Penelope Jean Hayes (born Penelope Jean Bachmeier) is author of the book and advice column of the same name, "The Magic Of Viral Energy: Spirituality Meets Quantum Theory." The term "Viral Energy" was coined by Hayes to describe her experiences of the phenomenon of contagious energy through social interaction and the environment. She began studying and writing about Viral Energy in 2002; her book manuscript was penned in 2017.

In October of 2017, Hayes signed with famed literary agent, Bill Gladstone of Waterside Productions Inc. Gladstone also represents bestselling authors Eckhart Tolle and Neale Donald Walsch. As an expert in media, popular culture and societal pressures, Hayes has appeared on The Dr. Phil Show. She has extensive on-air television and radio experience, plus a background as a celebrity publicist. As a noted publicist, she has represented television personalities from ABC's The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Dancing With The Stars and more. Hayes appears in the Top 25 on Ranker's worldwide list of "Famous People Names Penelope."

From 2010-2015 she was the Resident Popular Culture Analyst at an ABC News affiliate (WCIV-TV) and the face and voice of the 5-year running live TV segment called Pop News With Penelope. From 2015-2018, Hayes was a contributing writer for The Huffington Post. Hayes has written a number of cover stories for U.S. regional magazines, and secured coverage in national publications including Newsday, Entertainment Weekly, TV Guide, and People to name a few, and media interviews with television shows such as Good Morning America, E! News, Extra TV, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, ABC News 20/20, and more. Media outlets have quoted her as a popular culture expert including People Magazine, Men's Health Magazine, USA Today, Los Angeles Times and more. As a journalist, her written works have been published in national news and entertainment magazines, and niche industry publications. She has also written media releases on behalf of clients for the United States Surgeon General, Hawaii State Department of Health, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Medal of Honor, and the New Jersey Nets and New Orleans Pelicans basketball organizations.

Hayes has interviewed numerous experts and celebrities on her topics of exploration including: quantum physics; our image obsessed society; the pressures to be perfect; beauty from the inside out; what it means to be truly happy; 'cinderellosis' and 'celebritism'; contagious energy in social interaction; and the pursuit of joy and purpose.

Hayes is involved in animal welfare issues. She advocates for compassion toward animals, veganism, and opposes factory farming. She researches and writes about the root of animal abuse and the Energy-Thirsty Cycle of Abuse (ETCA), saying, "the abuser has not learned a better way to gain good energy. For them, accessing low viral energy is learned and habitual. Extreme cases manifest in animal abuse, then child and spousal abuse. It's always an exertion of power over the less powerful in an attempt to steal energy from another," adding, "To put an end to abuse and negativity, we need to find another way to get fueled."

She became a vegetarian in 1992, and vegan in 2017. In 2006, Hayes served on a task force that brought famous primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace, Dr. Jane Goodall, to Windsor, Ontario for a three-day event. Hayes writes of the honor of "spending a few days alongside the very humble and deeply inspiring Dr. Jane Goodall." Hayes has assisted with advisory and publicity efforts for Eugene Cussons, Host of Animal Planet's "Escape To Chimp Eden." Known as "Chimp Eden," the animal sanctuary is The Jane Goodall Institute South Africa. Since 2012, the pair have collaborated on a number of ideas to further the cause of public education and compassion towards animals including via pitches for future television series concepts.

In 2014, Hayes interviewed Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary, a farm animal protection organization dedicated to ending the factory farming of animals. In 2017, she began working with Reebok sponsored plant-based super athlete, Mandy Gill, to create speaking engagements on empowerment, happiness, and compassionate eating and living.

In 2018, Hayes began working on her second book, ALL IS ENERGY IN LOVE AND WAR, which explains "viral energy masses" or energetic tumors in our society created by the actions and intentions of communities, industries, cultural beliefs, fields of nature, and through massive pockets of love, hate, war, abuse, indifference, and compassion. This book sets forth a clear vision of where humanity's spiritual evolution is going and how we can evolve. While Book One, The Magic Of Viral Energy, deals with how you can utilize the knowledge of viral energy for a life of purpose and happiness, Book Two, opens up broader issues facing humanity that directly affect you and where we are heading as a species.
