Kennedy-Smith was born in Riverside, California, as Jordan Mychal
Kennedy-Smith, the son of Shelley Kennedy-Smith the chief of police and
Melvin Smith, a medical biller. He has one sibling older brother Melvin
James Smith Jr. Kennedy-Smith has always said that he has come from a
two hardworking parent household led by his mother dominating officer
mentality. As a child, Kennedy-Smith was never allowed to dress or
associate himself with members of the urban culture who didn't have
strong morals or work ethic. In comparison to his father, he would
always figure out ways to become self motivated to earn money on his
own without working for an employer. Kennedy-Smith's father Melvin
Smith sacrificed long days for his family working for his own medical
billing company Kennedy & Smith Inc. located in Temecula, CA. At the
age of fifteen, Kennedy-Smith was introduced into acting by his father
who took theatre classes during his young career at Lynwood High in Los
Angeles. He was set up with profiles on popular websites Backstage West
and LA Casting which landed him his first acting role in popular
Hip-Hop artist Lil Flip's "What it do" music video in 2005. Three years
later, after becoming a stand out wide receiver and running back for
his Vista Murrieta High School team he became interested in the
operations behind the camera. He was still attending acting cast calls
when he realized he wanted to write, produce, and shoot his own
stories. His first chance was by entering in the Mr. Bronco Senior
Talent Show Ceremony in 2009 which would showcase his directing and
acting talents. Kennedy-Smith tied and won the Mr. Bronco award with a
fellow football teammate by self directing a three minute comedic music
video spoof. Furthermore, Kennedy-Smith put his entertainment career on
hold after accepting a football scholarship to play football at
Humboldt State University Lumberjacks in the fall of 2009. Film was
always in the back of his mind during practices and meetings. His
mother Shelley wanted him to achieve a bachelor's degree in
Communications or Business Management leaving time for his minor in
film second. He soon became interested in escaping his football career
planning for his future in entertainment. Kennedy-Smith transferred to
Arizona State University in 2010 leaving football behind to pursue a
Bachelor's in Film and Media Production at The Herberger Institute for
the Design and Arts. He is moving forward into a successful
entertainment career as a director, actor, and producer.
