Over 27 years later, Rumer Willis has fallen into the Gap just like her mother, Demi Moore.
The clothing brand is bringing back 15 styles from the '90s and in doing so, has recreated ads from the era with the help of the sons and daughters of their former campaign stars. Rumer, who is the daughter of Demi and Bruce Willis, models a Gap jean jacket that's very similar to the one her mother wore for her ad in 1990.

Haven't you heard? The '90s are having a major sartorial moment. There are few apparel brands that epitomize what it was like to be a '90s kid quite like Gap. The image of their big, block-lettered logo across the front of your (and every one of your friends') fleece hoodie is permanently ingrained in your mind. Well, the retailer is back—not like they ever left—with a cool, new commercial featuring the offspring of the celebs who starred in their 1990 ad campaigns. If you jumped on the ’90s revival train in a big way last year (we’re looking at you, Kendall Jenner, the champion of bringing back every single long lost trend), the decade is continuing to have a major moment in 2017. Gap is keeping the throwback trend going with its new curated collection. The brand is bringing back 15 iconic ’90s styles from the archives, and they’re revisiting the brand’s iconic ads to go with them, fronted by (very appropriately) the most iconic supermodel of the ’90s, Naomi Campbell, who posed for the brand in 1992 wearing the pocket tee...

Between pitches were meetings and networking with industry representatives from Protagonist, Metrodome, Carnaby, Stray Dogs, Film4, Studiocanal, Lionsgate, Soda and Creative England.
Festival representatives attended from Tallinn Black Nights and International Film Festival Rotterdam.

As I mentioned way back on this post from 2008, as much as I’ve tried to branch out, my tastes are pretty narrow when it comes to reading material.
I’d love to say that I’m broadly well-read when it comes to the more celebrated books of the day, but it’s just not true. If you’re looking to engage in a discussion about today’s most incisive fiction, you’re much better off speaking with my wife (who works in publishing) than one such as I. Truthfully, I’ve pretty much lost my taste for fiction almost entirely. Unless I have some vested interest (like, say, I know the author or it’s about something near and dear to me), I usually cannot muster up the interest to crack the binding.
As a result, whenever I’m perusing through the aisles of a bookstore (when I can still find one,...

Willow Smith is officially a fashion model! The 14-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith is one of the new faces of Marc Jacobs -- and she got a dark makeover for her debut ad with the famed fashion house. “You know, we sort of let Kim and Dan do whatever they wanted,” said Tim Griffin, the director of the Kitchen, and that explained why the people who come to galas found themselves picking at a raspberry tart as little-known British female punk duo the Raincoats wailed away onstage, because “Kim” was Kim Gordon and “Dan” was Dan Graham. As he stood off to the side of the cavernous old bank on Wall Street that’s now a Cipriani, he looked particularly pleased with this situation, with punks filling in for the usual bland crooners who entertain the tables at these things. This is one of the better galas, I told Griffin. Okay, sure, October is still a ways away. But considering news first broke that the Sleater-Kinney guitarist was writing her memoir nearly three years ago, there's reason to celebrate its just-announced October 27 release date. Titled Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl, it's been described as a "deeply personal and revealing narrative of Brownstein’s life in music, from ardent fan to pioneering female guitarist to comedic performer and luminary in the independent rock world." And, similar to Kim Gordon's new memoir (which Brownstein recently interviewed Gordon about), it "intimately captures what it feels like to be a young woman in a rock-and-roll band, from her days at the dawn of the underground feminist punk-rock movement that would define music and pop culture in the 1990s through today." Brownstein previously told NME that the book "pretty much ends with Sleater-Kinney going on hiatus, and a little bit of leading on...

The book, to be published by Doubleday, will include "a surprise on every page," according to her editor. And it won't be just any memoir: "I’m approaching writing this memoir much the same way as I would an album," Hynde says. Is Lana Del Rey a feminist? It’s a question that’s been asked before to differing opinions. But, if you ask Kim Gordon, the answer is very simple: no. In Gordon’s upcoming memoir, Girl in a Band, she takes aim at Del Rey, specifically a comment she made to Fader in an interview last year. In that piece, she calls feminism “just not an interesting concept.” “I’m more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what’s going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities,” Del Rey said. “Whenever people bring up feminism, I’m like, god. I’m just not really that interested.” It should be said, Del Rey does say a true feminist, to her, is “a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants.” Even still, Gordon has a bit of a problem with that, writing in her book, “Today we have someone like Lana Del Rey,...

We’re less than two weeks into the new year and still waiting for most stars to come out of hibernation and put their crazy getups on display — I mean, what are they afraid of, that they’ll appear in this post or something? That must be why they invented the People’s Choice Awards and the Palm Springs International Film Festival, to keep wacko fashions in the public eye at all times.
Between Malin Akerman’s unflattering boob cage and Marisa Tomei’s maybe-probably camel-toe-creating Mother of the Vampire Bride number, we are definitely still in business here. The week had some probably deliberate entries by Will Ferrell and Melissa Leo, some trying-too-hard moments (Terry Crews, Matthew McConaughey, listen to your wives next time), and some sad but complete lapses in judgment (Alyssa Milano and Kim Gordon, we just can’t). We also can’t ignore...

Lou Reed, the influential rock musician-songwriter best known for "Walk on the Wild Side," died Sunday at age 71, according to a report. The cause of death was not immediately known. But Rolling Stone magazine, which reported his death, said Reed underwent a liver transplant in May. As a founding member of The Velvet Underground, Reed was part of New York's thriving avant-garde art and music scene of the 1960s and a close associate of Andy Warhol. The album The Velvet Underground & Nico, though never having mainstream success, is now considered one of the most influential rock albums of all time.

The moment Hedi Slimane took the creative reins at Yves Saint Laurent -- excuse us, Saint Laurent -- he made it quite clear that there would be no new "it girl." Rather than looking for the next big thing, the designer has kept his gaze turned staunchly to the past when it comes to muses.
Nowhere is this more apparent than in Slimane's latest photoshoot for V Magazine's September issue. The French photographer lensed a rock'n roll feature for the glossy, shooting stark, pensive headshots of music icons Joan Jett, Lou Reed, David Byrne, Michael Gira and David Johansen.
Classic Hedi, no? For Saint Larent's recent ad campaign, the brand's creative director cast the likes of Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson and Kim Gordon, as opposed to trendy models like Cara Delevingne or Karlie Kloss. For such an of-the-moment guy, Slimane has gone against the grain by choosing old over new -- his subjects are iconic,...

The cloudy sky and brief burst of rain couldn't dispel the optimism of the largely unknown "The Bling Ring" cast (save for Emma Watson) as they unveiled Sofia Coppola's latest at the Paris Theater on Tuesday evening with an intimate event hosted by Louis Vuitton and Vanity Fair. Nor could it alleviate the cool factor, as the infinitely stylish Coppola was able to summon up an impressive array of trendy guests, from photographer Terry Richardson to fashion designer Anna Sui to musicians James Murphy and Kim Gordon. With many decked out in the luxury brand hosting the premiere, it's safe to say that the reckless "Bling Ring" teens would have been foaming at the mouth at sight of the parade.Based on a true story, "The Bling Ring" follows a group of teenagers as they systematically break into the homes of Hollywood celebrities (including Paris Hilton, who let Coppola...

If the reports are true that Fred Armisen is following in the footsteps of his friend and fellow cast member Bill Hader and leaving "SNL," then we may have just seen the comedian's last performance on the NBC comedy sketch show's May 18th season finale. In the final minutes of Saturday night's season-ender, Armisen reprised his role as punk-rock star Ian Rubbish, the British pink rock character he introduced just over a month ago in the "History of Punk." Joined by guest stars including Aimee Mann, Steve Jones, Kim Gordon, and fellow departing cast-mates...

Fans hoping that Saturday Night Live might close out its lackluster 38th season on a strong note probably abandoned that sense of optimism after the evening’s first three sketches (not counting the opening monologue or that amusing, pre-taped Xanax: Gay Summe Weddings ad parody) proved about as funny as running your winning Powerball ticket through the washing machine.
Yet while Ben Affleck‘s introduction into the “Five-Timers Club” certainly won’t go down as a particularly good episode, there were some rewards in store for those who didn’t shut off their TV sets and call it an early night.

Michelle Williams brought her understated glamor to the 2013 Met Gala in NYC last night. She wore a Saint Laurent design as she made her way up the red carpet and into the Metropolitan Museum of Art to launch the Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit. While Michelle isn't known for her punk rock aesthetic, she does find a way to mix her Brooklyn hipster sensibility with traditional Hollywood elegance. She is also no stranger to fashion's biggest night, having attended the 2011 Met Gala in a black Miu Miu frock. Once the festivities inside the museum wrapped up, Michelle headed to an afterparty, but first snapped iPhone pictures with friend Kim Gordon and Edgar Ramirez. Edgar, star of the miniseries Carlos and Zero Dark Thirty, chatted with us at the party - check out Edgar Ramirez's Met Gala interview. Michelle retired to the afterparty at the Top of the Standard, and...

It looks like the star is reviving her modeling career in a very interesting campaign for the fashion brand — and she wasn’t the only surprising face to sign on! See who else was chosen for the Saint Laurent ‘Music Project’ right here.
48-year-old Courtney Love was announced as the face of the most recent St. Laurent campaign along with some other household names that may be considered somewhat untraditional for the fashion house. Love will be joined by Kim Gordon, 59, Ariel Pink, 34, and Marilyn Manson, 44, to debut the punk-themed attire in the Saint Laurent Music Project.
Saint Laurent Music Project:
Designer Hedi Slimane, 44, previously featured Beck and Sky Ferreira as campaign faces, making it evident that he is inspired by the rocker theme. While he’s been consistent with his choice of musicians to uphold that look, he definitely took it a step further by letting his models style...

When Jewel sang "You Were Meant For Me" in 1995 we thought no other singer-songwriter could ever express what we felt in our girly, romantic hearts... until Taylor Swift came along about 10 years later with songs like "Love Story" and "You Belong With Me."
While these ladies certainly occupy the same spot in our brains music-wise (hey, they're both pop artists with a country twang), we've been starting to notice that they're not too different in the style department either. Come to think if it: There are a lot of contemporary artists who seem to have filled the fashion role of one of their '90s predecessors.
To prove our theory, we've decided to round up a few of our favorite '90s/modern day musician style twins. Check out our list below and tell us who we're missing!
1. Madonna & Lady Gaga
2. Mariah Carey & Rihanna
3. Mary J. Blige & Nicki Minaj
4. Backstreet Boys...

It was core viewing for fashion fans in the 1990s, but blogs, Twitter and Facebook may now occupy the style documentary's niche
Hanging out backstage at a Versace show, checking out Will Smith's sneaker closet, going shopping with the Spice Girls and watching Naomi Campbell wash her face. MTV's House of Style – mostly presented by Cindy Crawford – was essential viewing for fashion fans in the 1990s. A mix of street and high fashion, segments might include a profile of Kim Gordon's skate label X Girl, an interview with a young John Galliano and something on Diy fashion ("all we need is a pair of old boots, a hack saw and some scissors"). Cancelled in 2000, it's become a cult reference for young designers and others hungry for images of the newest revival-ready decade.
So, with the announcement this week that MTV will be bringing back the show for October,...

Afp/Getty Images Lana del Rey performs during her concert in Amsterdam, on November 10, 2011.
Rolling Stone asked me to speak about Lana Del Rey. I wanted to know how big my participation in the piece would be–was it substantial or just a quote? Just a quote, they said, to which I replied that I wasn’t super interested. Which was a lie. I have a lot to say about her, but no sound bites. You see, Lana Del Rey...
