The clip for the highly-anticipated sequel opens with Sandler’s Happy gazing upon the busts of some of golf’s greats — Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods, before getting to his own less-than-flattering statue and quipping: “SpongeBob? What is that? What’s with the beaver teeth?”

Julie Bowen, Bad Bunny and Ben Stiller each get their own moments in the clip, while Christopher McDonald, Dennis Dugan and Allen Covert are set to reprise their roles in the sequel to the 1996 sports comedy classic. The Ugly Stepsister gets its first trailer, previewing the twisted new take on Cinderella with a glowing score on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by Emilie Blichfeldt, the upcoming body horror film follows Lea Myren's Elvira, a young woman who begins to take drastic measures to alter her appearance as she competes against her beautiful stepsister in a realm where looks are everything. Despite making an audience member vomit at its Sundance premiere earlier this year due to a few extremely graphic scenes, The Ugly Stepsister reviews have been generally glowing from critics.
Ahead of the film's theatrical release on April 18, Shudder now releases the full trailer for The Ugly Stepsister, providing a new look at some of the movie's stomach-turning body horror sequences. The trailer features a new look at the movie's depiction of a brutal rhinoplasty procedure, as well as another sequence in which a character has new eyelashes sewn in.

Crafting a genre mashup is much more complex than many imagine. However, when the combination is not executed at a high level, the weaker aspects of each genre become even more apparent to the audience. O’Dessa, unfortunately, falls into this realm, with the sci-fi, post-apocalyptic musical struggling to blend its ideas into a story that rises above service-level cultural critiques. While director Geremy Jasper tries to infuse style into the tale, the execution does not match O’Dessa‘s ambition. This makes the musical feel like a frustrating miss from its opening sequences.

These days, it seems like all anyone can talk about in Hollywood are "nepo babies." Originating in the early 2020s, "nepo baby" describes individuals whose success can be attributed to a parent or relative's previous success in the same industry due to nepotism. Plenty of celebrities have achieved accolades without fans knowing about their famously talented families. Some of the most iconic A-listers in film and TV owe their successes to extreme privilege, such as people like Ben Stiller, or Zoë Kravitz.
Most of the time, nepo babies are forced to wear their privilege on their sleeves just by virtue of their names, as Allison Williams (daughter of former NBC anchor Brian Williams) told Wired, "It doesn't feel like a loss to admit it ... If you trust your own skill, I think it becomes very simple to acknowledge." Others, like Jamie Lee Curtis, have spoken out against the ridicule towards nepotism babies in pop culture.

It took me a second viewing to appreciate what Margaret Qualley was up to in "The Substance". Great work!
Reckless sex workers, repressed CEOs, witches-in-training, and a triple helping of “Elizabeths” (!?!) factor into the incredible characterizations offered up by gifted actresses in leading roles this past film season. As we say goodbye to the year in cinema just behind us, a tribute to my personal dozen favourites (alpha order) from leading ladies. Though it’s a full dozen I still had to leave out highly enjoyable star turns from June Squibb in Thelma and Scarlett Johansson in Fly Me to the Moon, as well as Amy Adams' funny and underappreciated juggling of dowdy and feral as “Mother” in Nightbitch. The actual shortlist for my own Best Lead Actress honors is revealed at the end.

There's no one in our modern film landscape like Sydney Sweeney. In a culture where looks tend to dominate your level of success, Sweeney has devoured stereotypes -- because let's face it, she's stunning -- and ultimately has made a name for herself with the quality of her work both on and offscreen. Though she did her first TV and film stints way back in 2009, her career didn't truly start to pick up until nearly a decade later in 2018. Since then, she has completely taken the industry by storm as a performer and, even more recently, as a dedicated producer.
Sweeney doesn't have a ton of noteworthy credits to her name at this point in her career, but there's no denying she's already done some extremely memorable top-notch work, and there's even more in the pipeline with her upcoming turn as boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic. From dramas to rom-coms,...

Viewers felt Gayle King and the CBS Mornings crew might have been doing too much during their recent interview.
The group spoke with English actor Jason Isaacs about his role as Timothy Ratliff on The White Lotus.
“I love this show; it’s a pop culture phenomenon. The current Season 3 is no different; it does not disappoint,” Gayle said before introducing a clip from the show.
Isaacs’ character is a wealthy Southerner, and he nailed the accent for the role.
He shared that he learned to achieve the accent after visiting Durham, North Carolina, and studying with a brilliant dialect coach.
Soon after that discussion, Gayle mentioned a “full-frontal” scene that Isaacs did in an episode, which resulted in online debate.

“The White Lotus” star Jason Isaacs finds all the attention paid to his full frontal nude scene in the HBO show “odd” — especially because there seems to be a double standard at play. During an interview on “CBS Mornings” Friday, Isaacs told hosts Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson that “it’s interesting that there’s a double standard for men.”
Things started when King asked, “Was that you or was that a prosthetic? Because we were debating it.”
Isaacs appeared willing to entertain the conversation to a point. “A lot of people were debating it. It’s all over the internet,” he answered, before King pointed out, “You didn’t answer the question!”
“Well, I’ll tell you why,” Isaacs bounced back. “Because the Best Actress this year was Mikey Madison at the Oscars, and I don’t see anybody discussing her vulva, which is on [screen] all the time.

After everyone finished talking about Leslie Bibb's iconic reaction in The White Lotus season 3 episode 3's awkward dinner scene, the very following episode dropped the show's next moment everyone couldn't stop talking about: Jason Issacs' nude scene. The White Lotus season 3 episode 4 featured an unexpected full-frontal nude scene that's been cause for much debate.
Did the Harry Potter alum use a prosthetic penis in the scene? Was that really him? It's been the conversation surrounding the scene since the episode aired, and Isaacs was asked point blank while dropping by CBS Mornings to promote the HBO show. Gayle King, Tony Dokoupil, and Vladimir Duthiers asked the actor about the scene and pressed him when he "dodged" the question.
As transcribed by The Hollywood Reporter, here's what Isaacs said about the nudity double standard when it comes to men and women on screen:

Jason Isaacs is sick of being asked whether or not he wore a prosthetic penis in “The White Lotus” following the third season’s fourth episode, where his haracter, Timothy Ratliff, had his penis hanging out of his bathrobe while in front of his children. What’s going to be this year’s “Anora”? As the Cannes Film Festival rapidly approaches, that’s the question for artistic director Thierry Fremaux and movie buffs around the world.
A month before Cannes Film Festival’s press conference, the official selection is still very much a work in progress, with little reliable information filtering through about which movies have already been invited. In fact, as of Friday — despite the volume of splashy prediction stories — it appears that only three films have so far been given a golden ticket to compete in Cannes. Variety can reveal that one of them is Jim Jarmusch’s anticipated “Father Mother Sister Brother“ starring Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver and Tom Waits.
The last edition of the festival, which Fremaux had warned would be slightly weaker due to the impact of the double Hollywood strikes, proved to be anything but. Headlined by Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning “Anora,...

While details on the plot remain under wraps, the film promises to expand on the Death Stranding universe, introducing new elements and characters rather than directly adapting the game’s storyline.
While video game adaptations have historically been hit-or-miss, Kojima and Lebovici are setting out to redefine the genre. Unlike the typical blockbuster-style adaptations, they promise something more intimate and grounded.

Although otherwise “The Substance” had monstrous luck at the 2025 Academy Awards, Coralie Fargeat’s horror film starring Demi Moore did walk away with one Oscar for Best Hair and Makeup Design, as it was favored to do. Now, however, producer Nicolas Royer has weighed in on acrimony between members of the hair and makeup team that has been brewing both before and after the Oscar ceremony.
You might well think that an entire team would qualify equally for an Academy Award; or that one single representative, the department head, would automatically be the nominee for an Oscar category. But each Hair and Makeup nomination is limited to three nominees. This in part reflects the complex way that prosthetics, hair design, and conventional makeup all work together to transform actors into characters and still caps the number of award winners. But it’s a complicated compromise.

Earlier this month, a rumour surfaced suggesting that Mikey Madison, fresh off her Oscar win for Anora, is being eyed for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Madison was best known for supporting turns in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Scream before the actor's breakthrough performance in Anora earned her several accolades, including the aforementioned Academy Award.
Today, gossip website Deuxmoi claims that Marvel Studios wants Madison for the upcoming X-Men reboot. They don't expect her to say yes but who the 25-year-old could play is undeniably intriguing.
Jean Grey, perhaps? Characters like Rogue, Mystique, and Emma Frost would also be a great fit.
Rumours continue to swirl about the X-Men cast. Sadie Sink was the reported frontrunner to play Jean, though her Spider-Man 4 casting has seemingly debunked the notion. Jack Champion and Harris Dickinson, meanwhile, have been eyed for Cyclops.

At a time when California is looking up its tax credits to $750M annually, there’s some serious competition from across the pond, and that’s Ireland.
The Taoiseach of Ireland/Prime Minister of Ireland Michael Martin was here in Austin, TX on Monday along with Cinetic CEO John Sloss, The Astronaut filmmaker Jess Varley, and Irish producer Tristan Orpen Lynch to share the great experience of not only shooting in the country of leas and cliffs, but also the extremely competitive tax credit.
Sloss recently produced the Richard Linklater Berlin premiere, Blue Moon, over in Ireland, in addition to Varley with her SXSW world premiere The Astroanaut, and Lynch with his drama series Mix Tape.
Currently the Irish tax incentive for the screen industries, Section 481, provides a tax credit of up to 32% on eligible Irish expenditures based on 80% of a pic’s budget. That will soon rise to 40% for productions under 20 million Euros.

Hollywood is called the land of dreams, but for some, those dreams are served with a silver spoon. The term “nepo baby” has certainly become a buzzword in recent years, and it does spark a debate about privilege. However, actors like Jack Quaid are lauded as some of the few who have truly earned their status.
Jack Quaid in The Boys | Prime Video
But he’s not the only one making waves in the industry, as other stars are also proving their mettle. From Stranger Things to Marvel, there are four other actors connected to influential families whose associations may open doors, but it’s their talent that keeps them in the room.

While an X-Men reboot is (finally) in development, Marvel Studios has also brought several actors from 20th Century Fox's now defunct franchise back to reprise their respective roles in the MCU.
Most recently, Hugh Jackman returned for Deadpool and Wolverine, and we also saw Sir Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Kelsey Grammar as Beast in The Marvels' post-credits scene.
In the stinger, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) wakes up in a medical lab after getting trapped in an alternate reality following her battle with Dar-Benn to find her late mother, Maria (Lashana Lynch), by her side. Rambeau is overcome with joy, but Maria - who is actually this world's Binary - has no idea who she is.
As Monica's confusion grows, a familiar voice asks "how's our patient," and a comic-accurate, fully CGI Hank McCoy, aka Beast, enters the room.

“The Substance” is the horror feature, written and directed by Coralie Fargeat, starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid, following a ‘fading celebrity’ who uses a black market drug to create a much younger version of herself, now streaming on digital platforms:
“…on her 50th birthday, ‘Elisabeth Sparkle’, a once-celebrated, now-faded Hollywood movie star, is unceremoniously dismissed from the long-running aerobics TV show she hosted, with producer ‘Harvey’ citing her advanced age as the reason.
“While driving home, Elisabeth is distracted by a billboard featuring herself being taken down, causing an accident. During a hospital check-up, a nurse slips her a flash drive advertising ‘The Substance’, a serum that generates a ‘younger, more beautiful, more perfect’ counterpart.
“After some deliberation, Elisabeth orders The Substance and injects the single-use activator serum, causing a much younger version of herself to emerge from her body called ‘Sue’…”

Mikey Madison may have just won her first Best Actress Oscar, but that wouldn’t have ever come about if it wasn’t for Quentin Tarantino. That’s not hyperbole; Anora director Sean Baker even admitted this during his own acceptance speech after being presented the Best Director Oscar by Qt himself.
Mikey Madison appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! a few months back ahead of the release of Anora but considering Once Upon a Time in Hollywood just got a little push from her Oscar win, let’s take a look back at how she landed the role of Sadie, modeled after Susan Atkins. “I got this audition, I think I was 19 years old, and I was like, ‘This is my one opportunity to meet Quentin Tarantino’ so I was like, ‘I’m just going to go all out.’ So, I did a lot of research into the Manson family,...

Never trust a narrative that suggests viewers are not interested in the Academy Awards or the high-wattage style parade of the Oscars red carpet because the numbers confirm otherwise.
Initial reports noted that ratings for the Oscars 2025 telecast were slightly down from 2024. But the updated Nielsen numbers — revised, as is the researcher’s policy, to include viewings on PCs, tablets and smartphones — reveal that the broadcast increased its viewership by 1 percent over the previous year with a total audience of 19.69 million.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s Red Carpet Power Rankings, meanwhile, delivered a far more significant increase. The Top 10 Fashion Brands seen on the 2025 Academy Awards red carpet totaled a whopping $101 million in earned engagement, up from $87.5 million in 2024. What might that mean? Did viewers find Oscar Night style more compelling than the previous year? That certain gown and tuxedo details became popular social-media conversations? Or were the stars themselves the...

We assumed Kelsey Grammar would be staying on as the McU's Hank McCoy after his post-credits scene cameo in The Marvels, but it seems Marvel Studios is planning to cast a new actor as Beast in the upcoming X-Men reboot.
According to The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider, Jesse Plemons is in consideration to play Beast in the movie. We're not sure if he's actually met with Marvel about the role or is simply a person of interest, but we can see quite a lot of fans getting behind this particular rumor.
Plemons is just the latest actor to be mentioned in connection with one of the main mutant roles in the film. Harris Dickinson and Jack Champion are reportedly being eyed to play Cyclops, with Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink a likely pick for Jean Grey. We've also heard that The Bear's Ayo Edebiri and DeWanda Wise are on the studio's radar to play Storm.

We’ve been hearing that Margaret Qualley would be working with Sanctuary director Zachary Wigon again on the psychological horror thriller Victorian Psycho, which was scheduled to start filming this month. In late January, Qualley even confirmed that she was working on her British accent in preparation for the film. But now, industry scooper Jeff Sneider reports that Victorian Psycho has lost Qualley just days before it was supposed to go into production. Sneider first dropped this news on the podcast The Hot Mic, then shared it in his The InSneider newsletter as well. Sneider wrote, “I’m not sure why, though it’s possible that a scheduling issue (perhaps with Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars?) prevented her involvement.”
Now we’ll have to wait and see who ends up replacing Qualley as the Victorian Psycho, as Wigon is said to be “scrambling” to find a new star for his film.

It hasn't been 30 years since we saw the original Happy Gilmore released, but it's been close. That film starring Adam Sandler as Happy was released on February 16, 1996. Little did we know at the time that Sandler was just beginning his ascent to being one of the more famous people making funny films.
Somehow, Sandler and the rest of the cast, which featured a number of cameos, made the movie iconic. Maybe it was Sandler's ridiculous swing, which many people have tried to replicate. It was the kind of swing a former hockey player-turned-golfer might do, which is exactly what Sandler's character was.
There has long been discussion of a sequel, and for seemingly just as long, the project has been in the works as part of Sandler's massive Netflix deal. The good news is that Happy Gilmore 2 is ready for release, and Netflix viewers and Happy fans found out...

Mikey Madison In Anora (Photo Credit – Instagram)
The 2025 Academy Awards concluded with a flourish, etching legacies aplenty, yet none rang out as resoundingly as the glistening indie romantic comedy-drama Anora, which commandeered five statuettes — Best Picture to Best Director, the night’s most vaunted haul.
Sean Baker, Anora’s multihyphenate helmsman, made history with four individual wins, a cataclysmic feat to surmount, but the spotlight also enunciated Mikey Madison taking home the Academy Award for Best Actress at 25. Madison’s outing as the salacious stripper Anora beguiled audiences, but did you know the actress first sauntered onto the big screen wielding a knife in a frenzied bid to attack Brad Pitt’s own Oscar-winning portrayal of Cliff Booth?

Craig’s sophomore film Quantum of Solace faced several hurdles before making it to production. Plagued with a writer’s strike shortly before production began, Craig called the filming process a nightmare as the studio went ahead without a proper script. It shows as it is considered one of the weakest Bond films in the franchise.

Doja Cat has addressed reactions to her performance at the 97th Academy Awards, where she took the stage alongside Lisa and Raye for a tribute to classic James Bond theme songs. The performance featured Lisa singing Live and Let Die, Doja Cat taking on Diamonds Are Forever, and Raye closing with Skyfall.
The tribute began with a dance sequence by Margaret Qualley, who wore a red satin dress in a nod to Bond film history. The performance has since sparked discussion online, with some praising the approach while others questioned how well the songs were executed.
Doja Cat shared her thoughts on the experience in an Instagram post, writing, “I never get to sing like that, and what I did was brave and scary as f— for me. I know a lot of people didn’t like it, but a lot of people did, and I feel good that I pushed myself.

The 2025 Oscars just happened, which means the Academy has been celebrating the talents behind the success of movies for over 97 years. And like all years, this year’s award ceremony was also filled with red-carpet moments, celebrities in flashy clothes, and a humorous host.
This year’s Oscars were supposed to be one for the history books, filled with record-breaking achievements and the making of legacies. A Spanish movie, Emilia Perez, was the frontrunner for the Oscars with 13 nominations, a first in Oscar history. Even Adrian Brody made it to the list of nominations again, and as expected, he converted that nomination into a win. He even had a moment with Halle Berry, making a callback to the 2003 Oscars.
There was even a brilliant performance from The Substance actor Margaret Qualley as she paid tribute to 60 years of Bond movies. All of these moments were adding up to make the four-hour Oscars feel much shorter.

First and foremost known as a rapper, Doja Cat — along with “Born Again” collaborators Lisa and Raye — took to the Oscars stage last night to perform a medley of songs from the James Bond franchise, in a sizable tribute to 007. Now, she’s addressing some of the online criticism regarding her performance.
In an Instagram post showing off her Balmain looks for the night, the Scarlet musician admitted she was nervous, but that she stood by her “brave” rendition: “I never get to sing like that and what I did was brave and scary as f— for me,” she said in part. “I know a lot of people didn’t like it but a lot of people did and I feel good that I pushed myself. The song is a classic and I put a lot of work into it but the nerves got to me and a bitch hit some flats.
