"All ya'll are suspects!!" Screen Media has unveiled an official trailer for Helen's Dead, a strange murder mystery whodunit comedy directed by the producer K. Asher Levin. This looks like something everyone will avoid before even looking at the footage. Red Box trash. Helen's Dead follows the story of Addie, played by Dylan Gelula. After a terrible breakup with her boyfriend, Addie goes to confront her friend about cheating allegations and accidentally steps into a murder scene. For some random reason, now it's up to Addie to find Helen's killer before it's too late. Too late for what? They'll kill again? Get away with it? Who knows. It also stars Emile Hirsch, Tyrese Gibson, Dylan Gelula, Oliver Cooper, Matilda Lutz (as dead Helen), & Annabelle Dexter-Jones. Reminds me of the series "The Afterparty", but with junk characters and no actual humor. // Continue Reading ›...

"We're not just stealing, we're sending a message." Saban Films has unveiled an official trailer for an indie crime action-thriller titled Echo Boomers, marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Seth Savoy. The title is another reference to Millennials, as the term "Echo Boomers" is a synonym for this generation. Disillusioned by a world where economic odds seem stacked against them, and based on a true story, the film’s protagonists form a crime ring and begin breaking into the wealthiest Chicago homes and taking what they want. Echo Boomers stars Patrick Schwarzenegger, Michael Shannon, Alex Pettyfer, Hayley Law, Lesley Ann Warren, and Oliver Cooper. It's easy to spin this as a very negative, dangerous story of criminals, but it's really about people taking back what was taken from them. It's not a new "Robin Hood" story, as they keep it all for themselves, but the rest of this is...

Netflix’s “Mindhunter” is a fictionalized exploration of the FBI’s study of violent criminals during the 1970s and 1980s. It earned its sole Emmy nomination in 2018 for Cameron Britton‘s guest performance as Edmund Kemper, the real life murderer dubbed the Co-Ed Killer. It returned with another rogues gallery of sociopaths in season two, three of whom are on this year’s Emmy ballot for Best Drama Guest Actor. One of them is Damon Herriman, who has the benefit of having played the same killer twice last year.
Herriman shows up in episode five of “Mindhunter” as Charles Manson, whose cult was responsible for the horrific murder of actress Sharon Tate and four others in Tate’s Los Angeles home. He’s interviewed in prison by FBI investigators Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) years after he was jailed for his crimes. And it just so...

Dakota Shapiro and Oliver Cooper in ‘Valley of the Boom.’
After making his Us TV debut in the National Geographic docudrama Valley of the Boom Dakota Shapiro was thrilled when he landed a role in the pilot of The Lost Boys, adapted from Joel Schumacher’s 1987 horror comedy movie.
The Australian-born, La-based actor had a terrific time shooting the pilot for The CW network, produced by Rob Thomas and directed by Catherine Hardwicke.
He played David, the sexy, dangerous and immortal vampire portrayed in the original film by Kiefer Sutherland.
The CW chiefs weren’t happy with the pilot scripted by Heather Mitchell and ordered a total reshoot, which retained just two members of the original cast: Shapiro and Medalion Rahimi, who played the carefree Californian Stella, David’s love interest.
However that hasn’t happened and the network’s hold on Dakota has expired so he is now busily auditioning.

Kazu Hiro (formerly known as Kazuhiro Tsuji) is the master of special effects makeup, earning the Oscar in 2018 for his amazing transformation of Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill (a key component of the actor’s Oscar win). In the first interview of season two of Mindhunter, true-crime sleuths meet David Berkowitz (Oliver Cooper), the postman-turned-serial-killer known as the Son of Sam killer. Before he investigates the Atlanta murders, Holden's first interview gig back after his panic attack is a chilling one indeed. From 1976 to 1977, Berkowitz killed six people and injured seven in eight separate shootings in New York City. He left letters for the NYPD to taunt them, signing them "The Son of Sam." If you're curious about this dark case beyond the context of the series, here are its grim details, from speculations about whether Berkowitz acted alone to his whereabouts today.
David Berkowitz's Crimes
Berkowitz wrought havoc in New York City during what became coined as the "Summer of Sam" in 1977. Igniting widespread terror and the city's largest manhunt at the time, the serial killer used a .44 revolver to execute his crimes. Berkowitz predominantly targeted young women with long,...

The new season of Netflix’s hit series “Mindhunter” dropped Aug. 16, and this year the series finds FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) taking on the Atlanta child murders, which unfolded between 1979 and 1981, with 28 African Americans slaughtered in Georgia. No one has ever been charged for the murders.
According to a new feature in the Los Angeles Times, Netflix has confirmed that the “Mindhunter” team did not consult the families of the victims in the killings, two of whom feature prominently in the season — Camille Bell, the mother of nine-year-old Yusuf Bell, who was found dead in 1979, and Venus Taylor, the mother of 12-year-old Angel Lenair, who was found dead in 1980. The investigation is currently being reopened, and with the new attention the issues of racial injustice inherent to the case are coming to the forefront.

National Geographic's '90s tech series Valley of The Boom tells the Silicon Valley story like no one else has.
Matthew Carnahan saw only one path when he pitched his vision for a series based on the real-life stories of the ‘90s tech bubble to National Geographic.
The House of Lies creator was never interested in telling a conventional story about clicking keys and endless lines of code. He cooked up something strange, a plan to make a show that was both fresh and innovative, worthy of being set during a period of profound technological advancement. So Carnahan walked into a pitch meeting and told the network that he sought to “ruin the genre.” He wanted the show to be as disruptive, an overused buzzword today, as the Og tech disruptors.

National Geographic's '90s tech series Valley of The Boom tells the Silicon Valley story like no one else has.
Matthew Carnahan saw only one path when he pitched his vision for a series based on the real-life stories of the ‘90s tech bubble to National Geographic.

Midway through Nat Geo’s latest scripted-documentary hybrid “Valley of the Boom,” three lead characters are assassinated. Bradley Whitford being garroted in the middle of his own series may seem like a major spoiler, but it’s not even a surprise. For one, you’ve been watching the real-life man he’s playing — James Barksdale, 75, and very much alive — recount the same experiences direct to camera for the last three hours. For another, the assassinations are so choreographed, so slowly executed, so obviously over-the-top, that by the time Lamorne Morris’ imaginary “amalgam” of banker types shows up to explain that all these murders are just a metaphor for what happened to their business, the gesture is redundant — and as painful as a bullet to the brain.

Lamorne Morris comes bearing gifts this holiday season: The first episodes of Nat Geo's new series Valley of the Boom.
The story of the internet is still being written, one line of code at time. A handful of major players–Amazon, Apple, Google, and Facebook–dominate the headlines as they fight to seize the narrative about where the future of technology is going. But what was the internet like during its formative years? How did it lead us here? And who were the major players that took us on this wild ride?
National Geographic’s new series Valley of the Boom tells the story of the early days of the internet by chronicling pivotal stories from the dot-com bubble era. It’s set to premiere on January 13th, but with the show focusing on the tech industry’s original disruptors, the network decided to go new school...

Jason Reitman, coming off the incredibly controversial and mixed acclaim of Tully, teams up with Hugh Jackman for The Front Runner. A story that details Gary Hart’s chaotic campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination and the onslaught and fallout of controversy that followed. It is without a doubt a true return to form for Reitman with the film affirming the extraordinary talents of both Reitman as writer/director and the ever-evolving range and filmography that Hugh Jackman is achieving.
The first thing to notice is the pacing. It is astronomically quick. Never in a pedantic or overly zealous manner. Editor Stefan Grube manages to perfectly balance the...
