Valentine's Day means different things to different people. For some, it's a joyous celebration of the people in their lives. For others, it's a painful reminder of loves lost and broken hearts. Then, for the rest of us, it's a springboard for silly slashers about lovesick killers. Second only to Christmas, Valentine's Day might well be the most popular holiday in slasher flicks. The innate tension between treacly intimacy and gonzo gore is too good an opportunity to pass up, and for time immemorial, creatives have merged both love and fear in increasingly twisted ways.
Some recent editions to the horror canon, like "Bones and All" and "Spring," while not strictly speaking Valentine's Day-themed, are deeply romantic, reminding audiences of how perfectly the two disparate emotions can coalesce into something amazing. Here, we'll be looking at horror movies specifically about the most romantic day of the year. From old school slashers to creepy,...

Welcome back, TCA. You wanted to be back in-person for the first time in three years? That means you also invite some awkward questions. In this case, the very first question asked directly to a panel of talent at the in-person Television Critics Association press tour included a dig at the short-lived mobile streaming platform Quibi and actor Kiefer Sutherland f0r doing one of the shows on it.
Paramount+ hostws the first day of TCA 2023, and the first show to face the fully masked press room in Pasadena, California was the upcoming “Rabbit Hole.” After a brief intro from the co-showrunners Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (in which Ficarra accidentally told the room the show premiered in May and not on its actual date of March 26), journalists got the chance to ask questions.

Henry Selick is a one-of-a-kind filmmaker. In the world of stop-motion animation, he's in a league of his own as the acclaimed director behind greats like "James and the Giant Peach" and "The Nightmare Before Christmas." After a 13-year gap, Selick is returning this year with his first film since 2009's "Coraline," the Neil Gaiman adaptation that scarred a few kids for life but mostly, enchanted them with dreams of another world. This time around, Selick is adapting the words of a book that he penned himself, alongside Clay McLeod Chapman ("The Boy"): Their highly anticipated Netflix fantasy film "Wendell & Wild" will arrive on our screens in October, just in time for spooky season.
If you're about the right age, then you probably remember the wonder and terror of seeing "Coraline" for the first time. Well, now the next generation can experience the joys of watching onscreen magic from between their fingers too!

Despite the many lives of Joe Kimbreu, this timeline does not have another season of Ordinary Joe in store. On Friday, Deadline learned exclusively that the NBC series would not be moving forward for Season 2. With the cancellation sinking in, the creative team behind Ordinary Joe, including co-creator Garrett Lerner, reflected on the series.
“Just got official word that there will be no season two of #OrdinaryJoe,” tweeted Lerner Friday afternoon. “Couldn’t be more proud of the writers, actors, the directors and the uber talented craftsmen and women who all came together as a family and made a truly beautiful show. Thank you all.”

NBC’s “Ordinary Joe” and Fox’s “The Big Leap” are being dropped by their respective networks after airing only one season.
TheWrap has learned that Fox loved “The Big Leap” and saw it as an aspirational story, but it didn’t draw strong viewership numbers with an average 0.4/2 L7 and 2.8 million multiplatform viewers.
Based on a U.K. reality format, the Scott Foley-starring dramedy “The Big Leap” was described as “an innovative show-within-a-show that takes viewers on a journey of self-acceptance, body-positivity and empowerment at any age” and “a modern tale about second chances and chasing your dreams and taking back what’s yours.”
Created by “Deception” mastermind and “Friday Night Lights” alum Liz Heldens, it followed “a group of diverse, down-on-their-luck characters attempting to change their lives by participating in a potentially life-ruining reality dance show that builds to a live production of Swan Lake. What this group...

NBC is parting ways with Ordinary Joe.
Deadline is reporting the network made the decision Friday to cancel the primetime drama after just one season.
The series drew decent reviews, but it failed to make a lasting impression on viewers.
Despite decent initial ratings, the numbers dropped as the season progressed, and it ultimately averaged 2.3 million viewers and a 0.3 rating across 13 episodes.
Out of the 17 scripted series on NBC, it ranked 15th, meaning that a cancellation was likely.
"Life is all about the choices you make — and sometimes what you do in a single moment can change everything,” reads the official synopsis.
James Wolk’s character Joe “faces one of these decisions at his college graduation."
"The three parallel stories that diverge from that night find Joe and the people around him with different careers, relationships and family lives, showing the unexpected ways that things change — and stay the same.

“Ordinary Joe” has been canceled at NBC, Variety has confirmed with sources.
The series aired one season on the broadcast network. The show debuted in September and aired 13 episodes through January. David Ayer is bringing his 2012 movie End of Watch to television. Fox has handed a script-to-series commitment to the police drama project based on original film which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña.

Natalie Martinez brought her A-game in this Amy Kindelán centric.
Ordinary Joe Season 1 Episode 8 explored why doing the right thing was so important to Amy.
It also showed the parallels of Joe and Uncle Frank's relationship throughout the timelines.
Ever since she was a young teenager, Amy cared about justice. She wanted to attend protests, even though her father wanted her to be careful since they were Latina, and he didn't want them to call attention to themselves.
Through flashbacks, we saw why Amy has grown so distrustful of cops and people in general. The cops arrested her dad for a robbery he never committed.
She tried to defend him and got into trouble herself. It makes total sense why she wanted to do the right thing in one timeline, even if it meant turning Bobby in. She hated it when rich, white guys got a pass.

In “Cruz Street,” Aidy Bryant plays the Texas senator surrounded by the classic Sesame Street Muppets (naturally, it’s a gated community). Cruz is soon but too briefly joined by Marjorie Taylor Green (Cecily Strong). “Here kid, you wanna hold an Ar-15?” she says offering her gun, before dissing him for refusing.

This episode was the one we'd all been waiting for, and it answered so many questions.
The stories were told entirely in a flashback on Ordinary Joe Season 1 Episode 7. We learned about Joe and Amy's first date and Joe's passion for music, Joe's impending fatherhood, and why he decided to join the police force.
The flashbacks also showed details about Eric's career and relationship choices, which answered some questions.
We'll discuss them by timeline because it was even more complicated than usual to keep track. Many scenes were repeated, so you needed to pay extra attention to the minor differences and color tints in this episode.
It was amusing how Uncle Frank and Gwen were fighting over Joe's future, making things even more difficult. Uncle Frank was so adamant that Joe should join the family business and be a cop, while his mom thought his passion was music.
