Johnny Hickey
- Actor
- Producer
- Director
A one-time street kid from Boston, these days Johnny is a celebrated filmmaker, actor, and anti opiate crusader. Early on in his career, he was a field producer for "The Oxycontin Express," a TV special Peabody Award for its investigation of opiate subculture in Boston. Hickey knew that world extremely well, and has used history connections to bring the journalist team deep into the underbelly of the drug culture.
Johnny's feature-length debut, "OxyMorons" had a successful two-month screening at Showcase Cinemas in New England, where it placed second in the theater's box-office sales showing against more than a dozen studio films. The movie subsequently had a two year run on Netflix. Following OxyMorons he partnered with Sugar Studios LA and has recently released his second award winning feature film, the psychological drug thriller "HABITUAL" which co-stars longtime (MTV 's The Challenge) favorite, Chris "CT" Tamburello.
Hickey has just signed as director of content for ScareNetworkTV along with directing four episodes of their new horror series "Dark is the Night" 2023.
When he's not creating films for the big screen, Johnny also collaborates with adolescents for his non/profit - Film Intervening Getting High Team (F.I.G.H.T.) which produces video content about today's fentanyl crisis with goals to deter future generations from falling peril to opioid drug abuse.
It's no wonder LA WEEKLY just named Johnny Hickey number two on its top ten entrepreneurs to look out for 2023.
