Exclusive: Industry star Myha’la has joined Lily James in 20th Century’s upcoming movie inspired by the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of Bumble and co-founder of Tinder.
We understand filming is due to get underway in LA early next month.
20th Century Studios and Ethea Entertainment, the production company formed by Jennifer Gibgot and Andrew Panay, are behind the project, which has James in the lead role.
After co-founding Tinder, Wolfe Herd left the dating app in 2014. She went on to launch competitor Bumble that same year. In 2021, the company went public and she officially became one of the youngest self-made billionaires at age 31. She would step down as CEO in 2023 but by then the app had become a huge success with several divisions that are still thriving today.

Awkwafina rose to fame with her idiosyncratic, trademark comedic stylings. Then she wowed us all with her against-type performance in Lulu Wang‘s “The Farewell,” which very nearly earned her an Oscar nomination back in 2019. She delivers another quiet, subdued role in the Hulu telefilm “Quiz Lady,” which could well reap her a career-first Emmy bid for acting.
Awkwafina plays the reserved Anne, who must compete on the game show she is obsessed with alongside her loud, abrasive, estranged sister Jenny (Sandra Oh) in order to pay off their mom’s gambling debts. The result is a heartwarming comedy that is one of the sweet treats of the year. Critics loved the movie and singled out Awkafina for particular praise.
Tania Hussain (Collider) exclaimed: “While Awkwafina has shown audiences a whacky, often one-dimensional side in some of her roles like the sitcom ‘Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens,’ she is able...

Pamela Anderson is dressing up for Naked Gun.
The actor has signed on to star opposite Liam Neeson in Paramount Pictures’ untitled remake of Naked Gun, based on the crime spoof comedies that were released in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Akiva Schaffer is directing the comedy, which has a script by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand and Schaffer. The trio were behind the popular and Emmy-winning Disney+ movie Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers.
The original movie, written and directed by Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams and David Zucker and based on their television series Police Squad! that lasted only six episodes, spoofed the tropes of police shows and films that had ingrained themselves into audience’s minds over the decades. It centered on an inept and clueless detective named Frank Drebin, played by Leslie Nielsen, who still somehow managed to solve the crime and save the day.

It’s official: Donald Trump — or at least a fictionalized version of him — is heading to Cannes.
The prestigious French film festival unveiled its 2024 official film selection Thursday in Paris, and Iranian-Danish filmmaker Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice was among the titles revealed for the event’s main competition.
The biographical drama stars Sebastian Stan as Trump and explores his career as an aspiring real estate tycoon in the New York City of the 1970s and 1980s. The film is described as a mentor-protégé narrative that documents the start of an American dynasty and tackles themes including power, corruption and deception. It delves into the relationship between Trump and Roy Cohn, the New York City prosecutor oft-remembered for working with Sen. Joseph McCarthy during the Second Red Scare.
The movie’s official logline reads: “The Apprentice is a dive into the underbelly of the American empire. It charts a young...

Celebrities have this affinity for the sheer trend. For years, sheer dresses and gowns have dominated the red carpet, and whether you like it or not, the trend is here to stay. I even feel like it has become an alternative to classic black dresses.
At the inauguration of the Dal Cuore alle Mani Dolce & Gabbana exhibition held at Palazzo Reale on Saturday, nearly every A-list attendee wore sheer outfits. Aside from Demi Moore, who dazzled in a crystal-embellished silver sheer gown, Lupita Nyong’o, Lily James, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley donned black sheer outfits.
Let’s look at the statement-making sheer looks at the Dolce & Gabbana exhibition, organized to commemorate the Italian luxury fashion house’s 40th anniversary.

Demi Moore, 61, Dares to Bare in Crystal Mesh Gown at Dal Cuore alle Mani Dolce & Gabbana Exhibition
I’ve always admired Demi Moore. Her incredible figure and daring yet classy red carpet style never disappoint. One of her most notable red-carpet moments to date came at the Dolce & Gabbana 40th anniversary gala, where she wore a glittering sheer gown from the Italian luxury fashion house, no less.
Demi Moore was among the celebrities invited to the inauguration of the Dal Cuore alle Mani (From the Heart to the Hands) exhibition at Palazzo Reale. In addition to honoring Dolce & Gabbana’s legacy, the exhibition celebrates Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana’s creative process, including the Italian artisans and cultural heritage that influenced their work.
Other guests include Lupita Nyong’o, Lily James, Naomi Campbell, Olivia Culpo, Helen Mirren, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Cher. All wore breathtaking outfits, but I think the evening’s most eye-catching dress belonged to Demi Moore.

Sofia Vergara is back on our small screens in a big way thanks to the her new Netflix series “Griselda.” The lavish production chronicles the rise of Griselda Blanco, known as the “cocaine Godmother,” as she flees from Medellín, Colombia, to Miami and creates one of the most notorious cartels in history.
Vergara gives her best performance in years as the ruthless, demanding, and brutal Griselda. She owns every scene she’s in and eats up not just the scenery but the entire cast, too. She commands every moment and delivers a complex portrait of a powerful woman, with critics agreeing Vergara is at the top of her game.
Barry Levitt (Empire) observed: “‘Griselda’ has given Vergara the chance to prove that she’s also a gifted dramatic actor — a challenge she more than rises to. Vergara (who also serves as executive producer) practically dissolves into the role, delivering an astonishing performance…...

“Mary & George” is the delicious new historical drama from British playwright D.C. Moore, who swaps out stuffy history lessons for a raucous, bawdy ride that fans of “The Favourite” will love. Like that Oscar-winning movie, this limited series on Starz focuses on an era of British royalty that is little-known to American audiences.
Julianne Moore plays the Countess of Buckingham, who groomed her son (Nicholas Galitzine) to seduce King James I (Tony Curran) in an attempt to curry favor, power, titles, and riches in 1600s England. In the titular role of Mary, Moore delivers another powerhouse performance. She owns every scene she’s in and proves once more why she is one of the best actresses working today. Over the past decade, Lily James has distinguished herself by building one of the most varied resumes as any film actor her age. After getting her start on British television, James first became known to American audiences in 2012 when she joined the cast of “Downton Abbey” as the love-struck Lady Rose MacClare, a role that earned James two Screen Actors Guild Awards as a member of the show’s ensemble cast.
The actress quickly followed up that television triumph with one on the big screen in the title role of Disney’s live-action “Cinderella,” directed by Kenneth Branagh, which clearly proved her appeal to audiences of all ages. One of the most reliable screen presences in recent years, James showed enormous range in choosing her projects, from such crowd pleasers as “Baby Driver” and “Mamma Mia! 1980s television series Baywatch is getting the reboot treatment at Fox, and here are the details of the new show.
Baywatch is perennialy parodied in mainstream media. Whether it’s the melodramatic scripts or the iconic slow motion running, with the show became a byword for televisual cheese. Perhaps most memorably, it featured as a major plot point in 2006 film Borat, as the title character becomes infatuated with Pamela Anderson. It also formed part of 2019 Disney+ drama Pam And Tommy, which saw Lily James play Anderson as she deals with sexism on the Baywatch set
Nevertheless, the show was and remains hugely popular, launching the global careers of Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff. It followed a group of lifeguards as they patrol the beaches of LA County, and was sold right around the globe.
It ran in its initial form for 241 episodes over eleven seasons from 1989 to 2001, with a spin-off,...

Spring is now only a few weeks away, and this March at Disney+, a red rose is growing up out of ice frozen ground!
Probably the biggest title on the House of Mouse streamer’s calendar this month is the exclusive streaming premiere of “Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version),” the ground-breaking and record-setting concert film tracking Swift’s Eras Tour. The new “(Taylor’s Version)” edit will feature the concert film in its entirety for the first time, plus the song “cardigan” and four additional acoustic songs.
Also premiering this month, “X-Men: The Animated Series” gets a long overdue revival with the new animated series “X-Men '97,” featuring the returns of original cast members Ray Chase, Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, and more. Plus, the British historical adventure “Renegade Nell” finally gets its series premiere at the end of the month.

One of the most acclaimed movies of 2023 is coming home: A24 has announced that "The Iron Claw" will be available on Blu-ray and DVD next month. But for those who aren't committed to picking up a physical copy of the film, it is also available to rent on VOD from a variety of digital retailers right now. So there are plenty of options, with even more on the way in the coming months (we'll get to that in a moment).
A24's wrestling drama about the Von Erichs "The Iron Claw" (read /Film's review here) is currently available to rent from retailers such as Apple TV+, Google Play, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube, among others. It is priced at $19.99 for a 48-hour rental, which is the standard premium VOD price that studios began running with a few years ago. That price typically drops several weeks after the initial Digital release date.

Ross last wore Prada in mid-January, donning a business-casual gray collarless jacket and pencil skirt, reports Fashionista. This time, the 51-year-old headed to the Prada Fall/Winter 2024-25 Womenswear presentation wearing head-to-toe Prada again.
A sheer navy skirt and white blouse served as the base of her workwear-inspired look. A mint green fringed collar livened up Ross’s top and echoed the label’s 2024 aesthetic. Sadly, even the claws are not enough to prey on the Oscar nominations. Robbed of even a single Oscar nomination, The Iron Claw can relate to it. An inspiring story of the real-life Von Erich brothers, The Iron Claw became fans’ favorite without a doubt. Released on December 22, 2023, the movie is an ambitious and forceful account of the top-gear wrestlers of the early 1980s.
The movie has already been nominated for the National Board of Review Award for Best Ensemble. However, the actors and the crew seem to be unhappy because of not getting the most prestigious award which they, as well as their fans, think that they rightfully deserved.

Lionsgate has acquired domestic rights to the Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lily James and Himesh Patel comedy “Greedy People.”
The film explores what happens when the eccentric residents of a small, picturesque island town are faced with a sensational murder and the discovery of $1 million next to the body. This sparks a series of increasingly bad decisions that do a number on the peace and tranquility of the community.
“’Greedy People’ is a hugely entertaining crime thriller in every way,” said Allison Lynch, Lionsgate’s director of acquisitions and co-productions. “Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lily James, and Himesh Patel lead an incredible cast through twists and turns that range from the hilarious to the horrific – and the movie always keeps you guessing.”
The film’s starry ensemble also features Uzo Aduba (“Orange is the New Black”), Tim Blake Nelson (“The Ballad of Buster Scruggs”), Jim Gaffigan (“Chappaquiddick”) and Simon Rex (“Red Rocket”).

Stars: Holt McCallany, Harris Dickinson, Jeremy Allen White, Stanley Simons, Zac Efron, Maura Tierney, Lily James | Written and Directed by Sean Durkin
For his third film, writer/director Sean Durkin delivers a feature based on the tragic true story of the Von Erich family. Believing that he was denied the chance to become a wrestling champion, the embittered Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany) has driven his sons to take that chance and become victorious. Set across the 1980s, The Iron Claw captures the familial triumphs and the tragedies which befell them inside and outside the ring.
As the Von Erich’s driving force, whether they like it or not, McCallany exceptionally brings alive the domineering father who uses his sons to achieve his unfulfilled dreams. There is never a threat of the character becoming cartoonish, as the verbally abusive figure proclaims his manipulations as being for the family’s good.

A career-best turn from Zac Efron, plus a tide of true-life triumph and tragedy, power director Sean Durkin’s bone-crunching drama
“There’s nothing fake about what we do,” says wrestler Kevin Von Erich. He’s fielding a coy question from flirtatious fan (and girlfriend in waiting) Pam (Lily James), and he fervently believes what he’s saying. She, reasonably, asks him how anyone can call themselves a “world champion” wrestler when so much of what plays out in the ring is “pre-arranged”. Kevin argues that the performance is the point; that the difference between a Speedo-clad lunk sweating it out on the provincial circuit and a bona fide champion boils down to self-belief and the quality of the show that they put on for the audience.
And this is a central idea in writer-director Sean Durkin’s powerful third film, a factually based account of the larger-than-real-life Von Erich wrestling dynasty,...

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has found his next role in David Mackenzie’s heist thriller “Fuze,” which Anton will launch at the European Film Market in Berlin this month.
The film reunites Taylor-Johnson and “Hell or High Water” helmer Mackenzie, who last worked together on 2018’s “Outlaw King.” With a script from Ben Hopkins, “Fuze” “opens on the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb in a London construction site, sparking a mass evacuation – the perfect cover for a heist,” according to the film’s synopsis.
Taylor-Johnson’s stacked project lineup currently includes the headlining role in Marvel’s “Kraven and the Hunter,” due out in August; “The Fall Guy” alongside Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt; and Robert Eggers’ highly anticipated “Nosferatu.” Mackenzie’s 2016 neo-Western “Hell or High Water” scored four Oscar noms, including best picture, and he’s also set to direct “Relay” starring Lily James, Riz Ahmed and Sam Worthington.

The original Doughtlander may not be over, but Outlander: Blood of My Blood hopes to close the gap.
For sure, it will be taking over where Outlander leaves off, even if it explores a story long before Jamie and Claire were figments of their parents' imagination.
Here’s what we know bout Blood of My Blood Season 1 so far.
What is Outlander?
It’s best to start with what we know, which is what came before. Outlander is based on a series of books by author Diana Gabaldon.
Outlander is a time-traveling love story between 20th-century (married) nurse Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser and 18th-century Jamie Fraser.
When visiting the ancestral home of her husband, Frank, Claire stumbles through the rocks at Craigh na Dun, which takes her back in time.
Unable to easily find her way back, the sassy lady leans on handsome laird Jamie for protection, and soon, they are in love.

Deadline’s Read the Screenplay series spotlighting the year’s most talked-about scripts continues with The Iron Claw, which tells the saga of the wrestling Von Erich family in two hours.
It begins with Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany), who wrestled in the ’60s. When they were old enough, Fritz got his sons Kevin (Zac Efron) and David (Harris Dickinson) in the ring, eventually training Mike (Stanley Simons) too. Kerry (Jeremy Allen White) only turned to wrestling after his Olympic hopes in 1980 were dashed by the U.S. boycott.
The A24 film is named after the Von Erichs’ signature move, but like any biopic, consolidating the life of its subject requires craft. In the case of the Von Erich family, that meant four brothers were all the film could handle. Youngest brother Chris Von Erich, who took his own life at age 21, is not included.

Take a look at more footage from "The Iron Claw" biographical sports feature, based on the life of professional wrestler 'Kevin Von Erich' and the 'Von Erich' family, written and directed by Sean Durkin, starring Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany and Lily James, now playing in theaters:
"...the film is centered around the 'Von Erich' family, a dynasty of wrestlers from the 1960's onwards that had enormous success, and popularized the 'iron claw' professional wrestling hold.
"However, they not only had to battle inside the ring, but fight the 'Von Erich curse' outside of it..."

A24's The Iron Claw will soon be available to purchase online and stream for fans wanting to watch again or skip the theater experience.
Starring Zac Efron, The Iron Claw had its wide release in theaters on December 22. Following the tragic story of the Von Eirch wrestling family, the sports film directed and written by Sean Durkin is expected to draw some attention from the Academy Awards.
While the box office results may not be breathtaking, the cast is notable, with Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Lily James, and Harris Dickinson drawing much interest to this story based on true events.

‘Twas the weekend before Christmas and all through the theaters, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” was the box office leader.
The latest and final entry in the current iteration of the DC Comics universe got off to a less-than-splashy start with $13.7 million on opening day across 3,706 locations — getting a boost from showtimes in premium large format auditoriums like Imax. It’s a downtick from the original “Aquaman,” which posted a $27.7 million opening day around the holidays in 2018.
The writing’s been on the wall for a while with the Warner Bros. release, with the studio seemingly having moved on as James Gunn prepares his reboot of DC Comics properties with “Superman: Legacy.” Even star Jason Momoa has stated that “it’s not looking too good” for his potential future as the King of Atlantis — hardly the encouraging rhetoric usually seen in a promotional junket. Reviews have been pretty negative for the sequel,...

The Iron Claw Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, and Lily James
Director: Sean Durkin
The Iron Claw Movie Review Is Out! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
What’s Good: The performances coming from a line of promising young actors feel fitting when telling the story of this family of wrestlers
What’s Bad: Some of the setup in the first act seems to be lacking, and some of the events in the last third feel weaker than they should.
Loo Break: The movie could have actually been longer, so there are no breaks in this one, every moment is vital to understanding the characters and where they are going.
Watch or Not?: This is one of the best films of the year in a very low-key way. It might not be spectacular, but it is very, very good in its own way.

Chicago – An epic piece of miscasting puts “The Iron Claw” in a sleeper hold it’s never quite able to escape from … the pint sized gaping empty hole at its center has a name, and it is Zac Efron. Efron mistakenly believes that his admittedly drastic physical transformation will do his acting for him. But instead of looking tough, he instead looks distractingly cartoonish, like a He-Man doll come to life.

Portraying the 1970s/80s pro wrestling Von Erich brothers are Efron, Jeremy Allen White (of “The Bear”), Harris Dickinson, and Stanley Simons. Their father Fritz (Holt MacCallany) was a 1950s/60s pro wrestler who never got his own shot at the title, and pushes and pushes his sons to get into the squared circle and bring a title belt home. They compete against each other for their father’s attention and his approval knowing that one slip up...

The outcomes in wrestling might be staged, but the pain is very real. Pro wrestlers grapple, smash, and slam each other around for our amusement, and several documentaries and features already consider the long-term physical and emotional effects of life in the ring. But Sean Durkin’s The Iron Claw might be the best of them, a heartbreaking true story about one of the sport’s biggest dynasties and the curse they sought to climb out from under.
The film begins with Fritz Von Erich (Holt McCallany) in the ring, delivering his famous finishing move – from which the film gets its name – to an opponent as his fans cheer him on. But the majority of the film follows him in his career as a promoter in Texas, where his true iron grip is on his sons, each of whom he trains and berates in order to help them secure what...
