Okay, let’s get something out of the way before I proceed any further: I love DC. I love the Arrowverse. Heck, I regularly cosplay as the Green Arrow and do a fine job of it. Still, I can’t help but be highly indifferent when it comes to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, a series that I find to be a lot of fun but doesn’t quite reach the bar that its brethren in Arrow and The Flash do.
My reasoning is that while the cast obviously has a blast shooting this (Dominic Purcell’s Heat Wave easily steals the show) and most episodes provide for some thrilling science fiction adventures, it’d be hard to identify it as a DC show if you took words such as “Firestorm,” “the Atom,” and “Vixen” out of a number of the teleplays. Put quite simply, I think the producers try...

126 people have written or co-written an episode of “The Simpsons,” most of whose names you probably don’t know. Among that company is Mimi Pond, who happens to have penned the long-running show’s first episode; in a new Jezebel interview, Pond says that she never became a full-time member of the writing staff because she’s a woman.

“No one ever called me or explained to me or apologized or anything. And it wasn’t until years later that I found out that Sam Simon, who was the showrunner, didn’t want any women around because he was going through a divorce.

“The Simpsons” fans, your pleas have been answered: Three years after the last release, the show is returning to DVD.
Creator Matt Groening and executive producer Al Jean announced Saturday that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will release the 18th season of “The Simpsons” on DVD this December 5. On the cover: Mobster Fat Tony (voiced by Joe Mantegna).
“The Simpsons” Season 17 was released in December 2014 – and then production halted on any future seasons. Groening and Jean revealed the reversal at the annual “The Simpsons” San Diego Comic-Con panel.
“Matt Groening tried really hard to bring them back, and we’re very happy to say the fans were listened to,” Jean said. “This is the one Tweet I’ve been looking forward to announce.”

If there’s one thing Lena Dunham takes as seriously as her acting, writing, and directing career, her undying love for Lisa Simpson, or being an advocate for ladies everywhere attempting to regrow their sparse, patchy eyebrows, it’s undoubtedly her passion for women’s rights and equality, a cause she has become increasingly vocal about since the last presidential election. So when the Girls star decided it was time to purge her wardrobe, it makes sense that she would want to do so for a good cause, teaming up with Planned Parenthood to make sure that new dress you...

Well, tonight is the night that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow concludes its second season, becoming the first of its Arrowverse brethren to do so this spring. And although this year certainly had its ups and downs, it’s undeniable that the series has been on fire for the past few weeks and will be missed until it returns this fall. But for now, we’ll just have to live in the moment and enjoy these two clips from the finale.
The first sneak peek granted sees the Legion of Doom consorting in a tent, but with a bit of a twist. I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but I can often spend hours upon hours trawling through iTunes looking for new movies to buy… Usually I’ll randomly come across a title I haven’t seen in years and use the “Cast & Crew” links to make my way down the rabbit hole to the more obscure side of Apple’s digital movie service.
Now whilst many will decry that iTunes is a terrible VOD service due to Apple’s desire to lock its audience to their platforms, if you have an Apple TV or iPad be aware – there are some truly obscure films hidden away in the depths of the vast collection of movies. Some of which have been made available in the UK for the first time since VHS and a Lot that have been added to the service in their original uncut form!

Homer Simpson’S Not An Abetting Man
I probably shouldn’t do this. But you know me. Even if you don’t, I know me. Know me well enough to know that, it doesn’t matter whether I should do it. Like the Mean Widdle Kid, I dood it.
(Boy, there’s a joke that you either won’t get or won’t want to admit you’re old enough to get.)
The Simpsons is a comedy show, satirical and not to be taken as an accurate portrayal of anything. The same applies to the comic books based on The Simpsons. Even if The Simpsons were supposed to be as realistic as a Rembrandt, their stories take place in Springfield, whose chief of police is Clancy Wiggum. Let’s face it, if Clancy’s the chief law-enforcement officer, then the laws he’s enforcing have probably been simplified so he can understand them.

“The Simpsons” warned America that Donald Trump would one day assume the highest office in the land back in 2000. The real estate mogul didn’t make an appearance, but his presidency is mentioned in an episode titled “Bart to the Future,” in which Lisa Simpson is “America’s first straight female president” following Trump’s disastrous term. “As you know, we’ve inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump,” Lisa tells her fictional administration, including Milhouse as Secretary Van Houten, who explains, “We’re broke.” Also Read: How the Hell Were the Polls So Wrong About Donald Trump? While Donald Trump's election victory may feel like it came out of left field for some citizens, The Simpsons predicted his road to the White House 16 years ago. In a 2000 episode called "Bart to the Future," Bart has a reverie of his life as a 40-year-old adult. In the vision, his sister Lisa Simpson is the country's first "straight female" president. In one scene, Bart visits her in the Oval Office where she's conducting a meeting about the country's current economic status. "As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump," she tells her staff as they realize the economy is in a complete decline. "The...

Ramsay Bolton, Lorne Malvo, Skeletor... Would that we could all share these smiling villains' lust for life.
Contains spoilers for Game Of Thrones season six.
I Can Make You Happy.
No, not the last-ditch plea of a sobbing spouse, but the title of a popular self-help book. From its cover, the soberly bespectacled face of demon headmaster Paul McKenna fixes you in its gaze and promises to grant your deepest desire: happiness. Using powerful psychological techniques, it says, this book and CD combo will help you experience greater joy than ever before.
It’s little wonder people bought it. Happiness is an elusive bugger - there one minute, undermined by a creeping sense of ultimate futility and inevitable decay the next. If only we could all be happy, we’d all be so much happier.
There are those with no need of Mr McKenna’s powerful psychological techniques of course.

“The Simpsons” star Yeardley Smith, who voices Lisa Simpson on Fox’s long-running animated series, is currently shopping a half-hour comedy series titled “The Import,” TheWrap has learned. Black List scribes Evan Mirzai and Shea Mirzai have been hired to write the script, which is based on an original idea by actor Jonny Pasvolsky (“Mortdecai”). The logline is currently being kept under wraps, but insiders describe the project as a multi-generational, multicultural series centered on immigration and the current green-card system. Smith and her producing partner Ben Cornwell will produce the series under their PaperClip banner along with the Mirzai twins.

The Simpsons has pastiched hundreds of movies in its time. From Hitchcock to Kubrick to Disney, we select our top 30 favourites...
The Simpsons has a long history of peppering its stories with pop culture references, and some of the show’s finest gags stem from the world of cinema. These have ranged from the briefest of quotes, to full on shot-for-shot parodies and extended episode-long homages.
Most striking in trying to put this list together was the sheer volume of movie references there are to choose from. In pretty much any given episode of The Simpsons, there are at least a couple, with nods to James Bond, 2001: A Space Odyssey and the work of Alfred Hitchcock proving three of the most regular candidates. The tributes to numerous great horror movies in the show’s Treehouse Of Horror episodes could have been used to fill this list all on their own.

Being a middle child on TV is tough, or at least so that is how television depicts it. I was the youngest and that came with its own problems, such as trying to live up to the success of my older sister. Many TV families have three children, sometimes even more than that. Adding another child to the mix gives writers a chance to develop additional storylines if needed. We hunted all over TV land, looking at animated series like The Simpsons to classic sitcoms such as The Cosby Show, to try to find our favorite middle children and here is our list. According to some, the middle child always seems to disappoint in real life, but believe me this list is anything but disappointing. These are our favorite middle children on TV. Smart people behaving foolishly. That seems to be the essence of scripted TV these days, as characters we've come to admire for their savvy get themselves into terrible trouble because they make regrettable decisions. Sure, that sort of behavior makes for great drama and comedy, but it also makes for messy lives. If our favorite TV characters really want to clean up their acts, they'll take our advice and adopt these custom-tailored New Year's resolutions.
Sansa Stark ("Game of Thrones"): I will not accept any wedding invitations.

Lisa Simpson ("The Simpsons"): After 25 years, I will finally pass the second grade.
Don Draper ("Mad Men"): Maybe seeing Bert Cooper dancing down the hallway after his death is a sign that I shouldn't drink so much.

Like all untimely movie star deaths, you’re not really gone until the last movie you finished before your death is released. The tragic passing of Robin Williams this past summer was marked by this website and others by recognizing several of the actor’s greatest comedy hits. Sadly, A Merry Friggin’ Christmas will not join their ranks.
The set-up is simple. Boyd Mitchler (Joel McHale) traces every bad thing wrong with his life back to the horrible parenting of his drunken dad Mitch (Robin Williams). Having grown up to become a successful Chicago hedge fund manager, Boyd overcompensates with his own son, Doug (Pierce Gagnon), to make sure he gets every bit the magical Christmas that Mitch denied Boyd through bourbon-fuelled candour. Obviously Boyd’s put a lot of time and distance between him and his father, but when his younger brother, Nelson (Clark Duke), calls him up to...

For Halloween, we celebrate The Simpsons' best Treehouse Of Horror stories, feat. zombies, Hitchcock and Kubrick spoofs and more...
“Nothing seems to bother my kids but tonight's show, which I totally wash my hands of, is really scary.”
For anyone who grew up watching The Simpsons, the Treehouse Of Horror Halloween specials are an annual horror staple, from spooky couch gag to horror-themed credits. You can learn an awful lot of things just from watching the show, but for younger audiences, these episodes gave us our introduction to certain iconic horror stories.
Having ditched the early framing device of the family telling scary stories to one another, with Springfielders cast in key roles, the format is now closer to a mini-anthology of terror with three stories that take place outside of canon. This has usually given the writers licence to be more gruesome and outlandish than in the regular series,...

Last week, CBS premiered the new political drama Madam Secretary, which stars Téa Leoni as Elizabeth Faulkner McCord, the U.S. Secretary of State. It's hardly a far-fetched concept, as we've seen three female secretaries of state since 1997: Madeleine Albright, Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton. But it's nonetheless rare to see a fictional universe with a woman in one of the nation's top three positions of political power. (Yep, even in fake realities, politics is a man's game.) And historically speaking, Hollywood has played it as a joke more often than not. So which fictional female presidents, vice presidents...

For a show entering its 26th season, "The Simpsons" has been generating a lot of fresh news lately. There was last month's Fxx Every Simpsons Ever Marathon, in which all 552 episodes and the movie were aired in sequence, single-handedly transforming Fxx from a cable curiosity into a destination. For lucky residents of Los Angeles, there's this weekend's The Simpsons Take The Bowl three night event. Starting on Friday, September 12, Hank Azaria will host a trio of live shows at the Hollywood Bowl featuring the likes of Conan O'Brien, Nancy Cartwright, Beverly D'Angelo, Jon Lovitz, Yeardley Smith, "Weird Al" Yankovic, series creator Matt Groening and more, with musical performances accompanied by clips. [Timed around the Bowl show is Thursday night's "Simpsons" music-themed marathon on Fxx, which runs from 8 p.m. to midnight.] And then for everybody, "The Simpsons" returns to Fox on Sunday, September 28 with a fall of new episodes that include a major character death and a "Futurama" crossover and that's not even mentioning the "Family Guy" premiere, which features a much-discussed visit to Springfield.

Off the top of my head, I’d like to throw out a few important new guidelines for Season 2 of Rising Star — while acknowledging that the months old, unchecked Powerball ticket in my wallet is as likely to make all my dreams come true as ABC’s woeful reality-singing competition is to return in 2015:
1. If the show’s “experts” are going to pretend to be “mentors,” then they should never ever allow a wide-eyed 16-year-old girl to sing lyrics about being a “for-a-good-time-call” party girl. #RIPManeepatMolloy
2. Ke$ha must agree to a four-hour nap and five Red Bulls prior to any live telecast.

Joseph Rosenthal, Stritch's longtime attorney, said the actress died Thursday of natural causes at her home in Birmingham, Michigan.

It gives me no pleasure to say that the opening film of this year's Cannes International Film Festival had members of the press mocking it during its running time. At the second screening, when the credits rolled and the lights were still off, someone yelled "Bravo" in a sarcastic, douche-bag-ish tone, and it was followed by the very same "haw haw haw" stereotypical laughter that the students of West Springfield demonstrated as being "en Français" to Lisa Simpson [on TV's The Simpsons].Speaking of cartoonish blondes, Nicole Kidman's portrayal of Grace Kelly comes close to looking the part, but the whole film feels as forced and awkwardly taut as the post-injection facial muscles of Ms. Kidman. Now, let's be clear, I'm a big fan of this actress, and...
