In 2015, Burgess appeared in a Miami production of the Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical Into the Woods, playing The Witch--a role that was originally written for a woman and that has been played by such famous actresses as Bernadette Peters, Phylicia Rashad, Vanessa Williams, and, in the movie, Meryl Streep. In a January 2015 Playbill article by Andrew Gans, the co-runner of the producing theater said, "We wrote a letter, through MTI, addressed to Mr. Sondheim and Mr. Lapine regarding Tituss playing the Witch and we were approved! It was a special moment for us.".

Graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in music.

Nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award in the Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category for his role as Titus Andromedon in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015), but lost to Henry Winkler from Barry (2018).

Born on exactly the same date as "Kids Incorporated" alum Jennifer Love Hewitt (also of "I Know What You Did Last Summer" fame).
