Saban Films announced today the acquisition of worldwide rights to the upcoming comedy The 4:30 Movie, directed and written by Kevin Smith.
Set in the summer of 1986, The 4:30 Movie is a coming-of-age story about three sixteen-year-old friends who spend their Saturdays sneaking into movies at the local multiplex. But when one of the guys also invites the girl of his dreams (Siena Agudong) to see the latest comedy, each of the teens will learn something serious about life and love before the credits roll.
Set in the mobile phoneless, social media-free era of the ’80s, Smith shot The 4:30 Movie at his Smodcastle Cinemas in New Jersey—the same movie theater he haunted every weekend as a teenager. Two years ago, Smith and his co-owners saved the century-old Atlantic Highlands bijou from demolition, renaming it after his podcast theater.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck doubled down on their marriage vows with a decidedly more elaborate affair in Riceboro, Ga (a small town just outside of Savannah), on Saturday, Aug. 20. The couple - who were officially married at a Las Vegas wedding chapel on July 17 - celebrated their love with their friends and families in Georgia.
The couple's second ceremony was a star-studded event. Affleck's longtime friend Matt Damon was in attendance alongside his wife, Luciana Barroso. Other guests included director Kevin Smith and his wife, Jennifer; "Clerks" star Jason Mewes and his wife, Jordan Monsanto; and model Pia Miller and her husband, Patrick Whitesell. Meanwhile, photos indicate the wedding party included Lopez's children with Marc Anthony, 14-year-old twins Max and Emme, as well as Affleck's children with ex Jennifer Garner: Violet (16), Seraphina (13), and Samuel (10).

Kevin Smith says he started thinking about another Clerks film after finishing the 2006 sequel. While he ultimately accomplished the task — Clerks III hits theaters courtesy of Lionsgate in partnership with Fathom Events on Sept. 13-18 — the beloved filmmaker is relieved that it’s not based on his original script.
“It opened on the evening of Hurricane Sandy,” Smith detailed to The Hollywood Reporter ahead of Wednesday night’s premiere at Tcl Chinese 6 Theaters in Hollywood. “Dante and Randal were locked in a jail because the original version of Clerks III was the opening of Jay and Silent Bob Reboot where the cops come in and bust Jay and Silent Bob. All of them were arrested and there’s an interrogation scene and somebody comes in and says, ‘We gotta get ‘em out and put them in cells because it’s coming.’ And [the guys] are like,...

Snoochie boochies, take two! Actor Jason Mewes and director Kevin Smith, best known as the duo Jay and Silent Bob from the latter's '90s and '00s comedy films, reunited at their friend and co-star Ben Affleck's second wedding to Jennifer Lopez. The ceremony took place in Georgia on Aug. 20, more than a month after the pair legally wed in Las Vegas. Mewes and Smith—who has said he is the creator of the couple's nickname "Bennifer"—were joined by their wives, Jordan Monsanto and Jennifer Schwalbach Smith. Like the rest of the wedding guests, they all wore white. Monsanto even captioned a selfie of herself and Jason on her Instagram Story,...

Ben Affleck’s actor brother Casey, who played Matthew McConaughey’s son in ‘Interstellar’, missed his brother’s big wedding celebration weekend in Georgia, reports People magazine.
Casey couldn’t attend the ceremony “unfortunately because of family, parental obligations at home”, a source told People. Casey, 47, was previously spotted stepping out with girlfriend Caylee Cowan after a visit to Affleck family favourite doughnut outlet in Los Angeles.
According to People, the younger Affleck was photographed again Saturday in Los Angeles. He shares sons Indiana, 18, and 14-year-old Atticus with ex-wife Summer Phoenix.
People adds that Saturday’s ceremony (Pacific Standard Time) was still full of love with such stars in attendance as Ben’s pal Matt Damon and wife Luciana Barroso, Clerks auteur Kevin Smith and wife Jennifer, as well as Clerks star Jason Mewes and wife Jordan Monsanto.

Nearly 30 years after its cinematic debut, I assure you, the Quick Stop is open once again thanks to "Clerks III." After trying to manifest this project in a number of different ways since the release of the second film in 2006, fan-favorite filmmaker Kevin Smith is finally presenting the third chapter in Dante Hicks and Randal Graves' story in a theater near you. And interestingly enough, this movie brings the New Jersey native all the way back to his first chapter as the characters that kickstarted his career back in the early '90s are now making their own movie about working in a convenience store.

A massive heart attack has Randal deciding to make a movie about his life working at the Quick Stop convenience store, as fans got a sneak peek when the official trailer for Kevin Smith’s Clerks 3 dropped Wednesday.
As Lionsgate and Fathom Events get set to bring the sequel to theaters for two nights only, on Sept. 13 and 15, the trailer sees Randal, played by Jeff Anderson, tap fellow clerks Dante, Elias, Jay and Silent Bob, played by Smith, to make a movie immortalizing his life at the convenience store that started it all.
In February 2018, Smith tweeted a selfie from a hospital bed after telling his fans that he had survived a “massive” heart attack. The Clerks director added: “If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!

The slacker heroes of Kevin Smith’s seminal comedy “Clerks” are reuniting once more for “Clerks III” – and this time, they’re growing up and not sitting around waiting for something to happen. That’s right: Instead of just watching movies, they’re going to make their own.
That’s the very “meta” premise of Smith’s “Clerks III,” which Smith first told TheWrap years ago was inspired by his heart attack. It now sees Randal (Jeff Anderson) suffer his own heart attack, which galvanizes him to enlist Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and his other buddies to make a movie about what it’s like working in a convenience store and hanging out with guys like Jay and Silent Bob who forever loiter outside.
“Jay and Silent Bob are like C3PO and R2D2. They’ve been here since the first movie, which is the last time they were cool.

The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

Kevin Smith has been talking up a “Clerk III” for nearly a decade. Finally, a sequel to his 1994 indie-defining cult classic and the 2006 (far less indie-defining) “Clerks II” is becoming a reality. Lionsgate has acquired worldwide rights to Smith’s third outing in the series, which is now in pre-production in New Jersey and is set to start shooting next month on location.
Smith wrote the screenplay and will direct the film, with all major actors reprising their original roles, including Jeff Anderson as Randal, Brian O’Halloran as Dante, Jay Mewes as Jay, Smith as Silent Bob, and Rosario Dawson as Becky. The film is set to be produced by Liz Destro and Jordan Monsanto.

Kevin Smith has shared a new poster for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and as you can see, it’s done in the same style as the character posters that were released for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame. It’s not surprising that Smith would play around with the film’s marketing like this because he is a big fan of Marvel.
The poster features Jay (Jason Mewes) and Bob (Smith) looking like they’re ready to save the world with their stern expressions. But, in all reality, they are just trying to stop Hollywood from making a movie about the Bluntman and Chronic characters they inspired.
In One Month! Come see the @fathomevents screening of #JayAndSilentBobReboot on October 15th at a theater near you and get this cock-knockin’ poster Free (while supplies last)! And the show on Oct 17th is a double feature with “J&sb Strike Back”! Tix here: https://t.

Kevin Smith has released the first trailer for his upcoming film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and if you’re a fan of Smith’s work, you’re probably going to love it! It looks like a lot of vulgar and silly fun with Smith poking a lot of fun at today’s pop culture! You’ll also get your first look at some cool cameos which include Matt Damon and even Ben Affleck, with whom Smith had a falling out years ago. Well, it looks like they patched things up and are willing to work together again!
This trailer is definitely Nsfw, as it’s filled with all kind of crazy red-band goodies! Smith also makes some jokes at his own expense. It’s also revealed that Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist is the new rebooted version of Chronic in the film.

Melissa Benoist, the star of “Supergirl,” has joined the cast of Kevin Smith’s “Jay and Silent Bob Reboot,” Smith announced on Instagram on Thursday.
The film is a satire about Jay and Silent Bob racing to Hollywood to prevent a reboot of their comic book superhero movie “Bluntman and Chronic” from being made, and in the rebooted version, Benoist will play the actress set to take the role of a now female Chronic.
“And we gave her some pants *before* the good folks at @supergirlcw!,” the director joked on Instagram, noting how Benoist’s hero wears a skirt on the CW show.

Director Kevin Smith has announced that Avengers: Endgame star Chris Hemsworth has joined Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. It’ll be just a cameo role, but it’s pretty fun to see that Smith managed to get Hemsworth on board! The filmmaker made the announcement in a fun and playful way on Instagram saying:

Director Kevin Smith has revealed that he has reunited with Rosario Dawson for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot. Just in case you don’t remember, Dawson played Becky in Clerks II.
Smith has a very high opinion of Dawson and in an Instagram post featuring a photo of them embracing, he says:
“There are very few people I love in this business as much as @rosariodawson! So when Ro-Dawg Rebooted with us, I was reminded how she can take boring old Kevin Smith lines and make magic! Getting the always-in-demand Dawson into @jayandsilentbob Reboot required Ro to go above and beyond and take a few flights to get #neworleans. It would’ve been more than understandable if she couldn’t make it. But my friend made moves and interrupted her busy life and work schedule to come play with us in the #viewaskewniverse once again. I can honestly say she made the movie better!

As you know, Captain Marvel’s Stan Lee cameo involved a great little shout-out to Kevin Smith and his Mallrats movie. Smith had quite an emotional response to the Easter egg and now he’s going to return the favor and give Captain Marvel a shout out in his upcoming film Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
Smith posted the following image on Twitter with Jason Lee holding a Captain Marvel comic and the caption reads, “Me and Mallrats got a shout-out in @captainmarvel, so me and Mallrats are shouting back in #JayAndSilentBobReboot!”

Kevin Smith has released a new video from the set of his new film, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, and in it he introduces us to the new young and diverse Girl Gang. This video pretty much focuses on these characters.
There was a Girl Gang in the first movie, but since this is a reboot, they brought in new cast members to play the characters and those cast members include Alice Wen (Mr. Student Body President), Aparna Brielle (A.P. Bio), Treshelle Edmond (Master of None), and his daughter, Harley Quinn Smith (Yoga Hosers).
It would make sense that Smith’s daughter is in the gang considering her mom was a member of original gang in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The original crew was played by Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, Shannon Elizabeth, Eliza Dushku, and Ali Larter. Smith explains:

Shannon Elizabeth… now there’s a name that I haven’t heard in a long time! I’m sure many of you remember the actress as Nadia from the American Pie franchise. But she also appeared in Kevin Smith’s Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back as Justice, so it makes sense that we’d see her show up in Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.
Smith made the announcement on social media and shared a photo of Elizabeth hanging with the director and Jason Mewes.

Kevin Smith has announced more cast for his Jay and Silent Bob Reboot film. He recently shared a new photo featuring Method Man and Redman hanging out with Jay (Jason Mewes) and Bob (Smith).
They already shot a big scene in the movie and in regards to that, Smith said, “moment we called ‘Action,’ the legends launched into the single best first take I ever shot in 25 years: they were pitch-perfect and hysterical (and a little touching)! It was so good, I could’ve cut their whole performance from that one take!”

It’s called Silent but Deadly for a reason. On February 25, veteran comic Kevin Smith took the stage at the Alex Theater in Glendale, CA, to perform the first of two planned stand-up shows. But right after the first show ended, he suffered a near-fatal heart attack.
Smith tweeted about it after the fact, writing: “After the first show this evening, I had a massive heart attack. The Doctor who saved my life told me I had 100% blockage of my Lad artery (aka “the Widow-Maker”). If I hadn’t canceled show 2 to go to the hospital, I would’ve died tonight. But for now, I’m still above ground!”
Now Showtime has set a premiere date of 9 Pm Friday, May 11, for the special that was shot that night.
In the set, Smith riffs on marriage, fatherhood, friends and his work (or lack thereof).

Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob helmer Kevin Smith has started filming with the Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida on his new horror project, Killroy Was Here.
The horror, which came to fruition from one of Smith’s weekly podcasts, is said to be the first offering in an anthology which has moral issues as its base. Smith went on to elaborate in the basis of the storyline.
“This is a monster movie in the sense of a classic morality tale,” Smith said. “No one wants to see you spill the blood of innocents, but when someone crosses the line and goes bad, you get to make them pay in horrible ways, and the audience cheers. We wanted to make an anthology film in the vein of ‘Creepshow.’ Killroy is like the Golem, the Boogeyman and the Grim Reaper combined.”

Having launched into a life of filmmaking with a seminal Sundance more than two decades back with Clerks (1994), while Park City is sacred grounds for Smith it’s not going to be an automatic invite for the filmmaker. Having visited the fest for Chasing Amy and more recently Red State (he also has producer creds for fest invited 2006’s small town gay bar and 2012’s Filly Brown). Production began all the way in August of 2014 on Yoga Hosers, so when it became a no-show at Tiff (where Tusk premiered) and where Johnny Depp’s Black Mass was in promo mode, the logical conclusion is this family affair might join Canuck film Turbo Kid in back-to-back Midnight section selections. While Tusk was a hard sell, this “sequel” could be a valuable acquisitions title for the predicted section if Depp’s Guy Lapointe character is afforded more time. Could this be a...
