Yunus Roy Imer is a London and Berlin based, internationally working and award-winning cinematographer.
His debut film "SYSTEM CRASHER" (directed by Nora Fingscheidt) won a Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival and was selected as a German Oscar nominee, won eight Lolas and screened at the Cameraimage Festival in the Cinematographer's Debut Competition. For the documentary "SPACE DOGS" (directed by Elsa Kremser & Levin Peter), which premiered in Locarno and toured festivals worldwide, Roy received the Diagonale's "Best Cinematography Award for Documentaries".
Most recently, Roy was nominated for the Swiss Film Award for Best Cinematography in 2023 for his camera work for "99 MOONS" (directed by Jan Gassmann). The film had its world premiere in Cannes in the L'ACID section. He's other works include "BLACK NIGHT" (director: Özcan Alper), "THE POET'S WIFE" (director: Helke Misselwitz) and "WITHOUT THIS WORLD" (director: Nora Fingscheidt), for which Roy was nominated for the German Camera Award in 2018.
Roy was responsible for the camera for Nora Fingscheidt's new feature film "THE OUTRUN". The film, which starred Saoirse Ronan, is based on the successful memoir by Amy Liptrot. Filming took place in England, Scotland and the Orkney Islands in 2022. The film is expected for 2024.
In 2023, he shot the Swiss-Iraqi co-production "AL BASEER" (director: Ali Al-Fatlawi) in the southern marshes of Iraq. The film is currently in post-production.
