Abhinay Banker is a prominent figure in Gujarati theatre and cinema since 2006, he is actively working as an actor, director, and playwright. He holds a notable academic background, having both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Performing Arts (Theatre), where he achieved the distinction of being a Gold-medalist, and is pursuing his doctorate in performing arts Theatre from Gujarat University. Abhinay has performed in over 1600 stage shows, including 17 full-length theatre productions.
He has been awarded the State Awards from the Govt. of Gujarat for Screenplay & Dialogue writing in the year 2023. His portrayal of Mahatma Gandhi in the play Kasturba earned him the Best Actor award in 2013. He is a recipient of the Best Actor award at the San Diego International Film Festival for Gujarati film Mara Pappa Superhero (2022), he has also been part of the National Award-winning Gujarati feature film Reva (2018), and Bhinti Maage (2013), which received the Dada Saheb Phalke award for Best Marathi Short Film.
Continuing his journey in Gujarati cinema, Abhinay Banker featured in the films "Mijaaj" (2018) as VP, a local criminal and the antagonist in the film, directed by Tapan Vyas, and "Reva" (2018) as Bittu-Banga, a local engineer from a tribal community, directed by Rahul Bhole and Vinit Kanojia. In the same year, he made a small appearance in the Hindi feature film "Manto," portraying the character of a Shoe Shop Owner in Nandita Das's directorial venture. Abhinay Banker took on the role of Bhavlo in the Gujarati feature film "Mara Pappa Superhero", directed by Darshan Ashwin Trivedi. Additionally, he expanded his repertoire to the digital platform, featuring in the web series as the national poet Zaverchand Meghani in "Saambhlo Chho?" (2021), and "Ithaar" (2022) as Ishaan, a young man confused in relationship.
