Grammy nominated producer and composer Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie Xl is launching a new YouTube tutorial series “Studio Time with Junkie Xl.” The series will give aspiring composers, producers, and musicians a rare glimpse into the inner workings of a Hollywood composer.
The tutorial topics will range from technical advice, such as string and drum arrangements, to programming tips and advice on how to channel your musical influences. “Studio Time with Junkie Xl” launches today (Tuesday, May 26) at youtube.com/junkiexlofficial.
In addition to music, teaching has always been one of Holkenborg’s passions. He was an associate professor at Artez, the Dutch music conservatorium where he developed and taught a four year music program based on all of the elements of his career. His latest teaching endeavor is an online video series that will allow him to reach a broad audience directly from his home studio and share his knowledge of composing.

Sadly these days vampires don’t have the scare-factor or draw that they used to, and that’s all down to the mouth-breathing antics of Kristen Stewart and her shovel-faced boyfriend Robert Pattinson, who between them have ultimately neutered the idea that vampires can be anything other than wimpy girly-men with just as much a taste for blood as that of mumbling a few romanticised lines you’d swear you first read in a greetings card.
Maybe it’s just us and our oh-so over-analytical ways, but every now and then when you come across something that’s been written in such a deliciously fantastical – or humorous given some of the entries on here – way, the songs can take on a whole different light if we imagine a cabal of bloodsuckers were behind the pen instead.
So, for a bit of fun and to hark back to...

Industrial metal band Fear Factory is back with another release, The Industrialist. Much like their previous album, Mechanize, The Industrialist takes the band's music and futuristic story telling to the next level. The new album features a story much like their 1999 concept album Obsolete. The futuristic science fiction story, which is presented in the CD booklet, follows the main character, known as "The Industrialist." The music for The Industrialist is brilliant and brutal, which is more or less what you expect from Fear Factory. There was once again a line up change for the band's newest release and the only members involved with this outing are vocalist Burton C. Bell and Dino Cazares on guitars. The drum and bass tracks are programed and arranged. Despite lacking musicians, the album does not lack any of its Fear Factory potency.

There's hardly a musician on my favorites list (or yours, probably) who hasn't crossed paths at some point with industrial rocker, drummer, programmer and producer Chris Vrenna at some point. Whether it's Nine Inch Nails, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie, Rammstein, Rob Zombie, Metallica, Lords of Acid or dozens of others, Vrenna's distinctive style has played a massive role in shaping the dark side of multiple music genres over the past couple of decades. With just more than three weeks to go before their thirteenth annual event, "Gathering of the Juggalos" organizers late last week released a 23-minute video promoting their upcoming festival and its full lineup.

First up is Meat, a cheeky little piece of the macabre about two rednecks, Aj Bowen (Horrible Way To Die, House Of The Devil) and Ed Ackerman (Frozen, Chillerama) and their late night encounter with... a unicorn. Written and directed by Drew Daywalt and produced by Robert Galluzzo and Jeff Farley.

With Halloween only a few weeks away, it’s the time for people to get scared. One of the greatest Halloween traditions is the haunted house. Wary people enter the house to get the crap scared out of them, then leave knowing that their terrified responses will forever stay in the haunted house. Until now. The folks at a haunted house entitled “Nightmares Fear Factory” have created a Flickr account consisting of pictures of people getting scared within their walls. Haunted houses are the best at showing even the toughest of individuals they still aren't that tough, and what a better way to show this than a photo compilation of some bro's getting the living bejesus (or bebrahman, bebuddha, or beatheist depending on your affiliation) scared out of them at the Nightmare Fear Factory in Niagara Falls, California.
The photo compilation has more bromance than Goodwill Hunting and features an often seen technique in the haunted house circuit, the "train formation". So in honor of the collage you're about to enjoy, might I suggest you click the very sci-fi video below and let Quad City Dj's accompany you on this hilarious set of photos...and next time some buzz cut douche in a Tapout shirt is trying to flex just remember, "I ain't afraid of no bros."

It's that time of year again, when folks everywhere acknowledge a truth that we horror fans live by -- fear is awesome. It's also pretty darn funny, as the folks behind the Nightmares Fear Factory can illustrate. The latest video from 7L & Esoteric is a refreshing new approach to hip hop music videos. Brutally honest In a genre filled with bravado and flashy extravagance, 7Les along with the directing team McFarland & Pecci set out to make a bad situation as real as possible.
Ian Mcfarland: “Mike and I saw an article in the New York Times on joy riders in Ireland and we both called each other and said this would make an amazing video! The photography by Ross McDonnell had this beautiful gritty realism that would be perfect for hip hop and the embedded feel that the photographer captured really piqued my interest.”
Mike Pecci: I saw this video as an opportunity to create a real world in which the violence and edge that hip hop wants to have could actually exist. Esoteric was a perfect match and understood what we were going for immediately.

August 18, 2010: Hardcore veterans Biohazard has completed writing about 80 percent of the music and around 40 percent of the lyrics for their next album, according to bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld. The new album is going to be a follow-up of "Means To An End" album that was released about five years back, in the year 2005.
The new album is to be produced by Toby Wright. Mr. Wright has previously worked with several famous rock and metal bands like Korn, Slayer, MÖTLEY CRÜE, In Flames, Stone Sour, Kiss, Fear Factory, and Ozzy Osbourne and many more.

The members of rock act Fear Factory escaped unscathed after a freak fire engulfed their tourbus in the early hours of Thursday morning, August 5. The group was traveling to London after a show in Sheffield, north England when their driver spotted smoke coming from beneath the bus and pulled over on the M1 motorway to investigate.
He then noticed fire and alerted the band and crew to evacuate the bus - but guitarist Dino Cazares reveals not everyone heeded the warnings. A statement from the rocker readers, "Everyone grabbed there (sic) bags and ran off the bus. We stood on the side of the freeway going, 'Thank god we all made it out' until someone noticed our merchandise guy was still asleep on the bus, so our good friend ran back on the smoke-filled bus and got him out just minutes before the bus was completely in flames."

Heavy-metal musicians were quick to react to the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray, as news spread online in a manner all too familiar to a community still reeling from the recent deaths of legendary singer Ronnie James Dio and Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele.
"I'm so crushed to hear about the passing of Paul Gray," Shadows Fall singer Brian Fair told MTV News. Rob Zombie, Killswitch Engage, Mastodon and Fear Factory have released statements to MTV News as the heavy metal community continues to mourn the loss of Ronnie James Dio. The legendary and iconic vocalist passed away after a battle with stomach cancer early Sunday morning. He was 67.
