Evelyn Chew was born to Chinese Malaysian parents in Scarborough, Ontario. She is a graduate of both Douglas College and Studio 58 Acting Programs in Vancouver, Canada. Since graduating, she's appeared on stage and screen with recent appearances on Hulu's The Mysterious Benedict Society (2021), Freeform's Motherland: Fort Salem (2020) and Leo Awards Winner for Best Web Series NarcoLeap (2018).
As a performer, she's been described as intelligent, convincing, fearless, fiercely honest and hilarious. Her performance in the stage production of "She Has A Name", a play about human trafficking, garnered her critical acclaim. In "Canada, It's Complicated" director and comedy icon, Mary Walsh, presented Evelyn as one of the country's up-and-coming performers.
Evelyn is an educator and mentor who helps develop new material and talent for stage and screen. Her work has been supported by UBCP/ACTRA. She continues to deepen her craft with experimental theatre and her collaborators.
