With every passing season, Amazon Prime’s adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson’s The Boys seems to be playing “can you top this?” in terms of going where no other heroic series has not dared to go.
The third season, out on disc just months before the fourth season drops, mainly focuses on the increasingly callous Homelander (Antony Star) fighting Starlight (Erin Moriarty) for the heart and soul of The Seven. When Vought named her co-leader, he was far from thrilled and let everyone know. The group of underground heroes – led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) trying to take down Homelander and expose their sponsor’s corruption almost seems sidelined this season.
There were interesting twists and turns across the eight episodes, such as Butcher’s protégé Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) working with Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit) at the Fbsa (Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs). His romance with Starlight remains rocky,...

Soldier Boy certainly is no Superman.
In the latest trailer for Season 3 of Prime Video’s “The Boys,” premiering June 3, new supe Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) makes his debut — complete with a bloody murder sequence by plowing his shield into the face of a presumed baddie.
Set one year since the events of the critically acclaimed Season 2, “The Boys” kicks off with Homelander (Anthony Starr) completing his apology tour for “falling in love with the wrong woman” — ahem, an ageless Nazi named Klara Risinger, aka Stormfront (Aya Cash), who helped found the sinister Vought conglomerate — and Hughie (Jack Quaid) becoming a senior analyst for the Federal Bureau of Superhuman Affairs.
Meanwhile, Butcher (Karl Urban) is applauded for not killing supes and laying off the booze. That is, until Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) presents Butcher with vials to make him a superhero for just 24 hours a time to properly put a...

Amazon has released the second installment of “Seven on 7,” the digital companion series to “The Boys” meant to “bridge the gap” between Seasons 2 and 3, giving a few more details on a major new character.
“Law & Order: True Crime” alum Miles Gaston Villanueva joined the superhero drama earlier this year as a new Supe named Supersonic. Character details were kept under wraps at the time, but the new episode of “Seven on 7” has revealed that Villanueva’s character previously went by a different name — Drummer Boy.
Fans of the “The Boys” comics will recognize the name Drummer Boy as the leader of Young Americans, the group Starlight belonged to before joining the Seven. The teaser describes him as a “triple-threat” and “former teen heartthrob.”

“The Boys” is adding three new Supes to its cast for Season 3, with actors Sean Patrick Flanery (“The Boondock Saints”), Nick Wechsler (“Roswell”) and Miles Gaston Villanueva (“The Resident”) joining the Amazon Prime Video series.
Flanery (pictured above left) is taking on the role of Gunpowder, Wechsler (pictured center) is playing Blue Hawk and Villanueva (pictured right) will be Supersonic. All three are recurring characters for the third season of “The Boys,” which is Eric Kripke, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s small-screen adaptation of the graphic novels of the same name, written by Garth Ennis and co-created, designed and illustrated by Darick Robertson.
No character details were provided for Flanery’s Gunpowder, Wechsler’s Blue Hawk or Villanueva’s Supersonic, and out of that trio, only Gunpowder, a minor villain, is featured in “The Boys” comics. So we don’t yet know how these three will pop up in this world.

Miles Gaston Villanueva (Law & Order True Crime) is set for a major recurring role on Fox’s medical drama The Resident.
Villanueva will play Alec, a born innovator, a loner and iconoclast who has spent a lifetime on the move. His father was an eccentric and Alec lived part of his childhood in a converted school bus. He studied to be an infectious disease doctor, but after a stint volunteering with Partners in Health on a Navajo reservation, he embraced a vision of medicine that tries to alter lifestyle via community outreach to prevent, rather than treat, illness. Alec is tender with patients but blunt with everyone else. And yet he is a charmer. His relationships with women tended in the past to lack deep roots. Whenever it was necessary, he moved on.

From Jack the Ripper to John Wayne Gacy to Aileen Wuornos, the horrific legacies of serial killers have managed to both appall and intrigue, as people attempt to explore and understand the darkest depths of the human psyche. Hollywood has mined this territory for years, with dozens of scripted true-crime movies and TV series exploring the “why” of those who snap.
But why are we so obsessed? Alex Wolff, who stars in the new movie My Friend Dahmer, about the high school years of the notorious mass murderer Jeffrey Dahmer, has a theory. “People are interested in seeing how things happen and maybe finding out what things could be different,” he tells Et. “Like, what is it about him that’s so different from me, or my next-door neighbor who seems a little bit off? If FX’s American Crime Story or Lifetime’s Who Killed JonBenét? haven’t satisfied your craving for true-crime dramas, NBC made an attempt to do so on Tuesday via the aptly-named Law & Order True Crime, the latest installment of Dick Wolf’s long-running franchise.
True Crime is an anthology series, with plans to focus on a different real-life scandal each season. First up? The high-profile 1989 murders of José and Kitty Menendez, for which their sons, Lyle and Erik, were (spoiler alert!) ultimately convicted. Law & Order True Crime is taking on the Menendez brothers murder case.
In NBC’s new eight-episode true-crime drama, Edie Falco plays defense attorney Leslie Abramson, who represents Lyle (Miles Gaston Villanueva) and Erik Menendez (Gus Halper) in the brothers’ trial for the murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. The brothers were convicted in 1996 of the crime, and Law & Order True Crime attempts to examine why they did it.
For relative newcomers Villanueva and Halper, the road to seeing Law & Order True Crime come to the small screen has been long and arduous. Villanueva, a former Young & the Restless soap star, turned down role of Lyle due to a previous commitment to a play, before the part came back around again months later. Halper first auditioned for Lyle last October (“Right away they said, this is wrong,” he laughed) before re-auditioning for Erik and landing the part in February.

When the original “Law & Order” was cancelled in 2010, people took the news hard. So hard, in fact, that the decades-spanning procedural was mourned publicly on the very network that cancelled it:
“I, for one, love cop shows,” Tracy Jordan says on “30 Rock” (Season 5, Episode 3, “Let’s Stay Together”). “I can’t wait for ‘Law & Order’ to come back,” he adds, right before Grizz whispers in his ear, breaking the bad news.
“Why? It was a tentpole! A tentpole!!” Tracy screams.
Seven years later, he’s not wrong. Though only one of the four spinoffs is still on the air — “Law & Order: Svu” returns September 27 on NBC — the franchise remains a memorable part of the cultural landscape, with its format, music, characters, and storytelling still easily identifiable to millions of viewers. Its influence on other series cannot be understated, including the hit limited series the latest “Law & Order” spinoff is emulating.

Fall TV is finally here, and so is a fresh batch of talent we can't get enough of. From Star Trek: Discovery to Young Sheldon, this year's freshman series are kicking it up a notch and allowing new faces to really shine.

In ABC's new comedy, Hall plays an up-and-coming rapper, Courtney Rose, who runs for office as a way to drum up publicity for his music career -- and we have a feeling the premiere of The Mayor will do the same for its star. Hall, who only has a handful of credits to his name, the most recent being on TBS' Search Party, draws other parallels to his character: He's charismatic, magnetic and a complete breath of fresh air.

The idea of a “fall TV season” feels particularly antiquated in 2017, as two of the year’s buzziest series (“Game of Thrones” and “Twin Peaks”) have already wrapped for the year. Fall may even be a bit of an afterthought now compared to spring, as networks aim to catch Emmy voters with prestige TV premieres when campaign season gets underway.
And yet, there’s nearly 70 years of tradition with the fall TV season. It’s when Nielsen still resets the calendar for the new TV year; when blue chip advertisers like the automotive sector roll out their own new wares; football season returns (don’t discount that huge impact on TV schedules); and the weather gets chilly, which conceivably means more viewers watching TV indoors.
This year, they’ll find a lot of familiar titles on broadcast TV, including the return of NBC’s “Will & Grace”; a prequel to “The Big Bang Theory,...

Dick Wolf says there are no shortage of brutal murderers to populate future seasons of his new anthology series “Law & Order True Crime.”
Among the names he’s considering for future editions: Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, “Night Stalker” mass killer Richard Ramirez and “Son of Sam” serial killer David Berkowitz.
“This is endless if you get the right case,” he said. “There are a lot of things I’d like to examine for eight hours.”
But first up: Lyle and Erik Melendez, who were tried and sentenced for killing their parents in Beverly Hills. Now, NBC’s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” will dredge the case back up to reveal new information that could change viewers’ minds about the verdict.

It’s a scenario straight outta an Svu episode: Two adult brothers, claiming they’d been abused their entire lives, shoot their parents dead in their family home. The mystery isn’t who did the crime, as this new trailer for Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders points out. It’s whether the men’s stories are true — and if so, whether they’re enough to incite someone to murder.

While we may have reached the point where the ubiquity of true crime dramas has already spawned satires, they still remain hugely popular. And following the huge success of “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” it looks like everyone is now digging through infamous court cases from the 1990s to dramatize. Up next will be NBC‘s “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.”
Edie Falco leads the show playing the attorney who defends twin brothers Eric and Lyle Menendez (played by Gus Halper and Miles Gaston Villanueva) when they’re charged with the shocking, brutal murders of their parents.
