A few months ago, we heard that Denise Richards (Valentine) had signed on to star in Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace, a sequel to the 2020 action horror film called Angels Fallen. Angels Fallen was distributed by Uncork’d Entertainment, and that company will be releasing the sequel sometime in 2023. With the new year quickly approaching, a teaser trailer for Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace has been unveiled and can be seen in the embed above.
Richards was in the news last month because she was shot at in a road rage incident. Thankfully, she made it through that situation unharmed.

Uncork’d Entertainment has acquired the horror feature “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace,” featuring Denise Richards and set for release in summer 2023. Richards plays a tough weapons expert who clearly knows how to give demons the what-for, and you can see for yourself in the first teaser, exclusively via TheWrap.
And if that’s not enough, scroll down to see first look images.
Also featuring Arifin Putra (“The Raid 2”) and starring Josh Burdett, “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace” sees a group of demon hunters led by Gabriel — an Afghan war vet struggling with some personal demons of his own — on a mission to defeat a terrifying army of the undead. Outfitted, of course, with some fairly awesome weapons by Richards’ character.
Given that the trailer confirms that, per the title, the Angels have already fallen, things look bad for our heroes. Luckily for them, and us, things look likely to get pretty gross,...

Joko Anwar, despite having only a handful of films to his credit, has already become a prominent name among international cinema fans, with a filmography that includes entries in horror, thrillers, comedies, and dramatic romances. With his latest feature A Copy of my Mind making its North American debut at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, Anwar is already onto his next project.
His next project significantly differs, however, in that it’ll see Anwar follow many of his Hollywood contemporaries and make the jump from film to television. The series, titled Halfworlds, will be an HBO Asia original project, with Anwar taking on directing duties, as well as co-writing it with Collin Chang. The synopsis of the series is as follows.

The top 10 run-down of our favourite 2014 films begins with Gareth Evans' violent action gangster sequel, The Raid 2...
Over the past few weeks, Den of Geek writers have been voting for their favourite films of the year. In 10th place is operatic gangster action banquet, The Raid 2. Here's why...
10. The Raid 2
When Gareth Evans' The Raid: Redemption burst on to cinema screens in 2011, action movie fans rejoiced. Here was a film that relied on pure, scintillating fight choreography and inventive direction to produce one of the finest action films in years. A sequel surely beckoned, and in 2014, The Raid 2 arrived; bigger, badder and with a considerable amount of attitude.
The tower block of The Raid was merely a microcosm for the wider fight against corruption and organised crime in Jakarta and, picking up from where the first film left off, Rama (Iko Uwais) finds himself going undercover.

2012's The Raid came with a flurry of fanfare following a series of festival screenings touting it as a masterpiece of action cinema. Written and directed by Gareth Evans the film no doubt featured some impressive action choreography, but the story was non-existent to the point of boredom. That said, to say my expectations for The Raid 2 were limited is an understatement. When I saw it runs two-and-a-half hours my interest dwindled even more, expecting to see it, if ever, on Blu-ray. Well, I did and I'm very glad I did, proving expectations can sometimes cause you to miss something great. The immediate comparison here is to say The Raid 2 is to The Raid what Infernal Affairs 2 is to Infernal Affairs, but that's to give The Raid too much credit. The comparison to Infernal Affairs 2 alone, however, is apt. The two films follow somewhat similar storylines,...

The Raid 2 - Sony Pictures Classics - Blu-ray and DVD Director: Gareth Evans Cast: Iko Uwais, Yayan Ruhian, Arifin Putra, Oka Antara, Tio Pakusadewo. Full cast + crew Everything you've heard about The Raid 2 is true. The action is absolutely insane, taking things to a level of ridiculous practicality that is flat-out missing from Hollywood action movies. The scope of the story is surprisingly large and dense, which in turn elevates the stakes of the action. There plenty of martial arts movies that have great action and silly plots. The Raid 2 eats those movies for breakfast. It is also quite long, the plot is possibly a bit too dense for its own good, and the violence is just insane. But complaining about those elements in this scenario is...

If you haven't yet taken the time to see The Raid: Redemption, you're missing out on one of the greatest action films of the past decade. And if you haven't seen that film, then there's a good chance you're currently missing out on the incredible sequel The Raid 2: Berandal, which is playing in theaters everywhere now (though it might have left some theaters after only a week of playing). Director Gareth Evans has plenty of things he needs to teach American action filmmakers, and now he gives us some insight into the action he likes by counting down his five favorite actions scenes, complete with footage and explanations of each. Here's director Gareth Evans counting down his five favorite action scenes with SlashFilm: The Raid 2: Berandal, the sequel to The Raid, is written and directed by Welsh born filmmaker Gareth Evans who also directed the first film. When you are, first and foremost, a huge movie fanboy, sometimes reviewing movies that hold a bigger almost unattainable awesomeness in you mind poses a tricky proposition. Being a fan and writing about movies can at times come across very scattered and unfocused. So you try to temper than and present your enthusiasm in a fair and objective way. But sometimes that can come across as being a little too stale and calculated. Thus is my dilemma with The Raid 2: Berandal . I’ve have waited with ridiculously excitable anticipation for this film since I walked out of the The Raid: Redemption. I want everyone to see this movie but I also want to present my arguments for that without sounding like the Led Zeppelin fan in Almost Famous. This has happened to...

In 2012 Gareth Evans burst onto the scene with The Raid: Redemption. He took a simple concept and filled it with some of the most engaging and inventive action seen in years. Now two years later he is back at again to prove it was not a fluke. The Raid 2 shows Evans has a knack for pushing the boundaries of cinematic action. With a larger budget behind him, he ups the scale of each set-piece without hindering his cleverness. Breaking away from the simple concept of the original does lead to an overly plotting story that gets lost in its own elaborate setup. Still, any fan of the original or any fan of action would be doing themselves a huge disservice if they do not experience what...

The Raid 2
Written and directed by Gareth Evans
Indonesia, 2014
If there is an art to the visceral brutality of cinematic violence, Gareth Evans may well be one of the new masters. His breakout 2012 feature, The Raid: Redemption, was a master class of simplicity, placing a rookie cop (Iko Uwais) in the middle of a high-rise apartment building full of criminals who are all ordered to kill him and his colleagues by the drug lord who reigns supreme on the top floor. That was all the plot Evans needed to craft an expert martial-arts action film, and it worked marvelously. The easy route for a sequel, perhaps, would be to offer more of the same: maybe a bigger building, or more fearsome bad guys in a similarly contained setting. Instead, The Raid 2 shifts into a different, more expansive, but no less relentlessly violent gear.
After his exploits in the high-rise,...

In the original Indonesian action film Raid: The Redemption from 2011, Welsh writer/director Gareth Evans didn’t bother much with story or character development, instead making his film a kind of videogame-inspired siege. Rookie cop Rama (Iko Uwais) powered his way through a 15-story tenement infested with killers, gangsters, and mobsters in a war that left bodies literally piled in the halls. Though Raid: The Redemption had a slight story, it was an unbelievably violent and excitingly frenetic film, a non-stop orgy of brilliantly choreographed fight scenes that scored on so many levels. With the sequel, The Raid 2, Evans has applied the same high-impact directorial style to a sprawling, more complex, The Departed-like story about crime family dynamics, corrupt politicians, moral dilemmas and mixed loyalties. The result is a 2 ½ hour epic of compelling drama punctuated by fist-pumping action, and stomach-churning violence that barely gives the audience a moment to catch their breath.

If sequels are meant to take original concepts to bigger, better and greater heights, "The Raid 2: Berandal" succeeds in every sense. The film is longer, the plot thicker and the fight choreography even more spectacular than the first film, "The Raid: Redemption."
It's not without its issues though. The movie's ambitious storyline runs into pacing problems during the first act, while the second act pushes the audience's ability to count how many characters can fit into a single movie. As a result, it's tough to keep track of who's who, and pivotal moments may go over the top of viewers' heads since they're so busy watching other people's heads get kicked in.
Speaking of head kicking, Iko Uwais returns as Rama, the family man, silat expert, and super cop who's essentially survived a trip to hell and back. But there's no rest for the film's weary hero,...

After all, how do you follow such a game-changing masterpiece that led hordes of astounded viewers to seek Botox injections to remedy the wrinkles caused by all the wincing? How does any movie in the action genre follow it? Yet against the odds, The Raid 2 pummels the doubters into submission and emerges triumphant.
Writer-director Gareth Evans and star/choreographer Iko Uwais have succeeded by expanding the canvas from apartment block to cityscape, with an incredulous array of death-defying fight sequences layered on top of an absorbing, revenge-fuelled storyline that's a direct continuation from its predecessor. Chicago – Two years ago, the Indonesian film, “The Raid: Redemption”, smacked action movie fans upside the head. To briefly sum it up, it was nuts. The straight-forward plot took a backseat to some amazing stunt work, an insane amount of creative choreography and in-your-face violence. There’s no need to worry about the sequel, “The Raid 2,” not living up to the original.
..since the highly-anticipated follow up is bigger and faster and even offers an in depth story to wrap your brain around – while getting hit upside the head once again.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
Taking place a mere two hours after the previous film, we catch up with battered rookie Swat member, Rama (Iko Uwais), who’s brought in corrupt cop, Wahyu (Pierre Gruno), and is now being taken in by a mysterious group within the police force that has a specific focus. Editor’s note: Our review of The Raid 2 originally ran during this year’s Sundance film festival, but we’re re-posting it now as the film opens in limited theatrical release. Let’s just dispense with the hyperbole right now. Yes, The Raid 2 will in fact cure any and all ailments, make you irresistible to the opposite sex, give you the winning lottery numbers, do your math homework for you, wash the dishes, and happily go down on you without expecting the same in return. Or not. But even without all of that it should be more than enough that Gareth Evans‘ follow up to his 2011 action hit is without a doubt one of the most brilliantly executed, excitingly choreographed, bone-crunchingly fantastic action films your eyes have ever had the distinct pleasure of seeing and hearing. The action picks up almost immediately after the conclusion of part one as Rama (Iko Uwais) brings the dirty...

The Raid 2 is a beautifully brutal ballet, a symphony of destruction if you will, masterfully choreographed with the grace of Swan Lake – just with a tad more blood, broken bodies, and blown open skulls. Gareth Evans follows one of the best action movies in years (The Raid) with an action sequel that makes the Mad Dog tag team rumble seem like child’s play – an inconceivable task. Evans expands upon his universe, abandoning the one building setting, and is able to create vibrant characters and captivating surroundings – but we’re here for the ass kicking. The Raid 2 is stylish, relentless, pulse-pounding action that packs a heavyweight punch, leaving the competition bloody, bruised, and begging for mercy. You’re not going to find action with more fury and flair anywhere else.

Subtitled 'Berandal', or 'hooligans' in Indonesian, The Raid 2 is actually a much more sophisticated brew than the word implies. Far from just a brawny Iko Uwais punch-up, Gareth Evans' follow-up to his much-loved movie sets the action - and there's plenty of it - against a gangland backdrop with shades of Hamlet, The Godfather and the yakuza flicks of Takeshi Kitano and Kinji Fukasaku. This new behind-the-scenes piece, fresh in via Vimeo, tells it straight from the horse's mouth. brightcove.createExperiences(); Picking up the story hours after The Raid left it, bruised and battered, the sequel broadens out the world of Jakarta cop Rama (Uwais) to encompass the Bangun crime family. It's into this den of nastiness, led by crooked but essentially honourable patriarch (Tio Pakusadewo) and his grasping young son Uco (Arifin Putra), that Rama must disappear when he's sent uncover to root out the bent cops in cohoots with Bangun.

Sundance just ended, and we are already preparing for the next big film festival, South By Southwest. Not too long ago, the festival announced a few of the films premiering this year, but now they’ve announced the main slate. The midnight selections and some inevitable late-breaking additions are still to be announced, but this should be more than enough to get you excited. Along with many World Premieres, and Sundance favorites like Richard Linklater’s Boyhood and Gareth Evans’ The Raid 2, the line up also includes an anniversary screening of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and an extended Q&A screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel with Wes Anderson. SXSW 2014 runs March 7 through 15 in Austin, Texas. Check out the line up after the jump.
