Bert Belasco, actor in drama sports series “Pitch” and star of BET’s sitcom “Let’s Stay Together,” has died, Henrico County police confirmed on Monday. He was 38.
Belasco, who lived in Woodland Hills, Calif., was in Virginia filming for a movie and quarantining in a hotel prior to going on set, his father told TMZ. When family and friends could not reach him, hotel staff contacted police to conduct a welfare check, where Belasco was pronounced dead at the scene. While detectives are working with medical examiners to determine the cause of death, the circumstances of the case do not look suspicious, according to the police statement.

As we reported yesterday, Bet's The Game is returning on January 10th for the kick off of the show's fifth season. Bet revived the previously-cancelled series and aired the new episodes earlier this year. They were a huge success for Bet so they ordered a full fifth season of 22 installments.
Bet has now issued a press release about The Game's return, as well as the the second season premiere of Let's Stay Together. The first season of the original sitcom (which ended with a wedding cliffhanger) reportedly averaged 2.9 million viewers per week and was also renewed for 22 new episodes. Last night, Bet announced a multi-year deal with Queen Latifah and her Flavor Unit Entertainment production company, which will include the production of an original scripted comedy project, Let’s Stay Together.
Written and produced by Jacque Edmonds Cofer, and billed as a romantic comedy, the series will star Malinda Williams and Bert Belasco, and will make its debut in early 2011.
Latifah’s Flavor Unit will also produce the The Cookout 2, a sequel to the feature The Cookout., although it’ll be a made-for-tv movie that will air exclusively on Bet.
