All My Friends Hate Me is a film that uses anxiety as a means to explore humour and horror, and is set to entertain the masses with its release this week. To mark the film’s release we had the pleasure of speaking to its co-writers, Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer – while the former also plays the leading role Pete, in the movie. We look back over their long-standing friendship, and their dynamic as a writing-duo. They tell us why they decided to star/or not star in the film, and the casting of Dustin Demri-Burns. They also speak about the film’s themes, the reactions from audiences, and the notion of privilege. Watch the full interview with both Toms below.
Synopsis
Pete is cautiously excited about reuniting with his college crew for a birthday weekend. But, one by one, his friends slowly turn against him.

Despite their undoubted comedy talents Tom Palmer and Tom Stourton’s debut feature feels too light on the funny to live up to its potential
Tom Palmer and Tom Stourton made their names as the comedy double-act Totally Tom who went viral some years ago with their (very funny) creation High Renaissance Man, about clueless public schoolboys at uni, but their jointly scripted debut feature film, directed by Andrew Gaynord (from TV’s Stath Lets Flats) is a weirdly unrelaxed dark satire.
An entitled thirtysomething called Pete (played by Stourton) has spent some years abroad doing self-congratulatory “gap yah” charity work with refugees, but now wants to reconnect with his old gang from university, one of whom offers to host a huge birthday weekend for Pete at his colossal country estate. There Pete discovers, to his increasing paranoid dismay, that they all now seem to be giggling at him behind...

"All My Friends Hate Me" is an anxiety film. Anyone who's ever felt out of place among a group of strangers -- or even worse, a group of friends or family members -- will recognize the social anxiety on full display in the low-key horror-comedy. In the film, Pete (Tom Stourton) goes on a weekend getaway with friends from college, but they no longer relate like they used to. Things get awkward and far worse from there.
Co-writers Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer crafted a story that keeps an audience on its toes. Even when nothing out of the ordinary or...

Pete (Tom Stourton) hasn’t seen his university mates in years. Ten years to be exact. It happens. Life happens. We reach adulthood, mature, and set goals for ourselves that the people who were closest to us during that formidable period simply cannot follow—their own ambitions lie upon different forks in the road. So resentment shouldn’t factor in. Nor should jealousy. Yet Pete can’t help wondering about both. A little voice in the back of his head wonders if a decade was too long to pretend things could pick up where they left off. Would their very posh upbringing think he abandoned them to work with refugees? Do they think he thinks he’s better than them for doing it? What if he thinks that?
To say this character is racked with anxiety undersells the truth that he’s ready to blow a gasket thanks to swirling paranoia,...

Cary Joji Fukunaga’s long awaited Bond flick “No Time to Die,” the final instalment featuring long-time lead Daniel Craig, will close this year’s EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival, presented by Joji Fukunaga (“Beasts of No Nation”) himself and the film’s Oscar-winning cinematographer Lunus Sandgren (“La La Land”).
“This is the first time Cary Joji Fukunaga and Linus Sandgren collaborated on a film project, yet the result is just the kind of visual spectacle we hoped for given their artistic portfolios,” said the festival in a release accompanying the announcement.
This will be Joji Fukunaga’s first time attending EnergaCamerimage in person, although his film “Jane Eyre” and the “True Detective” pilot episode he directed both screened at the fest. Sandgren is becoming something of an EnergaCamerimage regular, having presented in person two films on which he worked, Damien Chazelle’s “La La Land” and “First Man.”

Super Ltd has acquired North American rights to All My Friends Hate Me, the UK comedy horror thriller directed by Andrew Gaynord that world premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
In the film, a college reunion goes awry when Pete (Tom Stourton) suspects his friends may be out to get him. As their weekend getaway grows more and more uncomfortable, should he be worried about his safety, or is it all in his head? Stourton and Tom Palmer wrote the script for the pic, which also stars Charly Clive, Georgina Campbell, Joshua Mcguire and Antonia Clarke.
Palmer is the producer.
Super Ltd’s Mason Speta negotiated the deal with Endeavor Content on behalf of the filmmakers.

Imagine the protagonist of a Richard Curtis film woke up on the morning of whichever wedding or funeral they were to attend, suddenly cursed with self-awareness. The resulting movie, a comedy that elicits such bone-deep cringe it’s indistinguishable from horror, might look a lot like Andrew Gaynord’s “All My Friends Hate Me,” a ferociously witty, deeply British evisceration of upper-class Millennial anxiety, dedicated to the truism that if you can’t spot the asshole in any group of five or more people, the asshole is you.

The Batman Who Laughs has turned six DC superheroes into dark reflections of themselves...
Picking up where The Batman Who Laughs left off, Batman/Superman kicks off at the end of August promising to infect heroes from around the DC Universe with dark multiverse Joker venom. But the identities of the infected have been mostly hidden, until now.
We already knew that the first one to catch giggles would be Shazam, from a fantastically creepy preview. The Batman Who Laughs grabs Billy Batson and nicks him with an infected Batarang, then dresses him up like a Robin and sets him loose on the heroes.
He's going to be getting a one shot in November examining the impact of the Joker venom. Sina Grace, writer of the best pre-Hickman X-book, Iceman, is writing the one shot (titled The Infected: King Shazam), with art from The Immortal Hulk's Joe Bennett.

This weeks edition is going to be a hodge podge of ideas. A Frankensteins monster of topics if you will. Or seeing as this is comics perhaps an amalgam of ideas is a better turn of phrase. Rather than go through those topics in an introduction (that looks like I’m trying to make up a word count) I will just jump straight into them and therefore avoid repetition. I will say though I will be referring to a number of topics from my previous 10 blogs so new and old readers may want to go back to those at some point.
Firstly I want to revisit my attempts to sell a copy of Western Adventure. In a nutshell Western Adventure is a British pulp magazine that reprinted material from the American pulp magazine Western Story Magazine. A friend of my Dad set me the challenge of trying to sell his...
