It was in 2008 when we first heard about Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro's Beyond the Grave (Porto Dos Mortos), but things appear to be back on track for the Brazilian film as it's screening at the Chicago Latino Film Festival on April 21st and 26th.
Written and directed by Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro (who also produced with Isidoro B. Guggiana), Beyond the Grave follows the unstoppable hunt of a vengeful cop (Rafael Tombini) for a supernatural serial killer. In its film festival circuit the Brazilian fantasy feature gained international acclaim, being also selected for the Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (Cuba), and won two awards: Best Horror Feature Award at the Arizona Underground Film Festival and Audience Choice Award for Best Latin American Feature at Montevideo Fantástico (Uruguay).

Character MachiavelliDirector Davi de Oliveira Pinheiro's Beyond the Grave will have a North American premiere at the Arizona Underground Film Festival this September 25th. Pinheiro's and producer Isidoro B. Guggiana's vision for the film is one of destruction and violence, as The Dark Rider, a "possessed serial killer," (Beyond) removes the last breaths from many innocent lives. Pinheiro describes the setting of his film as "a post-apocalyptic planet," (Beyond) and fans of adrenalin fueled crime thrillers will find something of value in this Brazilian shot film. Brazil’s V2 Cinema has announced that master of the mysterious David Lynch stars in its new short The Soul Detective. The nine-minute movie, which you can watch at the bottom of this page, is the fifth in the web series Boundaries Of Thought: Think Tank.
