Her responsibilities included hand-held camera and jib operation, training and coordinating freelancers for live productions, video editing/producing and writing scripts, treatments and concepts for Bishop Joseph W Walker, III of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Nashville, TN.
Branching off into the film world, Nicolle had the opportunity to venture to Key West, Florida to shoot a documentary called "The Journey". She was also a top finalist in the Short Script Competition for her first short on HIV/AIDS. Nicolle later shot, produced, directed and edited that script, in just 6 days. The success of the SHORT, had people buzzing, pushing Nicolle to release the feature for the film, soon. "My ultimate goal is to bring my screenplays to life. As I produce more and more projects my creativity will expand thus leading me closer to opportunities that will enable me to fulfill my dream of becoming a well known, successful film producer, writer and director." Nicolle has been fortunate enough to study film making with Johnny Simmons, ASC one of the top African American Directors of Photography in the country. Mr. Simmons is also a member of the prestigious American Society of Cinematography. "Due to the training and knowledge I gained from Johnny, I've worked on other short film projects." Most recently, Nicolle has produced her 1st feature length film that made to store shelves entitled, The 70% Club. The film screened to a SOLD-OUT crowd of 400 PLUS persons before being picked up by Maverick Entertainment. Nicolle served as Editor of the film.
Interested in the acting arena, Ms. Whalen made an outstanding first impression in (2) sold out shows of the stage play, FOR COLOR GIRLS WHO CONSIDERED SUICIDE WHEN THE RAINBOW WAS ENUF, Directed by Stella Reed.
