Exclusive: 3311 Productions is expanding beyond financing and producing independent films with a foray into scripted television.
Seasoned television executive Gerard Bocaccio has come on board to lead the company’s TV efforts as head of 3311 Television, which has assembled an inaugural slate that includes projects from Todd Field; Devin Conroy; Chris Case, Jason Biggs and Joel David Moore; BenDavid Grabinski and Dave Green; as well as Sara St. Onge.

The company will be finance TV development but is not expected to deficit finance production, at least not right away, and will be exploring international co-productions. Pamela Fryman, Tony Yacenda and Sara St. Onge sat down with The Hollywood Reporter critic Daniel Fienberg at the Atx Television Festival for a conversation about how they've been able to put their stamp on different series by directing full seasons of television.
In addition to years on Just Shoot Me and Frasier, Fryman notably directed all but 11 episodes of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. American Vandal co-creator Yacenda also directed every episode of his Netflix true-crime spoof, and St. Onge took over as director for the second and third seasons of Audience Network sitcom You Me Her, about ...

Most viewers will know Shenae Grimes-Beech as Annie, the girl next door in Beverly Hills spin–off 90210 or youngster Darcy Edwards on Degrassi: The Next Generation. But she tells Deadline that her latest role, playing a street-smart cop with a messy personal life in procedural The Detail allows her to stop being typecast and marks the next chapter of her acting career.
The Detail is one of the hot titles for international producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) at Mip TV, which kicks off this weekend and the company will be hoping that the show travels around the world with the same success as other North American procedurals.
The show is produced by Icf Films in association with eOne for Canadian broadcaster CTV and has already been picked up by Ion in the U.S. Deadline spoke to Grimes-Beech and co-star Angela Griffin about the show, which follows three female homicide detectives,...

The Cfc is kind of a big deal for Canadian artists and over the years has helped boost the profile of a number of projects and directors including the darkly humorous family drama, Siblings, Holly Dale's Blood & Donuts, Sara St. Onge's coming of age drama Molly Maxwell (review) and perhaps most notably to our readers, Vincenzo Natali's Cube.
The Cfc doesn't only support feature film but also shorts and this year, they've produced a pair of really fantastic shorts which are both premiering at Tiff in the Short Cuts Canada program.
Anatomy of Assistance is the third short from Cory Bowles, likely better known to audiences as Cory from "The Trailer [Continued ...]...

Tens of thousands of people are about to converge on Canada's largest city for one of the world's largest film events, socializing and networking all over town. And while many of them have probably been around the Toronto block a few times in the past, you never know what's new to discover in the area. Indiewire surveyed a group of Toronto locals and insiders about their favorites places to eat, drink, shop and chill, including some of our own tips from Indiewire staffer (and on again, off again Torontonian) Peter Knegt. The results of our informal, subjective survey -- which keeps in mind the southern geographic shift of the festival -- follow. Insider tips and suggestions were provided by local filmmakers Pat Mills and Sara St. Onge, Tiff staffer Jennifer MacFarlane, EOne's Lynne Crocker, Kerry Butt, co-owner of Queen West clothing staple The Future of Frances Watson, local media artists Shannon Linde and Alexis Ronse,...

Here at Twitch I've had the opportunity to do a number of long form interviews with the likes of Guillermo Del Toro and Bill Paxton, well established filmmakers that when given the opportunity to properly express themselves outside of simple soundbytes have fascinating things to say about cinema. I thought I'd try something of similar scope with a filmmaker unfamiliar to most. I sat down with director Sara St. Onge over hot drinks to chat at length about her first feature, Molly Maxwell. The film is charming, provocative, and quite well done, a far cry from the glossiness of High School films that traditional Hollywood spits out. At its core is the story of a young girl who falls for one of her teachers,...

Scott Laurie's back in the Anchor's chair, and we got to talk about Cruise's latest film that seems to incorporate just about every Sci-Fi film ever made, but in a kind of good way. Also chatted about Molly Maxwell by Director Sara St. Onge, a charming, nuanced tale of a high school girl falling for her teacher that succeeds by avoiding many pitfalls that usually beset such a tale. Finally, a tease of a couple films that'll be opening at Hotdocs this week, including The Manor, Muscle Shoals, and Tales From The Organ Trade....

Why She's On Our Radar: Sara St. Onge's feature film debut "Molly Maxwell" will open the Museum of Modern Art's 2013 Canadian Front series tonight in New York. After making a series of endearing short films -- "The Funeral," “Turkey” and “Lobotomobile" -- that screened at Sundance and Toronto (to name a few) -- St. Onge dives into feature-length territory with the incredibly affecting and charming "Maxwell." Taking on the teacher-student relationship in a refreshingly optimistic way, the film screens at MoMA tonight at 7pm and then again on Saturday at 8pm. It also begins a Canadian theatrical run on April 19th at the Carlton Cinema in Toronto. What's Next: St. Onge is currently working on the script for a new film, "Swan Dive," which she describes as "an exploration of a modern young woman becoming a stepmom, which is sometimes dark, sometimes funny, but most importantly real and complicated and messy.
