Born on the 20th April 1971, Tina Cousins was raised in Leigh-on-Sea,
Essex, England. Blonde-haired & hazel-eyed she first found work as a
hairdresser/stylist and then made a move into modeling. At the age of
20 she found herself in a Rolling Stone's video. Her career reached a
turning point when she replaced a singer in a fashion show. The lady in
charge of organizing the show was rather put out, so asked if any of
the models could sing. Brave Tina stepped forward. After receiving a
fabulous response from the 1000+ people in the audience, her singing
career was on its way. Fortunately for Tina someone saw her tape and
her picture in a bin in one of the studios her demo tape had been sent
to and came to her rescue! Tina won a vocal test at PWL studios and was
snapped up by Pete Waterman. Her first single called "Killin' Time" was
released in 1997 and was a hit all over Europe, however it was later
that she achieved real global success by appearing on German
DJ/producer team Sash!'s single "Mysterious Times" in 1998, which led
to a string of other releases. These found success in the UK and
Europe, and later Australia. Her third solo release, "Pray", became
Tina's biggest hit to date all over the world. It went top 15 in the
UK, was the 8th most played song on Australian radio for 1999 and sat
in the ARIA charts for more than 3 months. Her debut album "Killing
Time" is now also considered a dance music classic Stateside and is
still highly praised. Unfortunately Tina got signed to a terrible
record deal in the 90s and was frozen from releasing any new material,
even though having recorded singles for her much anticipated 2nd album.
In 2005 she came back with a new deal and a new single called
"Wonderful Life", which was released first in Australia. "Wonderful
Life" really cemented Tina back on the Australian music charts. Her 2nd
album was titled "Mastermind" and was released soon after the success
of "Wonderful Life". Tina now spends most of her time between Australia
and the UK, performing regularly. 2007 looks like being another
incredible year for Tina. She recently added vocals on two tracks for
the latest album of Dutch groups 4 strings. The album titled "MainLine"
and the two songs with Tina's vocals "Diamonds" and "Curious" look set
to become massive singles across the UK and Europe.
