Winning not one but two "Best Director 2016" awards for his feature debut Shortwave, Phillips has traveled the film festival circuit, taking home over twenty three "Official Selections", and 18 wins including "Jury Prize," "Best Feature," "Best Actress," "Best Screenplay," "Best Editing," and three "Best Cinematography" awards. He was nominated for "Best new wave artist award" at the biggest genre festival in the world, the 2016 Sitges Film Festival.

The film received a standing ovation at both Sitges & Raindance and a four-star critical acclaim from the UK film review from both sold-out screenings at the festivals, while LA Weekly named it one of the "Top 5 must see" films during its premiere at the 19th annual "Dances With Films" film festival. The movie was picked up for distribution by Sony Pictures & Vega Baby Releasing in 2017.

Phillips has recently partnered with Stephen Susco writer of "The Grudge," "The Grudge 2," "Texas Chainsaw 3D," and "Red" for his next feature film, "Copperhead Road," which was picked as a top 10 script at the 2017 Beverly Hills Screenplay Competition

Phillips studied directing at Long Island University's Film program, He then went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Media Arts from The University Of South Carolina.

Ryan has an additional 15 national and international awards for short format films, which have led to other music video and feature film productions. Phillips' work within The Paradise Collective includes the latest music video for Neon Hitch, Sparks, which has been featured on the front page of VEVO, as well as MTV. His music video for Eriel Indigo's Innocence premiered on REVOLT TV. He directed a commercial spot for Kahlua, featuring Jeff Bridges while filming the new skateboarding documentary for VICE sports. Phillips is also involved in multiple TV series and online publications which he is actively directing as well as acting post supervisor on. In 2014 he directed a 10 episode TV show "Hometown Tough" following the lives of MMA fighters for 6 months. Phillips' ten years in the industry has honed his talent for directing and writing, giving him the bandwidth to be able to direct anything from commercial and tv to music videos and feature films.
