During the New York City stop on his world tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album, 50 Cent surprised the audience with guests including A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Moneybagg Yo, Jadakiss and J. Cole, the latter who called 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ “the best album of all time.”
Cole performed “No Role Modelz” at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Wednesday alongside 50 Cent as fans cheered loudly. He was the last surprise performer and spoke highly of 50 Cent and his first album after the performance.
“Can I say this before I walk off this stage? If y’all don’t make some noise for one of the greatest n***as to ever do this shit — 50 motherfucking Cent, Curtis Jackson,” Cole said.
“Get Rich or Die Tryin’ is the best album of all-time. … It’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ at No. 1 and it’s Thriller at No.

Jay Rock has dropped a fast-paced new single, “Too Fast (Pull Over),” which features Anderson .Paak and Latto. The trio released the Mustard-produced song along with a music video that sees the rappers enjoying a raucous pool party.
On the track, Rock raps, “Send a stepper up the stairway to heaven, I’m a vet/ Put up a pole dancer in a Mercedes.” In the video, he mirrors the lyrics by showing up to the party in a red Mercedes SUV equipped with a stripper pole (and a stripper) on the roof.

One of the most acclaimed albums of the 2010s, Frank Ocean’s “Channel Orange” was innovative and fresh, but still classic-sounding, and it earned a whopping 92 score on Metacritic. The album was also a commercial success, debuting at number-two on the Billboard 200. So it’s not surprising that “Channel Orange” was a big Grammy player, receiving major nominations like Album of the Year and Record of the Year (for “Thinkin Bout You”).
Ocean’s biggest Grammy achievement may have been winning the first Best Urban Contemporary Album award, now renamed Best Progressive R&b Album. Albeit controversial, the category has given us some amazing winners like Beyoncé’s “Lemonade” and, most recently, Steve Lacy’s “Gemini Rights.” And when you look at Ocean’s history, the year he competed, and the state of R&b in the early 2010s, it makes total sense how “Channel Orange” truly was the perfect inaugural winner.

When Chance the Rapper visited West Africa earlier this year, he initially thought his trip with fellow Chicago hip-hop artist Vic Mensa would be just another vacation getaway.
Instead, the Grammy winner connected with Mensa’s father’s family in Ghana and other natives from the Motherland on a deeper level. He saw Ghana’s beautiful ocean coastline and waterfalls, engulfed himself in the musical culture and art scene and learned more about the country’s rich history of being the first sub-Saharan African country to free itself from colonialism.

50 Cent's evolution from hip-hop icon to TV mastermind might still be a shock to some people, but the transformation has been amazing to witness. “Power Book IV: Force,” the Starz franchise’s third spinoff led by Joseph Sikora, has just lost its showrunner as well as executive producer and creator, Robert Munic. Sikora returns to the “Power” universe to reprise the iconic and beloved role of the tritagonist-turned-antagonist. In “Power Book IV: Force,” the fan-favorite character will be the primary focus as he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good.
Per sources that spoke with Deadline, Munic exited the show over “creative differences,” but the departure was amicable and is not expected to impact production.
Along with Sikora, Kris D. Lofton (“Ballers”) and Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, rapper, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jeremih, “Power Book IV” will also star as Elijah and Jenard Sampson, respectively. Other castings previously announced in February include Isaac Keys (“Get Shorty”), Lili Simmons (“Ray Donovan”), Gabrielle Ryan (“The Have and Have Nots”), Shane Harper Anthony Fleming...

The world of Dionne Warwick’s Twitter account can be a confusing place, a place where Billie Eilish becomes William Eyelash, and where Chance the Rapper can find out, without being entirely sure, that he’s working on a song with the legendary 80-year-old singer.
After engaging with Warwick on Twitter, Chance told Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show” Monday night that it appears the two will be collaborating on a song.
The entire exchange began when Warwick randomly asked Chance on Twitter why he uses “the Rapper” in his stage name when he’s obviously a rapper, adding rather perplexingly, “I cannot stop thinking about this.”
Chance expressed surprise that Warwick even knew who he was, but “apparently” the exchange has led to the two working together.

During an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Monday, Chance the Rapper said his delightfully peculiar Twitter interaction with Dionne Warwick has led to a musical collaboration.
The exchange occurred earlier this month when, out of the blue, Warwick tweeted at Chance, wondering why he’d put “the Rapper” in his stage name if he’s obviously a rapper, adding, “I cannot stop thinking about this.” Chance said he and the singer had never met, and he was surprised she even knew who he was, but already the...
