ReviewThe problems in ‘Head Bush’ stem from Agni Sreedhar’s screenplay. Everything in the film, be it the characters, the physical setting or the atmosphere, feels detached and inauthentic.ShuklajiCourtesy: Screengrab | Anand AudioCall it the Kgf hangover or whatever, but Kannada cinema seems to be still reeling under the Rocky Bhai effect. In director Shoonya’s Head Bush, the narrative unfolds in the year 1974 through the spectrum of political and radical change as Prime Minister Indira Gandhi exhorts her ministers to curb feudalism in the country. Following this, we are led to the crummy streets of Bengaluru where the annual Karaga celebrations are on and a large crowd eagerly beckons the local macho man Jayaraj. SandalwoodThe team will go ahead with the second schedule after Ugadi and it is break time until then.Digital NativeDigital NativeDarshan’s 51st film, Yajamana is progressing at a brisk pace. The shooting for this film began on February 18 amidst much fanfare and was wrapped up on March 10. Important scenes were shot at the Shashidhar Adapa in Mysuru during the first schedule and the team including hero Darshan and director Pon Kumar are happy with the outcome. According to reports doing rounds in the Kannada film industry, Yajamana team will go ahead with the second schedule after Ugadi and it is break time until then. While Darshan plays the lead role in the film, it has Rashmika Mandanna playing the female lead along with Tanya Hope as the second heroine. Dhananjay, Thakur Anoop Singh and Devaraj will be seen playing significant roles in this flick. Bankrolled by Shylaja Nag and B Suresha, the former confirmed that the team finalized the title Yajamana after considering two other titles. She also made it clear that Darshan’s Yajamana has nothing to do with the Vishnuvardhan starrer Yajamana that was released 18 years ago. Yajamana is the title of the blockbuster hit movie that had the icon of Sandalwood, Dr Vishnuvardhan in the lead role. Vishnuvardhan’s Yajamana was the remake of the Tamil movie Vanathai Pola, which was directed by Vikraman and produced by V Ravichandran under his banner Aascar Films. On the characters in the film, the producer reportedly told that though it has two heroines – Rashmika Mandanna and Tanya Hope – it is not a triangular love story as speculated. Thakur Anoop Singh plays the baddie in Yajamana while Devaraj will be seen as Rashmika’s father. V Hari Krishna will not only be composing the tunes for the film but is also credited as its creative head for penning the story along with director Pon Kumaran. While Yajamana is under progress, Darshan is awaiting the release of his magnum opus Kurukshetra in which he plays Duryodhana and the story is told from his perspective. The film stars Darshan in the lead role with the star cast also including Ambareesh, V Ravichandran, Arjun Sarja, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, Sneha, Meghana Raj, P Ravi Shankar, Sonu Sood and Nikhil Gowda. TollywoodMahesh Babu is reportedly playing the Cm of undivided Andhra in this film.Tnm StaffThe teaser for Mahesh Babu's highly anticipated film Bharat Ane Nenu, in which the actor plays the Chief Minister, is out. Titled 'The Vision of Bharat', the teaser, which is just over a minute long, shows the swashbuckling Mahesh Babu take on the mantle of the state. The teaser begins with Bharat, the character he plays in the film, saying that as a child, his mother had told him that breaking one's promise wasn't worthy of a man. Bharat then goes on to say that he'd keep his word since he was indeed a man. "I've never gone wrong with this, nor have I ever forgotten it," he says. The "being a man" theme is not new to Telugu cinema which has unabashedly celebrated masculinity on screen. However, Mahesh Babu is not the kind of Cm we're used to seeing in real life politics, adding to the novelty in the film. The visuals show Mahesh Babu interacting with ordinary people and also his team. Interestingly, he does not change his garb even when taking oath as the Cm. Touted to be a political thriller, the film also stars Kiara Advani in a lead role. Directed by Koratala Siva who had worked with Mahesh Babu earlier in Srimanthudu, the film marks their second association after the mega-hit. Others in the star cast include Rama Prabha, R Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Devaraj and Sithara. Devi Sri Prasad is composing music for this venture with Ravi K Chandran and Tirru working the camera and A Sreekar Prasad editing it. Bharat Ane Nenu is bankrolled by Dvv Dhanayya under his banner Dvv Entertainments. There are huge expectations on the film as it has Mahesh Babu playing a politician for the first time in his career. The star will be appearing as the Chief Minister of undivided Andhra. Watch: (With inputs from Digital Native)...
