Paloma Riojas is a 1st-gen American, proud of her Mexican roots. She loves writing character-driven, genre-bending, untold stories that authentically explore the complexities of being human. Paloma is developing multiple writing projects with Paradiso Media, Scooter Braun Productions, and Cedar Park Entertainment. In 2019, Paloma wrote-produced over 50 short-form documentaries on youth activism, veganism, and climate change featured in over 400 news outlets. The series won two Silver Telly Awards.
Paloma was the Writer's Assistant on Showtime's Your Honor S2 and Happy Face for Paramount+. She was selected for the Outfest Screenwriting Lab 2022, The Black List - Latinx TV List, and the Mentorship Matters Intensive, sponsored by Amazon, Netflix, and CBS, to name a few. She's been featured on the La Lista podcast, Hulu's All Accents Welcome, and the AFC Indie Filmmaking podcast.
Previously, Paloma collaborated for five years with filmmaker Diego Luna. She co-wrote and produced Nana, a short film directed by Diego that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Paloma has also created bilingual content for the Cesar Chavez Foundation, AT&T, and Honda. Paloma's Spanish language short film Adán premiered at the Cannes Court Métrage in 2013. The film earned her the Audience Award and Jury Award at the Diversity in Cannes Showcase. It also screened at the San Diego Latino Film Festival and won best short film at the Highland Park Film Festival '14 in Los Angeles. Paloma's other short-form work has played at other various film festivals including LA Short Fest, New York International Latino Film Festival, Athens International Festival, and the USC First Look Festival.
Paloma has a Master of Fine Arts in Film/TV Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. While at USC, she interned at CAA and Plan B Entertainment. She lives with her wife in Southern California and writes by the beach as much as possible. She's repped by United Talent Agency and Heroes and Villians Entertainment.
