Joey Massari is an LA-based composer, music producer and engineer from Palmdale, CA. A classically trained pianist in his youth, Joey developed a dual interest in music production and scoring for motion picture while at Occidental College, where he studied Music Composition and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film Production. The relationships he formed with fellow filmmakers on campus led him to score a handful of student films, including his own 10-minute short, Day Job.
After graduating in 2014, Joey landed a job as an assistant to Emmy-nominated composer Tree Adams. In the time since, he has accumulated an array of music credits on network TV shows such as The 100, NCIS: New Orleans, Lethal Weapon, and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. Alongside his career as a media composer, Joey stays busy working with various recording artists and production companies, producing a combination of hip hop, pop, soul, R&B, funk, and electronic music.
Drawing from a wide variety of styles, some of Joey's influences include Shuggie Otis, Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, Oasis, D'Angelo, J Dilla, Tame Impala, Anderson .Paak, and Disclosure. His personal project Six Foot Pigeons (co-founded with brother Tommy), seeks to blend these genres into a hybrid that both fits the current moment, and maintains its relevance for years to come.
