Prime Video has had a rough track record with their science-fiction programming, with both "Paper Girls" and the J.K. Simmons and Sissy Spacek "Night Sky" getting the axe after just one season. However, the streamer is hoping to turn the tides with their new Chloë Grace Moretz-starring adaptation of "The Peripheral," based on William Gibson's novel of the same name. The series centers on a young woman named Flynne, who comes across a VR helmet that gives her the ability to be transported 70 years in the future. She thinks at first she's just in a dystopian game, but quickly realizes this is the world ahead. Now, Flynne is torn between enduring her rural existence in her own timeline, and being caught in a battle leading toward the impending fall of London.

Plot: Petro-chemist Andy Yeats knows how dependent the world is on oil; if something were to happen to the world’s oil supply, it would set off a chain reaction: transportation would grind to a halt, supplies would cease to be delivered, law enforcement would be overwhelmed. While on a business trip to the Middle East, Andy realizes that his worst fears are coming true and his family is separated at this crucial moment. His teenage daughter, Laura, is alone at home in London while his wife, Elena, and young son, Sam, are in Paris. Amid this chaos, each family member will sacrifice everything to find one another, despite the distance and the dangers that separate them. Based on Alex Scarrow’s best-selling novel of the same name.

Prime Video has been cranking out one sci-fi adventure series after another, with the latest being the Chloë Grace Moretz-starring adaptation of "The Peripheral." Based on William Gibson's novel of the same name, "The Peripheral" is the story of a young woman named Flynne, who discovers what she believes to be a virtual reality helmet that transports her to a timeline 70 years in the future, but soon discovers that this is not a game, it's a glimpse into the dystopian world to come. Now, pulled between her own reality of working grunt jobs in a rural area and an impending future that sees the fall of London's society as we know it, Flynne finds herself at the center of a battle she was never supposed to be a part of.

"The worst case is unfolding." Peacock has revealed a trailer for a mini-series titled Last Light, which will be streaming on their service next month. This is being described as an apocalyptic disaster series, though it really seems like a freak out "we're afraid of change" maintain-the-status-quo concept more than anything. Here's the fear-mongering pitch: "Your family. Your world. What if it all disappeared tomorrow? If society were collapsing, how far would you go to save the ones you love?" So what's causing this disaster? The end of oil. Yes, the thing that we actually need to stop using for the sake of our planet's health and our survival as a species, is the resource in the "society will collapse without it" series. This is based on the novel of the same name by Alex Scarrow. Last Light follows a petro-chemist who discovers the world's oil supplies have been cut off.

Concrete Plans is a thriller from South Wales. This is director William Jewell's first feature as director. And, his story involves a rugged crew of builders and their growing frustration over non-payment. The builders take things into their own hands and turn on the person who hired them, leading to even more challenges. The cast for Concrete Plans consists of: Goran Bogdan ("Fargo"), Kevin Guthrie (Fantastic Beasts), Chris Reilly and Amber Rose Revah. The film's U.S. poster and trailer are here, via Dark Sky Films. The U.S. poster looks more like a concept poster. However, the title is present, along with a few other characters. Very austere, this release poster leaves a bit to be desired. The trailer is a bit more eventful. Characters work on an old estate. As the costs for construction increase, the foreman must find a way to pay his labourers. A confrontation ensues leading to a death,...

Dark Sky has unveiled a new US trailer for the British thriller Concrete Plans, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Will Jewell. This first premiered at Frightfest in the UK last year, and already opened over there last fall. High in the remote Welsh mountains, five builders are brought in to renovate a sprawling old farmhouse. Concrete Plans stars Goran Bogdan, Kevin Guthrie, Chris Reilly, Amber Rose Revah, Charley Palmer Rothwell, Steve Speirs, and William Thomas. This looks like it gets brutal fast, which it seems is the point of the plot as everything spirals out of control. Here's the official...

In this claustrophobic if unconvincing thriller, an arrogant landowner incurs the wrath of the builders renovating his ancestral home
There’s some really strong acting talent involved in this claustrophobic thriller set in south Wales, including the excellent Steve Speirs, who recently showed what a great comic turn he is as Burbage in Ben Elton’s Upstart Crow. But, however much I wanted to like it, this film never quite gelled: the dialogue and the confrontations seemed forced; some characters looked and sounded like caricatures; and the moment of escalation from tension into open violence was unconvincing.
Kevin Guthrie plays Simon, an arrogant landowner who is refurbishing the ancestral home as part of a colossal tax dodge on the advice of his slippery accountant Richard (James Lance). To do this, he has hired five builders: Bob (Speirs), Jim (Chris Reilly), Dave (William Thomas), Steve (Charley Palmer Rothwell) and Viktor (Goran Bogdan...

Five misfit builders coming together to work on a farmhouse in some remote Welsh mountains don’t seem like the basis for a horror film. But Concrete Plans, a very British movie, is exactly that and although it takes a little while to get there, there is plenty of horror to witness.
The five workers might be a little stereotypical but are the perfect ‘gang’ for this movie. You have the arrogant youngster who is being badly influenced by an older bigoted guy. The Ukrainian guy who just wants to work but is constantly antagonised by that pair. While we have the older guy who just wants to get on with work but will defend any prejudices he sees. A few days ago, Marshall Mathers took to Twitter to call out Netflix for their decision to cancel the series, keeping his condemnation short and blunt, simply writing:
“Dear @Netflix, Regarding Your Cancellation Of The Punisher, You Are Blowing It!! Sincerely, Marshall”
Since Em Tweeted his message, both Floriana Lima and Amber Rose Revah have expressed their thanks for Mathers’ support, while star Jon Bernthal showed his respect for the rapper’s words, too. And now, it looks like another cast member from The Punisher is also happy to have Slim Shady standing up for the series.

Following the recent announcement that The Punisher will not be renewed for a third season, the cast of the beloved series found themselves with a rather unlikely ally in the form of diamond-selling rapper Eminem.

When the inevitable news arrived earlier this week that The Punisher would not be renewed for a third season on Netflix, scores of fans took to Twitter to share their frustration, among whom was diamond-selling rapper Eminem.
Last night, Marshall Mathers earned over 80,000 retweets when he posted the following open letter to Netflix:
“Dear @Netflix, Regarding Your Cancellation Of The Punisher, You Are Blowing It!! Sincerely, Marshall”
After Marvel fans shared the tweet in solidarity, it seems that a couple of cast members from Steve Lightfoot’s show caught wind of the post and are pleased to have the rapper on their side. The Punisher season 2 brought back most of the major players from season 1, including Dinah Madani (Amber Rose Revah), Curtis Hoyle (Jason R. Moore) and Billy Russo (Ben Barnes). However, someone who was conspicuous by their absence was Micro – real name: David Lieberman – Frank Castle’s techie friend who was an indisputable aid in his war on crime last time we saw him.
It was a shame that Ebon-Moss Bachrach’s character didn’t make a comeback, but it’s not much of a surprise, as the first season ended with David finally able to go back home and be with his family after being on the run for so long. Obviously he wouldn’t want to hang around with Frank now that’s got a wife and kids to look after, but according to showrunner Steve Lightfoot, there’s another explanation for where Micro could be during the events of season 2.

[This story contains spoilers from the season two finale of Netflix's The Punisher.] Given the deeply uncertain future of Netflix’s Marvel slate, the brutal ending of The Punisher’s second season is likely to prove divisive among viewers, who will see it either as a long-awaited concession to comic book canon, or a cliff-hanger that may never be resolved. Picking up a few months on from the main events of the finale, the epilogue of sorts finds Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle taking a call from Madani (Amber Rose Revah), who’s offering him a job as ...

Ben Barnes on becoming Jigsaw and Amber Rose Revah on Madani’s quest for revenge in Season 2 of The Punisher.
Two of the characters who return for the second season of Netflix and Marvel’s The Punisher are Billy Russo, played by Ben Barnes, and Agent Dinah Madani, portrayed by Amber Rose Revah.
When we last saw both, they had managed to survive the first season but not without considerable damage. Russo had his memory wiped and his face cut to ribbons -- the latter by Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) himself, who was enraged by his former friend’s actions yet couldn’t bring himself to end Russo’s life. As a result, Season 2 finds Russo suffering from mental damage, fear and ultimately anger, all of which put him on the path to becoming the classic comic book enemy Jigsaw.

[Editor’s note: This review contains spoilers for “The Punisher” Season 2, including the ending.]
One of the most remarkable things about “The Punisher” is the way in which it doesn’t hold in its rage. This is a show that feels fundamentally angry about the world — the criminals working within the system, the systems which oppress good people, the good people who get chewed up through no fault of their own. And it doesn’t hold back, thanks to good ol’ Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), rampaging his way through the world, dealing out his own brand of justice.
The most violent of the “Defenders” universe series, Bernthal’s take on the Punisher was first introduced in “Daredevil” Season 2, but barring a cameo or two his spin-off is easily the most disconnected from the rest of the franchise, one which can easily be enjoyed without catching up on “Iron Fist” or “Luke Cage.” Season 2, after an en media res hyper-violent opener,...

The Punisher’s Jon Bernthal and Giorgia Whigham describe their characters’ journeys in Season 2.
Frank Castle is back in the second season of The Punisher, the Netflix/Marvel series that followed the introduction of the classic comic book character in Season 2 of Daredevil. Played to perfection by Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), the former Marine turned vigilante found himself in the debut season of his own series seeking vengeance on every single person who had something to do with the deaths of his family -- and succeeding in brutal fashion.
As Season 2 opens, Castle has been given a reprieve by the Us intelligence community thanks to the bloody efficiency of his actions. He heads out on the road, where he begins to achieve a modicum of peace and even lets himself enjoy the company of others. But that tranquility is soon shattered when Frank finds himself protecting...

Get ready for some violent brutality in The Punisher Season 2 is which Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) goes on a war path as he unleashes his fury on the villains that are coming for him. In this sequel, Castle finds himself going up against Bill Russo (Ben Barnes), a.k.a. Jigsaw, who is looking to get revenge on Frank and make him pay for what he did to him in the first season.
I hate to think that this is going to be the last season of The Punisher. After this, who knows when and where we’ll see the character show up again. So, we might as well enjoy this series while we have it.
Here’s the full synopsis for the new season:
Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) can run but he can’t hide from who he’s meant to be. Season two finds Frank in all too familiar territory.

Netflix has released a bunch of new photos for Marvel’s upcoming The Punisher Season 2. They feature Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle on a mission of revenge and kicking some ass. They also include images of several of the other characters in the show. If Frank Castle’s first appearance in Season 2 of Daredevil and Season 1 of Marvel’s The Punisher taught us anything it is that no one leaves a trail of carnage behind like the ruthless vigilante played by Jon Bernthal.
Today, just over one week before the second season of one of the last two Marvel series on Netflix launches, the latest trailer shows the body count has risen and the villains are more crazed than ever.
“I dream about the Punisher every night,” says one of those villains, the returning Billy Russo Aka Jigsaw in the comics and portrayed by Ben Barnes in the new look at the new season. “He thinks he has the right to judge me,” adds Castle’s former friend and betrayer who was left for near dead with his face smashed in glass last season. “I want him to feel what I felt.”
Brothers no more.
