Captain Marvel arrived in theaters this weekend and is a departure for a Marvel film as the film takes place primarily in the 1990s and is a quasi-prequel for the Avengers films. The film is also the first female-led movie from Marvel (here’s hoping Black Widow is the second) and fills in the background that prior Marvel films left out regarding the universe.
Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot that has been knocked down many times in life but never stops fighting for her place in the world. Danvers, after a test flight goes wrong, unknowingly becomes hand-picked by the alien race,...

Gemma Chan plays the mysterious Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. Here's what we know about her from the comics...
This article contains Captain Marvel spoilers.
Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians) plays the Captain Marvel movie's Minn-Erva, a member of Star Force, a Kree military group. Carol Danvers, known by her Kree name as Vers, is a member, as are Djimon Hounsou’s Korath, Algenis Perez Soto’s Att-Lass, Rune Temte’s Bron-Char, and the mysterious team leader Yon-Rogg played by Jude Law.
The seasoned fighter Minn-Erva made it clear that she was no great fan of Vers, whose true identity was a secret even to Captain Marvel herself. Minn-Erva was in on the secret of Carol's origins and yet never told a soul, a loyal Kree fighter to the very end when her ship exploded in a canyon as she tried to take out Nick Fury and a...

The hotly anticipated Captain Marvel, starring Academy Award winner Brie Larson in the titular role and directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden, finally hits cinema screens on the hot heels of Avengers: Infinity War. Taking place during the early nineties, Marvel’s latest finds the eponymous character on strange planet B-53 also known as Earth while she reluctantly tries to investigate her own life, lived through fleeting past memories while an impending invasion of Earth by the Skrulls begins its foundations.
Captain Marvel is undoubtedly a film that gets better and better as it unfolds. The opening first act is – quite frankly – a little bit of a mess.

But after Danvers has trained and worked with the Starforce team, and become a valued member, she finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. While on Earth she quickly lands on the radar of Nick Fury, and they must work together against a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls—the notorious Marvel bad guys made even more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities—and their leader, Talos, who is...

Brie Larson received some hard piece of advice from friend Jennifer Lawrence.
The Captain Marvel star, 29, spoke to InStyle about finding herself vulnerable after winning the Best Actress Oscar for Room.
Larson said she called Lawrence, 28, for advice on how to deal with the acclaim and attention. (Lawrence won the Oscar in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook.)
“I was like, ‘I don’t feel any different. I don’t feel better about myself. I still don’t feel like I’m a good actress,’” Larson recalled. “She was like, ‘Oh, yeah. That’s totally normal. I’ve had the same thing.

The trailer is short but full of new footage. We see Carol Danvers riding a motorcycle to a diner to meet with Nick Fury and give him information on the Skrull invasion of Earth. When Fury asks for proof that Danvers herself is not a Skrull, she responds by destroying the jukebox with a photon blast, something Skrulls cannot do (so she says anyway). Fresh off the ’90s superHERo awesomeness of the new Captain Marvel trailer, Brie Larson flew into Brazil’s Comic Con Experience (Ccxp) in Sao Paulo to talk about the forthcoming Marvel Studios film.
Larson participated in a panel and also shared footage and an extended trailer from the comic book flick with the packed audience. But if you’re looking for that footage, you probably not going to find it because it was exclusive to Ccxp.
However, the Academy Award-winning actress tweeted a video of the crowd which was massive. “Look at these gorgeous humans feeling all the feels with me after watching exclusive footage from #CaptainMarvel,” she wrote.
In addition, Marvel Studios tweeted out a new Captain Marvel poster which is exclusive to Ccxp. It features Larson in full Captain Marvel regalia and gives off some serious comic book HERo vibes.

Marvel is definitely setting up for the hype for the upcoming film “Captain Marvel”, as they have just unleashed the second trailer which focuses on the adventures of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel set in the early nineties way before the events that took place in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
Captain Marvel will don her Kree warrior suit after landing on Earth as the battle rages on with the Skrull, a group of shape-shifting aliens who can pass themselves off as human beings. We see Captain Marvel coming up against Nick Fury and the trailer even gives us a small Easter egg, as Fury is seen wearing the same device that he uses to call Danvers just before he fades to dust particles in “Avengers: Infinity War”.
“Captain Marvel” is co-written and co-directed by Anna Broden and Ryan Fleck, and stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou,...

Disney-Marvel revealed the first trailer of Brie Larson’s “Captain Marvel” during the Oscar winner’s Tuesday appearance on “Good Morning America.”
“War is a universal language,” Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury tells Larson’s Captain Marvel in the trailer. “I know a renegade solider when I see one. It never occurred to me that one might come from above.”
Fury continues to narrate the footage: “Space invasion, big car chase — truth be told, I was ready to hang it up until I met you today.”
Captain Marvel’s real name is Carol Danvers, who was a pilot in the United States Air Force. Danvers becomes fused with alien DNA following an accident, and she is granted superhuman strength. In the clip, Danvers says she doesn’t remember her life before gaining her Captain Marvel powers.

If it feels like the hype machine of Hollywood is resting a bit easier this season it’s because, for the first time in a while, the next Marvel movie won’t be arriving until this March. Captain Marvel follows Air Force pilot Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), who happens to be part-Kree, part-human warrior. Helmed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, they are the duo behind the incredible Half Nelson, Sugar, and, most recently, Mississippi Grind.
“This is not a superhero who’s perfect or otherworldly or has some godlike connection,” Boden told EW. “But what makes her special is just how human she is. She’s funny, but doesn’t always tell good jokes. And she can be headstrong and reckless and doesn’t always make the perfect decisions for herself. But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity — and all of its messiness.

United States Air Force officer Carol Danvers reports for duty on the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which is all about the forthcoming Captain Marvel movie.
After months and months of teases and false promises, our first official look at Larson’s heroine has finally arrived and it’s safe to say that this is the retro-inspired cover we’ve been waiting for (“the future is female!” declares EW), particularly after Joe and Anthony Russo teased the legendary heroine at the tail-end of Avengers: Infinity War.
Front and center for this one is Oscar-winner Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, an air force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an extra-terrestrial following a near-death experience. What follows is an origin story unlike any we’ve ever seen before, so it’s small wonder why Marvel boss Kevin Feige believes Carol is about to become the strongest member of the...

Brie Larson has finally concluded filming on ‘Captain Marvel’. Although the oscar winning actress has been teasing her role in Marvel’s first female-led movie for some time, it seems that Larson has finally completed her portion of filming after 75 days. To celebrate, Larson has taken to Instagram to showcase a signed slate from the production of the film. Check it out below:

Even though ‘Captain Marvel‘ began filming in late march, the true question here is if the actual production has any shooting left to do. I’m assuming so, since the schedule in the background is only referring to the days where Larson was shooting. Either way, this means that we’ll most likely be getting and official image of Larson as the titular character, with a trailer surely coming in the next few months as principal photography winds down.

Pinar Toprak will become the first woman to score a major superhero blockbuster with the upcoming “Captain Marvel,” the composer announced on Thursday.
“It’s an incredible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe,” Toprak wrote on Instagram. “So many thoughts racing through my head. And the main one is gratitude.”
Toprak’s experience as a composer for the screen includes providing the score for Syfy’s Superman prequel series “Krypton” and an additional music credit on DC’s “Justice League.” Her other credits include the USA drama “Falling Water” and the upcoming Netflix spy thriller “The Angel.”
Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Fans can’t wait for next year’s Captain Marvel to arrive, as it’ll give us our first chance to meet Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers, who’s said to be the most powerful hero we’ve yet seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
An air force pilot whose DNA is fused with that of an extra-terrestrial following a near-death experience, Marvel boss Kevin Feige believes Carol’s actually about to become the strongest member of the Avengers roster. Those are bold words given that the McU’s premier team boasts the likes of Hulk and Thor, but Danvers will apparently be giving them all a run for their money and now we’re hearing that she’ll also be taking the lead as we head into Phase 4.

With all the excitement swirling around Avengers: Infinity War at the moment, you might be forgiven for forgetting that production on Captain Marvel is beginning to heat up. Then again, if you sat through the credits of the aforementioned team-up pic, you’re probably pretty eager for anything and everything related to Miss Danvers right now.
Originally tipped for an appearance in Infinity War – word is the Russo Brothers filmed scenes involving Brie Larson’s heroine, only to shelve them at the 11th hour – the hero is now expected to make her McU debut next March after being teased in the post-credits scene of Avengers 3.
Her solo film boasts a who’s who of Hollywood talent and a deeply nostalgic 1990s setting, leading us to believe it has all the makings of a special, ground-breaking expansion of the McU, and as it continues to head through production, we’re starting...

She’s been described as the most powerful McU superhero so far and the key to unlocking Avengers 4, but long before she stands shoulder to shoulder with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Carol Danvers is primed for a standalone movie of her own in Captain Marvel.
Currently lensing across parts of Los Angeles, the Internet has already unearthed a teasing peek at the young Nick Fury, along with a shot of Brie Larson’s heroine and would-be Avenger racing into action. This latest batch is cut from the same cloth, as below you’ll be able to take a look at Carol Danvers as she confronts an unknown assailant while standing on the roof of a commuter train.
Remember, Captain Marvel largely takes place in the 1990s – Carol’s attire, meanwhile, is said to be molded after the Kree – so that goes some way to explaining the dated architecture. As for who Brie Larson is confronting,...
