It’s hard to believe how many hurdles Seal Team has survived throughout its run.
The hit military drama started as a CBS original and was moved to Paramount+ as a streaming original several years ago amid concerns for its future.
After beating the odds for so many years, we’re about to say goodbye for good as Seal Team Season 7 will conclude the David Boreanaz-led drama.
While the seventh season was ordered over a year ago, fans have been anxiously awaiting word on a premiere date.
Thankfully, Boreanaz took to Instagram to share an update on the premiere date and a first look at the script for the series finale.
The actor noted that the “last word is on the table,” before sharing, “August here we come.”

“One, never underestimate your opponent. Expect the unexpected. Two, take it outside. Never start anything inside the bar unless it’s absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.” Those words, uttered by Patrick Swayze’s James Dalton in 1989’s Road House, are the rules to defending a roadhouse, and watching Doug Liman’s remake, you may find yourself wishing that someone had told the filmmakers that a little bit of number three goes a long way, because this nihilistic retooling of Rowdy Herrington’s cult classic is anything but.
In the remake, Jake Gyllenhaal’s former Mma fighter Eldwood Dalton scrapes together a living by scamming amateur fighters who, after stepping into an underground ring with him, automatically back down, as they’re familiar with his violent past. Things start to look up for him when he’s sought out by Frankie (Jessica Williams), who offers to put him up in...

In the era of action films like John Wick, the bar for adrenaline-fueled entertainment has been set high. And when it comes to remakes, there exists a fine line that must be walked between regard for the original and fresh perspectives.
Doug Liman directs the remake of the classic1989 film Road House, which premiered Friday in the Headliner category at SXSW 2024. Unfortunately, this remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal delivers a lackluster and ultimately unnecessary retread of the original Patrick Swayze-starring film.
Central to the movie is Gyllenhaal’s Dalton, a former UFC brawler grappling with his past. Struggling to get by on his reputation, Dalton catches the eye of Frankie (Jessica Williams), who owns a roadhouse in the picturesque Florida Keys. She recruits him as her new bouncer, aiming to protect her cherished establishment from a ruthless gang under the command of the local criminal overlord, Brandt (Billy Magnussen).

A Road House remake is coming to Amazon Prime Video later this year, but there's a lot more to it than just your average remake.
Besides a seemingly new plot and new location, the film has also been embroiled in drama in recent months, from casting choices to producers.
Here's everything we know about the reboot of Road House and the drama involved in making the movie.
Why Are They Remaking Road House?
The reason why they decided to remake the 1989 cult classic remains unknown, but talks of the remake have been going on for nearly ten years.
In 2015, Variety reported that Ronda Rousey would be taking on the classic role of the bouncer, previously played by Patrick Swayze.
At the time, MGM was ready to start production in 2016, having already done other cult classic spinoffs, such as the Rocky spinoff Creed.

Things are getting rowdy behind the scenes at “Road House.”
On Wednesday, Variety reported that the new “Road House” could have avoided a streaming debut, but before production began Amazon gave “the filmmakers and (star Jake) Gyllenhaal” a choice: $60 million budget and theatrical; $85 million and streaming. They chose the latter.
“The filmmakers” presumably refers to director Doug Liman and producer Joel Silver.
“They all took the money,” a source told Variety.
Amazon declined comment on this story, as did a rep for Liman. Reps for Gyllenhaal and Silver did not immediately respond to IndieWire’s request for comment.
A bigger budget typically means a larger upfront payday for the filmmakers and their star(s). Without a theatrical run, those principals won’t see nearly as much on the back end. The best of both worlds would be getting more upfront money and then turning in such an undeniable blockbuster that...

Jake Gyllenhaal is the Mr. Rogers of bar brawls in the first look at Doug Liman’s updated take on the Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliott 1989 classic, Road House.
In the trailer, which is nearly two and a half minutes of nonstop knockouts, Gyllenhaal leads as Elwood Dalton, an ex-UFC middleweight fighter who takes one too many hits, and it’s not clear he can — or wants to — get back up. He’s living out of his beat-up car and participating in underground fighting rings when he’s found by Jessica Williams’ bar owner, who invites him to come work for her.
“A friend of mine suggested I come talk to you. I own a roadhouse out in the Florida Keys. Lately it’s been attracting the wrong clientele,” she tells him. “I can pay you good money. Judging by your car, you need that shit.”

Bravo Team, as we know it, is probably over.
That much we've been pondering since Seal Team Season 6 wrapped up this year with Jason opening up about his afflictions.
With many other SEALs coming to his side, it gave the sense that the show was traveling in a very different direction.
With Seal Team Season 7 officially serving as the last-ever hurrah for the series, there have been many questions about where the show could go next.
Now, months away from the season premiere, we're getting an idea... and it sounds pretty darn interesting.
Deadline reported this week that Beau Knapp (The Lost Symbol) has been handed the series regular role of Drew Franklin.
Yes, the series is adding a new series regular with just 10 episodes to wrap up the story of every other returning character.

New Regency’s Jeff Nichols-directed crime drama The Bikeriders is getting shopped to rival studios and streamers after the movie stepped off its Dec. 1 theatrical release date, Deadline has confirmed.
New Regency has a deal at 20th Century Studios/Disney, which was originally set to release the movie. 20th Century Studios/Disney had Gareth Edwards’ brilliant sci-fi action movie The Creator starring John David Washington and that $80M production didn’t do well earlier this fall, released during the actors strike and grossing $40.7M stateside, $104M WW. When it comes to releasing movies outside its brands of Marvel, Pixar, Animation, and Lucasfilm, Disney’s forte has rarely been in the adult feature space versus other studios such as A24, Universal, Warner Bros who can eventize such fare.

It’s been a hot minute since we heard an update about an upcoming remake of The Saint starring Regé-Jean Page. Still, Deadline is here to blow the dust off this project with word that Doug Liman is officially directing The Saint remake. In addition to his starring role, Page will executive produce with Lorenzo Dibonaventura, Brad Krevoy, and the late Robert Evans.
Plot details for The Saint remake remain a mystery. However, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani are working on the script. The Saint is based on the 1920s book series that follows Simon Templar, also known as The Saint. Often described as a Robin Hood-like criminal and thief for hire, Simon can usually be found traveling the globe and looking for adventure. As I said, plot details on the new project are confidential at this time, though sources indicate that the team is working around the clock to reimagine the character.

Tracing the evolution of a fictional motorbike gang known as the Vandals, writer-director Jeff Nichols’s The Bikeriders takes its inspiration from a photobook of the same name by influential mid-20th-century photographer Danny Lyon. A major contributor to the “new realism” photography movement, Lyon lived alongside his leather-clad petrolhead subjects for months at a time, helping him create urgent, spontaneous images of their outlaw lifestyle that oozed authenticity. Unfortunately, those latter qualities are in short supply in the film, but the sheer exuberance of the story and the stylistic brio of Nichols’s direction often compensate.
The Bikeriders is narrated by Kathy (Jodie Comer), the girlfriend of fiercely committed young Vandals member Benny (Austin Butler). She relays the idiosyncrasies and transgressions of the gang from a slight remove as it evolves from a blue-collar fraternity and surrogate family to a nihilistic crime syndicate. As endearing as Kathy’s disapproving bemusement can be,...

London film festival Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy are magnetic in this power struggle-cum-love triangle inspired by Danny Lyon’s 1968 photographic study of Chicago bikers
Jeff Nichols’s motorcycle movie is about a love triangle and a succession crisis – inspired by the immersive 1968 study of Chicago bikers by photojournalist Danny Lyon, whose black-and-white pictures flash up with the closing credits. This film opens up the storytelling throttle with a throaty growl, delivering the doomy romance of an old-fashioned western and the thrills of a mob drama.

Some films merely offer you a clockwork plot. Others, like Jeff Nichols’ smokin’ cool “The Bikeriders,” whisk you away with a roar of mood and atmosphere.
That’s no surprise coming from the versatile director of “Mud,” “Loving” and “Midnight Special,” all seemingly different (but equally wondrous) films with one common denominator: a precise, wistful sense of place and tone. As soon as we spot Austin Butler on a bar stool sporting a badass Vandals Chicago jacket on his back, that exacting disposition is evident here, too. With appealingly greased and molded hair, Butler looks like he just stepped away from the “Elvis” set for a swift cigarette break, wearing the invincible aura of a movie star like it’s his second skin. Vandals is the name of the motorbike clique Butler’s terse Benny is a part of. And to get him to take that jacket off—like a...

20th Century Studios has released the trailer for Jeff Nichols’ upcoming motorcycle gang drama “The Bikeriders,” starring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy. The film opened the Telluride Film Festival on Aug. 31 to critical acclaim. Its theatrical release is scheduled for Dec. 1.
Based on Danny Lyon’s 1968 book of black-and white photographs, “The Bikeriders” follows a fictional Midwestern biker gang in 1965 Chicago called the Vandals. Austin Butler stars as Benny, a quietly smoldering young man who, like elder gang member and founder Johnny (Hardy), is unconditionally devoted to the club. Jodie Comer stars as Kathy, Benny’s wife who fell for him at a young age and grapples with the consequences of Benny’s involvement in the group. The trailer reveals that the gang eventually gets involved with criminal activity and shows the violence that followed.

Jeff Nichols’ “The Bikeriders,” starring Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy, races into theaters on Dec. 1, following a splashy debut last week at Telluride. And you can watch a brand-new trailer right now (above), to get your engine properly revved.
Based on a 1968 photo book of the same name by Danny Lyon, “The Bikeriders” is told from the point of view of Kathy (Comer), a member of a ‘60s motorcycle gang who marries a handsome new member named Benny (Butler). As the nature of the motorcycle gang changes, so too does Benny’s relationship with the group’s volatile leader Johnny (Hardy). Bursts of violence, great pompadours and tons of cool leather jackets. What more could you want?
This is, incredibly, Nichols’ first movie since his 2016 back-to-back triumphs – sci-fi chase movie “Midnight Special” and his Oscar-nominated historical drama “Loving.” For a long time Nichols was developing a new take on “Alien Nation,...

Jeff Nichols’ filmography is still young, and still showing no signs of settling in to a stylistic signature — or rut. Through such distinctive features as Take Shelter, Loving, Midnight Special and Mud, the writer-helmer has, though, established a certain directorial integrity. Valuing mood and gesture over plot or formula, his stories are propelled by an openhearted but unsentimental tenderness toward his characters, and invigorated by electrifying grace notes.
With his latest offering, the gloves, at first, seem to be off. The Bikeriders is set within a testosterone-fueled counterculture where brute stupidity frequently prevails, and many viewers will find its violence and code-of-honor brotherhood distancing, or at least familiar movie territory. But what resonates beyond the brawls and blood is a profound affection for the people onscreen — those grace notes provided by a fine cast, with Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy stirring undercurrents that are particularly affecting precisely because they’re never explicitly examined or explained.

Biker movies are almost a subgenre of films unto themselves, beginning with Marlon Brando’s The Wild One in the early ’50s and then through all those Aip exploitation titles of the ’60s including The Wild Angels, Hells Angels on Wheels and many more, notably Tom Laughlin’s predecessor to Billy Jack called Born Losers, all culminating with Easy Rider with Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson, which became the Citizen Kane of biker cinema.

There’s bound to be blood on the bar room floor when Doug Liman’s Road House remake starts a rumble in theaters. According to FilmRatings.com, the update starring Jake Gyllenhaal is Rated R for violence throughout, pervasive language, and some nudity. Today’s Road House remake rating clearly indicates that Liman won’t be holding back when the film punches its way into cinemas, and Gyllenhaal’s transformation into a chiseled behemoth won’t go to waste.
The original Road House starred Patrick Swayze as Dalton, a “cooler” hired to help clean up The Double Deuce, one of the rowdiest bars in Missouri. The film has become a cult favorite over the years, and there have been various attempts at remaking the movie. Prime Video says the new take will star Gyllenhaal as a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys.

Little Dixie is a thriller movie directed by John Swab starring Frank Grillo. With Eric Dane and Annabeth Gish.
Frank Grillo impersonates a man that navigates between two seas and between borders, a classic anti-hero who due to the circumstances has to become a hero to save his daughter, Little Dixie, whom the movie is named after.
This is a movie of black and white contrasts with grey areas in which everything happens in dark tones with even darker characters. This film which has its source in the construction of classic cinema to, in a authentic and brutal style, destroy and separate itself from its genre.
In this film, the director, John Swab knows how to impose his own style.

Paramount Movies has unveiled an official trailer for an action crime thriller titled Little Dixie, another of these useless direct-to-video action / crime films they're churning out way too often these days. Ex-Special Forces Operative Doc facilitates a fragile truce between the Governor and Cartel, trading prosecutorial leniency for finance. With no more truce, Doc is left to fend for himself and protect the one untainted thing in his life: his daughter, Little Dixie. So uh, does that sound interesting to anyone? The film stars Frank Grillo, Eric Dane, Beau Knapp, Annabeth Gish, Peter Greene, Thomas Dekker, Mercedes Mason, and Maurice Compte. Yeah this definitely looks as forgettable as it sounds. As much as I used to enjoy Frank Grillo, he is now doing way too many of these boring action flicks and always playing the same character over and over.

Sam Waterston as Jack McCoy on Law & Order. Pic credit: NBC
The Law & Order crossover event was as epic as fans had hoped for.
What began as a simple murder case soon had all three squads joining together to stop a possible bombing attack and uncover a conspiracy.
This had additions of a new cop for Law & Order as well as a dramatic turn for an Svu detective that could pave the way for a tough exit.
It was also terrific just seeing all three shows working together for one storyline with some intriguing team-ups.
While the ending was a bit bittersweet, it did remind fans of how much the cops and prosecutors care for the victims to see justice done.
In the course of three hours, Gimmie Shelter was a true event that made Law & Order’s season premieres an exciting ride.
