Update: Soon after this story was published, a source reached out to Variety to confirm that “Daisy Jones and the Six” will not be getting a Season 2 because “it was always planned as a limited series.”
Despite the success of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” star Riley Keough says the band isn’t getting back together anytime soon.
Despite fans hoping — and demanding — a second season of the Prime Video miniseries adaptation of Tara Jenkin Reid’s best-selling novel, Keough tells me, “I would love to but I don’t know if it’s in the cards…I haven’t heard anything.”
The series followed Daisy Jones (Keough) and her bandmates as they make their way through the Los Angeles music scene of the 1970s. The series premiered just over a year ago to positive reviews. Keough and Morrone earned Emmy nominations as did the show for outstanding limited or anthology series.

Canada, the home of winter, looks to have no shortage of snowy inns set against fairytale-like landscapes with piles and piles of the white, fluffy stuff.
That’s because Hallmark, long a major producer of Christmas TV movies, shoots a lot of holiday flicks in Canada, even if the plotlines are set south of the border. So do a lot of other U.S. producers for whom British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario offer real snow, iconic mountains and other varied wintry locations to keep American producers in furry parkas coming north with their cameras and Hollywood stars.
In fact, there’s more to budget-friendly production tricks than fake snow on these TV movie shoots, as humble Canada stands in small-town America strung with colorful lights. Shooting north of the border allows producers to tap generous tax breaks and currency savings, seasoned local actors and crews and ample studios and costume...

Freya Allan, who plays Cirilla on the Netflix series The Witcher, has a lead role in the upcoming horror film Baghead, which is aiming for a January 2024 release. Now The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Allan has signed on to star in another genre project, the fantasy horror thriller Triton!
Triton is already in production in Athens, Greece. Allan is joined in the cast by Josh Whitehouse (Daisy Jones and the Six), Raff Law, Elsie Hewitt (Dave), musician Malcolm McRae, and Luc Besson’s daughter Thalia Besson, who recently had a role in Ray Liotta’s last film, Dangerous Waters.
Janell Shirtcliff is directing the film and crafted the story with screenwriter Angie Simms. That story centers on three young women who, while in a vacation in Greece, run afoul of three charismatic young men who prove to be much more than they seem.

New fantasy horror movie Triton is filming now in Athens, Greece. Per THR, the horror thriller has found its lead in “The Witcher” star Freya Allan.
Janell Shirtcliff directs the fantasy horror film that all but certainly draws from Greek mythology.
Triton will follow “three young women who, while in a vacation in Greece, run afoul of three charismatic young men who prove to be much more than they seem.”
Josh Whitehouse, Raff Law, Elsie Hewitt, Thalia Besson, and musician Malcolm McRae are also toplining the horror feature.
Triton is based off a story by Shirtcliff and Angie Simms, with Simms writing the script.
In Greek mythology, Triton was the son of gods Poseidon and Aphrodite, and is often depicted as a merman. So here’s to hoping that some aquatic horror makes its way into Triton. Killer mermen, perhaps?
Not much else is known about the fantasy horror project at this time,...

There’s been talk of the cast of “Daisy Jones & The Six” performing the music from the hit Prime Video series — and that talk is still going on.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “Daisy Jones” showrunner Scott Neustadter was asked if there was a chance that members of the cast would ever embark on a live concert to perform the songs from the series.
“Everybody involved really wants it to [happen],” he said, noting that scheduling and logistics is the key stumbling block.

Earlier this year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable. And now Nicks has taken to social media to share what she thought of the Prime series. In short, she loved it!
Developed for television by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, Daisy Jones & The Six has the following synopsis: In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world. Fronted by two heat seeking missiles in Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out...

We’ve all made the “Cop Rock” jokes. The Steven Bochco musical drama, which premiered in fall 1990, was a big swing: marrying original music with procedural storytelling. It was a colossal flop that we still talk about three decades later, and a reminder that musicals are hard.
Music has been a part of the TV landscape going back to the 1950s and shows like “Your Hit Parade.” But few series have successfully integrated regular music performances into their storytelling: “The Monkees” and “The Partridge Family” worked in the 1960s and ’70s. “Fame” did it in the early ’80s. And then “Cop Rock” scared people off the concept.
The 1990s animation boom incorporated music in shows like “The Simpsons” and “Animaniacs.” But not until the 21st century did scripted series really figure out how to make musical numbers work as part of the narrative. “Flight of the Conchords” did it with satiric tracks,...

With all this talk about the cast of Daisy Jones & The Six basically becoming a real-life rock band, it’s natural that there would be whispers about a possible tour.

Book adaptations have given us some of the most beloved movies and TV shows of all time, and the Amazon Prime Video series "Daisy Jones & The Six" has become just that for many of its fans. The show is based on the hit novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which follows the titular rock band, a fictional group inspired by some of music's icons. The series released its final season one episodes on March 24, and readers will probably be surprised by how much the show has changed from the book that inspired it. The main story is still intact, following the rise and fall of Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin), Daisy Jones (Riley Keough), Camila Dunne (Camila Morrone), Graham Dunne (Will Harrison), Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse), and company. But there are big differences to how they get to the top, how things fall apart, and where they end up landing. Reid...

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers for Episode 9 of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” titled “Feels Like the First Time.”
At the beginning of Episode 9 of “Daisy Jones & the Six,” viewers are greeted by a needle drop that may seem too good to be true: As Daisy (Riley Keough) wakes up from almost overdosing the night before, Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” starts to play.
As the mystical track builds, Daisy realizes that her husband, Nicky (Gavin Drea), abandoned her while she was near death, leaving Daisy in the arms of Billy (Sam Claflin), her bandmate and frequent temptation. While Stevie Nicks sings “is it over now, do you know how?/ Pick up the pieces and go home,” Daisy yells at Nicky to “pack his shit up” and leave while the rest of the Six form a united front behind her.

[Warning: This story contains spoilers for Daisy Jones & the Six.]
Since its March 3 premiere, Daisy Jones & the Six has been headline-making for many reasons — the fan anticipation of seeing one of the highest-selling books (one million and counting) of the past few years finally pivot to the small screen, the staggering amount of original music performed by the cast, the uncanny resemblance of lead Riley Keough to her late mother. For star Will Harrison, who plays Six member Graham Dunne, the Prime Video show is most notable because it was one of his very first auditions out of his Bfa program.
“I actually heard about it because my friend was working for the casting office and thought I could be good for the show,” Harrison tells The Hollywood Reporter. “They were doing a worldwide search for Billy Dunne, so I was like 20 years old auditioning for the role that went to Sam Claflin, which was never going to work out.

The Prime Video series Daisy Jones & The Six referenced several of the 1970s most infamous bars and clubs of the Sunset Strip. One club with a colorful name was an actual bar that named celebrities, including Elvis Presley and Mick Jagger, as patrons. Here’s the history of Filthy McNasty’s.

Sam Claflin, Josh Whitehouse, Sebastian Chacon, Nabiyah Be and Taylor Jenkins Reid joined The Hollywood Reporter in its SXSW Studio to discuss bringing Reid’s novel Daisy Jones & The Six to the small screen at South by Southwest on Saturday.
The Amazon Prime Video original series, which follows the rise and fall of the titular band in the 1970s, is produced by Hello Sunshine and also stars Riley Keough, Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Tom Wright and Timothy Olyphant.
Reid shared that the cast “replaced” the images she had of the characters she came up with six years ago while writing the novel, which was released in 2019. “It feels so good because, as an author, it’s a very solitary experience,” she told THR during the Austin festival. “It’s me and my computer and then, like, me calling my husband in four times a day to be like,...

Reese Witherspoon played it cool when asked by THR at the Daisy Jones & The Six premiere to reveal what kind of creative notes she offered to the team behind her company Hello Sunshine’s high-profile adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling novel.
“I had some notes,” she said with a smile at the show’s premiere on Feb. 23, before reluctantly revealing a few tidbits, specifically about the show’s faux documentary scenes that feature the performers sitting down for their first interviews 20 years after the band’s final performance. “But they were the same notes as the rest of the creative team — about wanting to make sure that the documentary scenes felt as potent as the live footage.”
That’s all Witherspoon was willing to divulge. Instead, she turned her attention to compliments. “These people know exactly what they’re doing, they really didn’t need anything from me.

It’s transfer time for Phil Dunster, who has played AFC Richmond’s star striker Jamie Tartt on the Emmy-winning comedy drama Ted Lasso for three seasons. The actor is joining Gugu Mbatha-Raw on Season 2 of her psychological thriller Surface, Breaking Baz can reveal.

Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones and the Six” boasts catchy songs, an all-star cast, and killer ’70s costumes, but the series has made quite a few changes to its source material.
Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel of the same name, “Daisy Jones and the Six” stars Riley Keough as the titular Stevie Nicks-inspired rocker whose fiery passion lodges unexpected tension in rock band The Six, led by charismatic frontman Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin). Camila Morrone stars as Billy’s wife Camila, with Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse, and Sebastian Chacon playing the rest of the rock group.
The novel was devised as an oral history of the fictional band that only released one album but whose meteoric rise was only trumped by their mysterious disbandment. As the series logline puts it: Their music made them famous, their breakup made them legends. Author Reid produces, as...

In addition to disguising his British accent to star in Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & the Six,” Sam Claflin had to overcome singing like he was “on Broadway” to fully embody rocker Billy Dunne in the adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s best-selling book.
The show simultaneously follows Daisy Jones’ music pursuits while Billy Dunne takes over the band that his brother Graham (Will Harrison) started with childhood friends Eddie Roundtree (Josh Whitehouse), later recruiting keyboardist Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse) and creatively supported by Billy’s girlfriend Camila (Camila Morrone). Daisy gets a head start witnessing the growing LA rock scene on the Sunset strip, and The Six (formerly the Dunne Brothers) move to California from Pittsburgh when they decide to get serious.

To portray the eponymous lead singer in Prime Video’s new series “Daisy Jones & the Six,” Riley Keough drew from both print and audio versions of Taylor Jenkins Reid book, as well as an unexpected source — a letter written by Janis Joplin to her family.
Adapted from Reid’s New York Times bestseller, the show mixes documentary-style footage and flashbacks to follow the rise and fall of a band first called The Dunne Brothers — lead singer Billy and guitarist Graham Dunne (Will Harrison), bassist Eddie Roundtree (Josh Whitehouse) and drummer Warren Rojas (Sebastian Chacon) — later named The Six after two women — keyboardist Karen Sirko (Suki Waterhouse) and Billy’s girlfriend Camila (Camila Morrone) join the team.
Keough told TheWrap how she drew a sense of “childlike wonder” from a real-life letter that singer Janis Joplin wrote to her family. That correspondence helped Keough, the granddaughter of Elvis Presley, add...

From the moment Riley Keough heard about “Daisy Jones & the Six,” she felt it was her destiny to play the title character.
“I just knew I was gonna be Daisy,” she tells Variety about Prime Video’s adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel, which chronicles the rise and fall of a 1970s rock band. “It was very weird.”
And then the anxiety set in. Despite having music in her blood — she’s the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and daughter of the late Lisa Marie Presley — Keough says she had no professional singing experience coming into the show. That seems almost unbelievable upon hearing the first note she sings, her voice velvety yet jagged, in the debut episode.
“I was really like, I don’t know if I can do it,” Keough says of playing Daisy, a Stevie Nicks-inspired singer-songwriter who falls in lust with her bandmate Billy Dunne...

Daisy Jones & The Six may not have existed in the 1970s, but they do now.
Sam Claflin, Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, Sebastian Chacon, Josh Whitehouse, and Will Harrison bring the once-fictional rock band to life in Prime Video’s adaptation of the best-selling novel, which debuts on Friday.
“I think the band really does exist, and it’s us,” Chacon, who plays drummer Warren Rojas, told Deadline. “We played a considerable amount of time together. We really got to the point where we’re not only proficient and capable, but also very comfortable and we look like we’ve been playing together for a long time — because we have.”
If all had gone according to plan, Daisy Jones & The Six would have begun production in April of 2020.

Though you’ll undoubtedly forget many times while you’re watching it, Prime Video’s music drama Daisy Jones & The Six is not based on a true story. At least, not really. Adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name, this series about the titular band was inspired by the real life drama of classic ’70s rock group Fleetwood Mac.
While Fleetwood Mac is very much real (and great!), Daisy Jones & The Six is not real (though also great!). Still, that does not make the Behind the Music-esque drama they experience in these 10 episodes feel any less real. Contributing to that sense of verisimilitude is that the cast of Daisy Jones & The Six all fit their roles to a tee.

This article contains spoilers for the first three episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six. Details about the real life band they were inspired by may lightly spoil future events in the show.
The Prime Video series Daisy Jones & the Six is an adaptation of the 2017 book by author Taylor Jenkins Reid. The novel tells the story of a fictional 1970s California rock group who break through when a charismatic songwriting female lead vocalist grabs the mic. The identity of the group’s real-life counterpart is very thinly veiled. The tagline of the series proclaims “Their music made them famous. Their breakup made them legends.” They can’t be talking about the Beatles, who were legends before they split. Fleetwood Mac, however, sustained multiple breakups before the ensemble even thought about calling it quits.

Plot: In 1977, Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world. Fronted by two charismatic lead singers—Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin)—the band had risen from obscurity to fame. And then, after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits. Now, decades later, the band members finally agree to reveal the truth. This is the story of how an iconic band imploded at the height of its powers.

The proliferation of television documentaries and mockumentaries has stretched the bounds of the format to imaginative extremes. Technology is testing our perceptions of ethical filmmaking, “Abbott Elementary” marks the latest hit sitcom to rely on talking heads for laughs, and “Documentary Now!” is an entire series made up of fake “docs” spoofing real documentaries. But whether you’re enjoying the explosion of documentary styles or fearing that a once-serious medium has jumped the shark, nothing can prepare you for the sheer lunacy on display in “Daisy Jones and the Six.”
Prime Video’s extensively misguided adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s 2019 novel makes its first and most notable blunder in attempting to map the book’s “oral history” template — which recounts the turbulent formation, success, and dissolution of a fictional ’70s rock ‘n’ roll band — onto a documentary structure. The series’ opening shots see each band member sitting down to be interviewed,...

Based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel of the same name, Daisy Jones & The Six follows the roots and rise of a '70s band.
It's clearly an homage to Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham's tumultuous relationship, with Riley Keough and Sam Claflin playing their roles as Margaret "Daisy" Jones and Billy Dunne.
But aside from the musical influence and romantic entanglements and the era, Daisy Jones & The Six is an original, well-plotted story that has all the features of a rock documentary, including catchy music that will stay with you once the series ends.
Billy Dunne and his brother Graham (Will Harrison) start a band called The Dunne Brothers in their hometown of Pittsburgh with their best friends Eddie Roundtree (Josh Whitehouse) and Warren Rhodes (Sebastian Chacon).
Through a chance encounter with a tour manager played by Timothy Olyphant, the four young men yearn...

In Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel Daisy Jones & the Six, an oral history of a fictional Seventies rock band that imploded at the height of its fame, we get conflicting accounts of how the band became known as the Six before the troubled Daisy joined as the seventh member. The surviving musicians disagree on specifics, but all concur that it had to do with there being six people in the group at the time.
In Amazon Prime’s adaptation, the pre-Daisy incarnation of the band has one fewer member.

In 1978, the Kinks sang: “He just spends his life, living in a rock ‘n’ roll fantasy; He just spends his life, living on the edge of reality.” This mid-1970s sentiment of California dreamin’ foregrounds a young woman with that same impossible, crazy and ultimately disenchanting dream — singer, songwriter, flame-haired trainwreck Daisy Jones played by the perfectly cast firecracker Riley Keough, Elvis’ granddaughter, in Amazon Prime Video’s “Daisy Jones & the Six.”
It’s part the familiar saga of the rise and splatter of a band like “Fleetwood Mac,” circa the album “Rumours:” the drugs, the demons and the outsized desires of its members. And then, driven by a spectacular performance by Keough, it’s about the power of finding one’s voice and hoping the journey liberates rather than destroys the seeker.

Packaged as a rock n' roll rollercoaster, "Daisy Jones & The Six" is hiding a not-so-secret soft side. Once you set aside the hardcore drugs, the brimming tensions, and the inner turmoil, the Prime Video series is really about the essence of creativity. Made collaborative, making music (and any other kind of art) is a uniquely intimate experience: one with the power to make or break a band on the cusp of greatness. An adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's bestselling novel, "Daisy Jones & The Six" doesn't just chronicle the rise of the titular musical act — it recounts their legendary fall. The fictional rock band fronted by Daisy Jones (Riley Keough) and Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) is world renowned because they burned bright and brief, then abruptly imploded. The series picks up 20 years after their surprise final performance, in the form of a tell-all documentary, to finally reveal what went wrong,...

In one of their very first arguments, Billy (Sam Claflin) bristles at Daisy (Riley Keough) reworking the lyrics to the song he’s just written. From his perspective, it’s fine as the straightforward declaration of love that it is; from hers, it’s missed potential to dig deeper. To Billy’s great irritation, their producer Teddy (Tom Wright) sides with Daisy. “You wrote a good song,” he tells Billy. “Not a great one.”
Daisy Jones & The Six, Amazon’s adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel about a fictional band in the 1970s Los Angeles rock scene, is a good show, not a great one. There’s much about it worth celebrating, especially for readers who’ve long dreamt of seeing these characters brought to life and listening to their hit album Aurora for real. But somewhere in the process of trying to deliver exactly what’s expected of it,...
