- Sound Department
Katie Waters is a Foley Artist based in Chicago, Illinois, known for Destiny 2: Lightfall (2023), After Death (2023), Reporting for Christmas (2023), and The Highest of Stakes (2023). Katie first became interested in a career in sound after seeing how music was used in Wes Anderson movies like Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums. After taking a video editing class in high school, she decided to go to film school at Columbia College Chicago, where she took picture editing and post-production sound classes, along with the Art & Craft of Foley class. So the obsession began. After graduating film school, Katie completed internships at a few post-production facilities that specialized in sound for commercials, film and video games. In 2012, she was hired for her first Foley Artist role on a feature film and TV series. In 2014, she was hired as a Studio Manager for Noisefloor, Chicago's premiere production sound, post-production sound and music facility. In 2016, she was promoted to Noisefloor's Producer. In 2021, she was promoted to in-house Foley Artist at the post facility and transitioned out of Producing. Katie performs and records sound effects for films, video games, podcasts, and commercials. Her heart lies in performing and dissecting and understanding characters emotions then attempting to re-create them through sound.
