Caitlin Clark, who helped grow the popularity of women’s basketball with her record-breaking college career at the University of Iowa, was the most no-brainer pick of the WNBA Draft on Monday, going No. 1 to the Indiana Fever.
The league will waste no time putting Clark front and center: The regular season begins May 14 with a doubleheader on ESPN2 leading off with Indiana against Connecticut, the first of a full slate of Fever games slated for national broadcasts.
Clark led Iowa to back-to-back NCAA women’s national championship games, most recently earlier this month when the Hawkeyes lost to undefeated South Carolina in the title game, a matchup that drew more viewers than the men’s finale for the first time ever and drew 18.7 million viewers.

Collegiate women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment with Colin Jost and Michael Che.
Before Clark came on set, Che joked: “The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron.”
Clark, who plays for the Iowa Hawkeyes, is regarded as one of the greatest college basketball players ever. While waiting to hear her name called for the WNBA draft, Clark performed a skit in which she called out Che for mocking women’s sports and the WNBA.
She then revealed that she “wrote some jokes” for Che to hear and had him read them out loud.
Clark responded, “You make a lot of jokes about women’s sports, don’t you, Michael?”
Che then read Clark’s jokes, starting with, “The Indiana Fever has the first pick in this Monday’s draft.

This weekend, Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che weighed in on Donald Trump’s abortion ban comments.
On Monday, Trump asserted that “he supports abortion laws being decided by the states instead of the federal government,” according to Che.
Che then went on a tangent, saying, “But why stop there? Why not go even smaller and leave it up to the counties or the city?”
“Or even better, take the government out of it completely and leave the choice about what women can do with their bodies and a person who knows what they could do with them the best — their husbands,” he added for comedic relief.
Jost added, “In a view on Truth Social, Donald Trump falsely said that Democrats support abortion up to the ninth month and beyond, saying the baby is executed at birth.”
“But he only thinks that happens because when Trump was a baby,...

It's been nine months since both "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" released in theaters, but poor Ryan Gosling still struggles to let the event go. So he decided to bring out the ol' piano for his "Saturday Night Live" monologue and sing an ode to Ken, paying tribute to that neon rollerblading outfit and ridiculous fur coat. The song was sung to the tune of Taylor Swift's "All Too Well," which Swift famously sung in its 10-minute entirety on "SNL" back in 2021. The relevance of "All Too Well" to the bit doesn't stop there: it's also the song Gosling's character cries to in the trailer for his new movie, "The Fall Guy," a movie that's basically Gosling's entire reason for hosting this time around.
Showing up mid-musical number was "The Fall Guy" co-star Emily Blunt, urging Gosling to let "Barbie" go and focus on their new project together. But much like Gosling can't let Ken go,...

After making a joke about Iowa Hawkeyes player Caitlin Clark retiring her jersey for an apron, Michael Che was roasted on the “Weekend Update” segment of “SNL” this week by none other than Clark.
Che opened the bit by saying, “University of Iowa announced that Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired.” With a smirk and a laugh, he added, “And replaced with an apron.” The crowd didn’t love the joke, and Che playfully said, “Whoa! Well, the WNBA draft is this Monday, and Iowa star Caitlin Clark is expected to be the number one pick. Here to comment is Caitlin Clark.”
To thunderous applause and cheers, Clark appeared at the Weekend Update desk smiling. She and Che sat waiting for the wild clapping to die down before she began roasting Che for his joke about her. “I am a fan, Caitlin, by the way,” Che said.

Michael Che was humbled by basketball star Caitlin Clark when she crashed Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update” segment after the comedian made a sexist joke at her expense.
“The University of Iowa announced that basketball star Caitlin Clark will have her jersey retired and replaced with an apron,” Che said.
Che then introduced the real Clark ahead of the WNBA draft, where she is expected to be the No. 1 pick overall.
“I am a fan, Caitlin, by the way,” Che told the future WNBA star.
“Really, Michael? Because I heard that little apron joke you did,” Clark clapped back.
Clark called out Che for making a lot of jokes about women’s sports, which the comedian tried to deny. Colin Jost chimed in to say, “It’s definitely a lot,” and exposed Che with a super-cut of his past jokes.
“Unlike Che, I support women,” Jost said, throwing his co-host under the bus.

CBS’ Fire Country this Friday introduced us to Mickey Fox, a sergeant with the Edgewater County sheriff’s department.
Played by Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Homeland), Mickey made her grand entrance at the top of the episode via bit of a helicopter chase, between her/her pilot and a drug runner. The suspect lobbed his duffel bag of cash out the ‘copter door, veritably raining bills down on the Three Rock inmates below. The ill-gotten cash was promptly rounded up, though, with (almost) all of it accounted for.

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update addressed Friday’s 4.8 magnitude earthquake that was centered in New Jersey but was felt hundreds of miles away, as well as Donald Trump’s latest unsubstantiated allegation about President Joe Biden.
Colin Jost began: “Well yesterday, everyone in New York pretended they felt an earthquake. Just admit it, you thought it was wind.”

“Saturday Night Live Weekend Update” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che minced no words on Saturday night while commenting on Ye (aka Kanye West) and Diddy’s respective recent headlines.
Referring to a recently filed lawsuit by former Ye employee Trevor Phillips — who accused the musician of anti-Black racism, homophobic and antisemitic outbursts in a lawsuit filed on Tuesday — Che noted, “In a lawsuit against Ye, a former employee claims that Ye compared himself to Hitler, minus the gas chambers.”
Che then quipped, “I, for one, am shocked to hear that Ye believes in the Holocaust.”
Moving on to another embroiled hip-hop star, Colin Jost noted an embarassing moment in a “Live with Kelly & Mark” repeat that aired this past week referencing Diddy — taped long before the current investigation over the mogul’s alleged wrongdoings.

He continued, “This earthquake was the best possible disaster. It was kind of like the time I saw my dad in the shower. It was a little scary, there was no permanent damage, but I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

The “SNL” 5-Timers Club has been around since December 1990, when Tom Hanks joked in his monologue that a person’s fifth time hosting is when they receive a membership card into the club. Hanks then left the stage and joined Steve Martin, Elliott Gould and Paul Simon in an expensive-looking set with hors d’oeuvres, waiters and a doorman. The iconic club set would be seen multiple times on NBC’s late sketch comedy throughout the decades, often (but not always) when a new host is anointed as a five-timer. Members of the club are always seen wearing exclusive jackets embroidered with a “5” badge.
So who has hosted “Saturday Night Live” at least five times? Scroll through our “SNL” 5-Timers Club members list above, which includes (in alphabetical order by last name) some of the most recognizable people in the industry, including Tina Fey, Paul Rudd and Tom Hanks.

“Weekend Update” hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che had plenty of jokes on last night’s “Saturday Night Live,” but the highlight came when they dug into Donald Trump’s $60 “God Bless the USA” Bibles.
Jost joked that the special edition book, which has a cut of sales going to the former president’s reelection campaign, is a bit different than your typical Christian Standard version. Trump’s Bible ends with “Jesus’ disciples storming Jerusalem to overturn the results of the crucifixion,” he said.
“Donald Trump has partnered with country music star Lee Greenwood to sell a $60 special edition of the Bible that also includes the Constitution, the lyrics to Greenwood’s ‘God Bless the USA’ and I assume God’s letter of resignation,” Jost joked, introducing the segment.
“This Bible is mostly the same,” he went on, “but Trump’s version ends with Jesus’ disciples storming Jerusalem to overturn the results of the crucifixion.

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update took aim at Donald Trump’s bizarre moment at the southern border this week, as well as Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell announcing he’ll step down as his party’s Senate leader.

Michael Che and Colin Jost had a running gag on Saturday Night Live’s “Weekend Update,” cracking jokes about Mitch McConnell who announced earlier this week he was stepping down as Senate Republican leader.
Every time the photo of McConnell appeared on screen, the SNL duo made a joke about what had the senator so happy during that moment. Che started the gag, saying McConnell was “catching up on news from the Middle East.”
“McConnell has been leader for almost 20 years, but he first got involved in politics back in 1968 when he lost a fiddle contest to the devil,” Che quipped.
Jost continued the gag saying, “Mitch McConnell seen here walking out of a theater after watching 12 Years a Slave.”
“He’ll be replaced by the current number two Republican in the Senate, a frozen embryo holding an assault rifle,” Jost joked.

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update went after former President Donald Trump’s wild campaign rhetoric, as well as the Alabama Supreme Court ruling this week that frozen embryos created through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) are human beings.
Co-anchor Colin Jost began by quipping that, after Trump won the South Carolina primary earlier in the night, he “is now undefeated everywhere except court.”
Of the former president’s recent hyperbolic comments, Jost joked that they reminded him of somebody: the comic book supervillain Bane.
