Kae Alexander (Min) tells us about her journey from Game of Thrones to The Wheel of Time
Image
The Wheel of Time has reached the end of its third season, and nothing will ever be the same. At a whopping 68 minutes long, "He Who Comes With The Dawn" was a mega-sized episode that featured major developments for nearly every member of the show's main cast. From Rand claiming his place as the Car'a'carn to Siuan Sanche being deposed in the White Tower, there's been a lot to pore over.

Then there was Tanchico, where Min Farshaw, Mat Cauthon, Nynave al'Meara, Elayne Trakand and Thom Merrilin sought to foil the plans of the Black Ajah. They split into groups to search the Panarch's Palace, and each of those groups has a moment which could have served as the climax in any other episode. For Min and Mat, things got deadly fast, as Mat stumbled through a portal into the world of the Eelfinn, leading to the fulfillment of a...

Who are the Eelfinn and Aelfinn in The Wheel of Time?
Image
The article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 8.

The season 3 finale of The Wheel of Time has arrived, and it's absolutely packed with important developments and iconic scenes. That includes the introduction of the Eelfinn, an otherworldly species of people who live in a pocket dimension which can be accessed by walking through a twisted redstone doorframe ter'angreal. Yes, this is The Wheel of Time, and you'd best get comfortable with some crazy magical explanations for things!

In "He Who Comes With The Dawn," Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn) comes face-to-face with one of the Eelfinn, played by Robert Strange. The Eelfinn is a looming figure with the aspect of a fox who speaks in the Old Tongue and makes a dangerous bargain with Mat, granting him three requests. Mat shouts that he wants to stop being pushed around by every magical force in the world, and the...

The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 8 recap and review: "He Who Comes With The Dawn"
Image
It's been a winding road, but we've arrived at the season finale for The Wheel of Time. Across its third season, Prime Video's epic fantasy show has captured our hearts and blown our minds with its drama, action, ambition, romance and scope. We began in the city of Tar Valon, where the Black Ajah made a bloody escape and our young heroes from Emond's Field went their separate ways. From there we went to the deserts of the Aiel Waste, the forests of the Two Rivers, and the hills of Tanchico. It's been quite a ride, and it's all led to this.

"He Who Comes With The Dawn" is a powerful finale, but it's also the episode I've been anticipating will most divide fans, especially those who have read Robert Jordan's books. Because while this is a rock solid hour of television, it makes bold choices.

Image
The Wheel of Time season 3 is almost over on Prime Video! There is only one episode remaining this season, and everyone wants to know when exactly the finale will be released. Well, we have some good news, but it really depends on where you live.

The Wheel of Time season 3, episode 8, will be released at 12:00 a.m. Pt / 3:00 a.m. Et on Thursday, April 17.

Unfortunately, that's not a great time for those on the East Coast who want to stay up late to watch the season finale. On the other hand, if you live on the West Coast, you only have to stay up until about 2 a.m. Pt to watch the season 3 finale.

Right now, we don't know the episode title. We don't have the synopsis for the new episode, but we do have something better: a look at the new episode.

The Wheel of Time star breaks down that chilling Moghedien scene in Episode 306 (Exclusive)
Image
This article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 6, "The Shadow in the Night."

The Wheel of Time is deep into its third season, and despite our heroes' best efforts to take a breather this week, the villains had other ideas. Nowhere was that clearer than in Tanchico, where Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins), Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney), Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn) and Min Farshaw (Kae Alexander) are on the hunt for the Black Ajah. Despite having some success in their search, like digging up a dangerous artifact known as the Domination Band and ferreting out the location of the Black Ajah's hideout, they soon fell afoul of an even more dangerous villain: Moghedien, the sadistic Forsaken sorceress played by Laia Costa.

Moghedien was first introduced at the end of the show's second season, and the anticipation has been high to see her in action. The book on which this season is largely based,...

The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 6 review: "The Shadow in the Night"
Image
The sixth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3 is out now on Prime Video, and if you thought it was going to let up, you were mistaken. "The Shadow in the Night" may give some characters a chance to let loose and enjoy themselves, but by its bombshell ending things are right back to dead serious as multiple members of the Forsaken make their moves. It's trauma as well as good times on The Wheel of Time this week!

We've got a lot to talk about, so pull up "The Hills of Tanchico" on Spotify and let's get into it. Full Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 6 beyond this point.

Who are the Sea Folk in The Wheel of Time?
Image
Set sail, fellow Wheel of Time fans! The fifth episode of season 3 is out, and it broadens the scope of the show drastically with new locations, new factions and more. Tanchico! Cold Rocks Hold! The Dream World! The Sea Folk! "Tel'aran'rhiod" has a lot going on, and for fans who've been waiting to see some of these things on screen for a long time, it's a treat.

Today we're going to home in on the Sea Folk. During the new episode, we catch up with Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), Elayne (Ceara Coveney), Mat (Dónal Finn), and Min (Kae Alexander), who are all aboard a Sea Folk ship on its way to Tanchico. The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 5 review: "Tel'aran'rhiod"
Image
The Wheel of Time is back with the fifth episode of its third season, and it's a major step forward in broadening the scope of this expansive fantasy series. Last week the show tightened focus to cover Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) and Moiraine Damodred's (Rosamund Pike) journey into the sacred Aiel city of Rhuidean. It stands as the highest-rated episode of the series to date on IMDb with a 9.5/10, and deserves every bit of praise it's getting.

But "The Road to the Spear" was only the halfway point in the season. In this week's episode, "Tel'aran'rhiod," we catch up with many of the characters who didn't get screentime during Rand's millennia-spanning vision quest. From the White Tower to a new Aiel settlement, Tanchico and the high seas, and even the dream world of Tel'aran'rhiod, The Wheel of Time is reminding us that it is a globe-trotting fantasy series that can fill viewers with wonder.

Is The Wheel of Time really going there with this romance?
Image
This week, the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, entitled "The Road to the Spear," aired to critical acclaim; as of this writing, it has a score of 9.6/10 on IMDb, easily the highest of any episode thus far. It featured sequence beloved by fans of The Wheel of Time book: the Trials of Rhuidean, where Rand, Moiraine, and Aviendha enter the sacred Aiel city and experience visions. Rand sees visions of the past while Moiraine and Aviendha peer into various futures which may or may not come to pass. These sequences were stunning, and along with the three episodes released last week, continue the trend of this season being easily the best yet. The show has really come into its own as one of TV’s premiere fantasy series.

While Rand is force to experience generations worth of collective trauma, Moiraine sees futures where she either dies over and over again,...

3 things in The Wheel of Time season 3 that are working well (and 2 that aren't)
Image
The third season of The Wheel of Time is off to a fantastic start on Prime Video. The streaming service released three episodes last week, and they didn’t disappoint.

Although the show is scrambling the events from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series a bit, these episodes did a good job of making that change relatively seamless without losing any momentum built up during the action-packed finale to season 2.

Without focusing too much on the differences between the books and the show, audiences can appreciate the visual smorgasbord the show delivers with aplomb. So far, The Wheel of Time is a prime example of how a quality fantasy story can be told on the small screen.

The Wheel of Time season 3 episode 3, “Seeds of Shadow,” is the best episode of the season to date, and it begins with some major reveals and incredible scheming on the part of Lanfear, Sammael, and Rahvin, who is playing his part quite well.

Let’s talk about what happened in the third episode of season 3!

Lord Gaebril is actually Rahvin, one of the Forsaken

“Seeds of Shadow” begins with Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe), Sammael, and Lord Gaebril (Nuno Lopes) meeting to discuss an alliance to help the Dark One’s mission after the death of Ishamael in the season 2 finale. Coming ahead of the show's return, Cbr can unveil a sneak peek clip from one of the new episodes. The Wheel of Time producers explain why they're cutting a huge bit from the books (for now)
Image
The third season of The Wheel of Time will air soon on Prime Video. So far, it's looking terrific. Trailer? Epic. First 11 minutes? Fire. Source material? Best in show. The runway is set for this epic fantasy series to take off.

There are 14 books in The Wheel of Time book series, and the TV show has had to make some cuts as the story transitions from page to screen. In general, I think showrunner Rafe Judkins has made smart choices when it comes to picking what to cut and streamline; he's clearly a fan who's keeping the long game in mind.

For instance, at this point in the book series, lead character Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) should make his way towards a fortress called the Stone of Tear, where he lays claim to a legendary sword called Callandor. That happens at the end of the third book in the series,...

The Wheel of Time's Marcus Rutherford and Dónal Finn promise "pivotal" book moments in season 3
Image
The Wheel of Time season 3 is just around the corner, and the hype is off the charts. Season 3 is based on The Shadow Rising, widely considered one of the best novels in Robert Jordan's iconic fantasy book series. Some pretty big events happen in this part of the story, and The Wheel of Time TV show is signaling to fans that it's rising to the occasion with an extensive marketing campaign, cast interviews, trailers, and a thrilling sneak peak at the blood-drenched opening minutes of season 3.

We recently participated in a press junket with several members of the cast, and they did a pretty great job of getting us excited for what lies ahead. Rosamund Pike (Moiraine) and Josha Stradowski (Rand) talked up the "psychedelic" fourth episode of the season, which will take viewers to the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean. Daniel Henney (Lan) and Sophie Okonedo (Siuan Sanche...

Why Game of Thrones Recast Myrcella Baratheon
Image
Quick LinksWho Was Myrcella Baratheon in Game of Thrones? Why Did Nell Tiger Free Replace Aimee Richardson as Myrcella?Who Played Myrcella Baratheon Better?

One of the best things that has made Game of Thrones such an ongoing phenomenon, even almost six years after its finale, was its iconic cast of characters. The biggest thing that has made those characters so memorable wasn't just due to the writing, but the casting. It's hard to imagine anyone other than Sophie Turner as Sansa Stark or Kit Harrington as Jon Snow. Throughout the series, however, there were quite a few supporting characters that did end up being recast for one reason or another, whether it was personal, creative, or both. Given the length of time between their appearances, not all of these recasts were noticed by the fans, and some of them were even considered to be improvements over the ones who played the characters originally.

The Wheel of Time's Rand & Lanfear Romantic Theories Eagerly Addressed By Season 2 Star
Image
Warning: Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 2.

The Wheel of Time season 2 takes creative liberties by adapting the fantasy saga and making changes to better suit the TV medium. Lanfear, one of the strongest Forsaken, begins season 2 in an unexpected relationship with Rand al'Thor, sparking hope among viewers. Certain characters are folded together, others are omitted entirely, and others are given new depth, especially compared to their journeys in Jordan’s corresponding books (The Wheel of Time season 2 adapted the second and third novels in Jordan’s saga). One such character is Lanfear,...
