Exclusive: Derek Kolstad, the screenwriter behind the John Wick series, is collaborating with Amazon Studios to develop a live-action feature film based on the iconic Japanese action-horror manga Hellsing.
“Ever since my brother introduced me to the Hellsing manga and anime some years ago, I’ve been obsessed with adapting it,” Kolstad said. “And when Mike Callaghan and his team managed to secure the rights to then partner us up with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Amazon, I mean -damn, dude- this is a dream.”
Written and illustrated by Kouta Hirano and published by Shōnen Gahōsha, Hellsing reimagines Dracula as Alucard, a special agent bound to The Hellsing Organization, under the leadership of Integra Hellsing, great-granddaughter of Abraham Van Hellsing, to aid them in their mission to protect England and the world from vampires, ghouls, and other supernatural threats. The manga also focuses on Hellsing’s newest recruit, a female ex-police officer named Seras Victoria.

Jai Courtney and "Game of Thrones" actress Natalie Dormer are set to join Michael Douglas and Brenton Thwaites in the Todd Komarnicki-directed "God Four" for Protagonist Pictures.
The story follows a documentary filmmaker (Courtney), on the eve of his ten-year school reunion, who discovers one of his championship rowing crew has just committed suicide.
The discovery compels him to look back at his final year at college - a time of rivalry, romance and dangerous secrets. Jason Speer, Lars Winther, Peter Winther and Hadeel Reda will produce and filming kicks off next month.
Dormer's immediate next film is the psychological revenge thriller "In Darkness" which she co-wrote with Anthony Bryne and in which she plays a blind musician who gets pulled into London's dark underbelly after she hears a murder committed in the apartment above her.

More news coming out of Cannes today, as we’re learning that Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer has joined the cast of Todd Komarnicki’s God Four, where she’ll appear alongside Jai Courtney, Michael Douglas and Brenton Thwaites.
The pic is set to follow Courtney’s documentary filmmaker who, “on the eve of his 10-year school reunion, discovers one of his championship rowing crew has just committed suicide. The discovery compels him to look back at his final year at college, a time of rivalry, romance and dangerous secrets.”
No word on who Dormer may play in the film, but it sounds like a solid enough premise, and the cast isn’t bad either, so as of now you can color us intrigued. After all, any chance for Dormer to gain more exposure is absolutely fine by us.
