Born in Oakland, California, Jon was raised in a multicultural family that took him to Argentina, Israel, and Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis, and trained as an actor at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
Jon has worked on popular TV shows such as
Parks and Recreation (2009) and
Transparent (2014), as well as films like
First We Take Brooklyn (2018) and
Empty (2011).
As a screenwriter, Jon sold his first two screenplays,
First We Take Brooklyn (2018) and
Mob Town (2019), which starred the likes of
Harvey Keitel,
David Arquette,
Jennifer Esposito and
P.J. Byrne.
In 2019, Jon made his directorial debut with the sleeper hit film,
Feral State (2020). The film was a critical and commercial success, and was picked up by Hulu for global distribution.
Jon's recently directed the pilot for
Better Daze (2022) which was an official selection at the Mammoth International Festival.
