You may not have heard of “Flack,” but it’s worth paying attention to just on its cast alone: Anna Paquin, Sophie Okonedo, Genevieve Angelson, Lydia Wilson, Rebecca Benson, Arinze Kene, Marc Warren and Rufus Jones. Originally on the PopTV network (formerly known as TV Guide Network) and the very reason why you probably haven’t heard about it, the show has moved to Amazon Prime for season two.

Last spring, with film screens dimmed and a disproportionate number of folks left with extra time to fill, the TV world was ready to be an escape vehicle. Plenty of people stuck to the recent classics or embarked on catch-up projects, but for people trying to tackle the slew of new releases, there was plenty of room to fully embrace a different kind of darkness than the one happening outside their doors.
While “Flack” may not have gruesome killings or spawn Change.org petitions, the razor-like sensibilities of the celebrity-centered drama might be just the turn-into-the-skid entertainment to light a spark underneath Amazon Prime Video’s 2021 programming slate. Originally a 2019 premiere on erstwhile “Schitt’s Creek” home network Pop, the show centers on Robyn (Anna Paquin), a main employee at a crisis PR firm tasked with cleaning up the messes of star athletes, actresses, and public figures, who all have something to sponge from the headlines.

Anna Paquin’s dark comedy drama Flack may well find another home in the U.S. after it was abruptly pulled by Pop TV.
Yesterday, it emerged that the ViacomCBS-backed network was pulling three of its five original series, including Flack, Florida Girls and Best Intentions. Flack was set to launch its second season on Pop on March 13.
However, Jimmy Mulville, who runs Flack producer Hat Trick Productions, told Deadline that he was “confident” of finding a new Stateside home for the series, which is co-produced by Paquin and Stephen Moyer’s Casm Films. A co-production with British broadcaster UKTV, it will still air on UKTV’s W network in March.
“It’s sad to end the show on Pop, the first season did well for them and UKTV,” said Mulville. “I’m confident that we’ll be able to find another home for the show. There’s no shortage of platforms.

Since its 2015 rebranding from TV Guide Network (Tvgn), the Pop cable TV channel has built up its original programming slate, and while much of that consists of "reality" TV series, they do offer scripted series too, like Schitt's Creek. The Flack TV show is the latest such offering. Since it will also air on UKTV's premium channel, W, the Nielsen ratings may not be the only factor to determine whether Flack is cancelled or renewed for season two, but the first season ratings will still influence whether the Us audience will see another season, so stay tuned. *Status update below.

There’s a familiar, acrid aftertaste to “Flack,” Pop’s new drama about the controlled chaos of the publicity industry. The grim behind-the-scenes machinations of the glossy entertainment industry have always been one of TV’s favorite subjects, as are the people tasked with pulling the strings without anyone ever realizing. Over just six episodes, the show manages to cover everything from serial harassers, to closeted athletes, to lazy comedians embracing transphobia rather than actual punchlines.
It also centers characters with deliberately jagged edges — the kind of people who flirt with self-improvement before spiraling into a self-loathing that they insist is inevitable. These so-called “antiheroes” have traditionally been grizzled men, but “Flack” is the latest show to let women assume the role, most particularly with Robin (executive producer Anna Paquin), an ace publicist whose mother’s suicide and addiction issues have hollowed her out. In this way, creator Oliver Lansley...

Olivia Pope's reign as Washington DC's greatest fixer ended with Scandal's series finale in April, but now we have a savvy new character ready to step into her high heels: Anna Paquin's Robyn, who's at the center of Pop TV's addicting new show Flack.
In the first trailer for the six-episode series, above, we get a glimpse of what goes into Robyn's day-to-day life as a cutthroat American publicist living in London. Although she'll do anything to keep her ill-behaved clients in the clear thanks to her role as a firm's crisis strategist, her own personal life is a total mess. Tony Award winner Sophie Okonedo costars, as well as Lydia Wilson, Rebecca Benson, and multi-Emmy-award winner Bradley Whitford. You can't afford not to check it out, right?
Watch the trailer before the show premieres on Feb. 21.

Scenario: Your client has an important engagement, but he’s been, well, otherwise engaged. It’s not a case of “who ya gonna call?” — because the burden is on you. How to handle it? You just handle it.
Here is the first teaser trailer for Flack, the celebrity-pr drama starring Anna Paquin that premieres February 21 on Pop. The Oscar winner plays Robyn, a quick-witted American publicist living in London who is an expert in her craft but a complete self-saboteur when it comes to her personal life. Robyn’s work as a crisis PR strategist is fast-paced and unpredictable as she counsels ill-behaved high-profile clients in a world where problems can go viral in an instant.
During a set visit in April, Paquin told Deadline: “I see this era of television as one in which women’s roles are interesting, flawed and complicated, where they’re not necessarily perfect. People...

[Editor’s Note: The following review of “Doctor Who” Season 10, Episode 10, “The Eaters of the Light” contains spoilers.]
The Rundown
“Doctor Who” gives us whiffs of “Outlander” with this jaunt back to 2nd century Aberdeen, Scotland, adjacent to cairns of standing stones that looks like it could transport a British lady back in time. Instead, the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and friends are here instead to figure out what happened to the Spanish Ninth Legion (Legio IX Hispana), which disappeared from records around 43 Ad. Naturally, an alien is to blame, but the Doctor sorts it all out in the end after whipping some whiny Roman soldiers and tribal Picts into shape. Although “The Eaters of the Light” was a wildly uneven episode, strong on messaging but weak on sense, it served to test its characters in revealing ways. Sadly, Auton replicant Rory (Arthur Darvill) did not make a cameo as the Last Centurion, although we suppose at this point he might be busy over at Stonehenge or guarding the Pandorica.

Superman actor Henry Cavill stars in The Witcher, Netflix's ambitious television series adaptation of the famed fantasy franchise.
Netflix’s The Witcher is conjuring a live-action manifestation of the popular fantasy novel series of Andrzej Sapkowski, which, of course, spawned the popular video game series.
Notably, it also marks a monumental turn for its star, Henry Cavill, who has permanently put away his Superman suit, and shaved that pesky Mission: Impossible – Fallout mustache, for a television series that matches if not exceeds the grandiosity of his big screen run as the Man of Steel.
While The Witcher games has taken some liberties with the novel source material, this television series will feature quite a few familiar faces and storylines. As Sapkowski expressed in a statement:
"I'm thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories. Staying true to the source material and...
