The Republican National Committee (RNC) is using robotic calls to spread inaccurate information about the 2020 election with scripted calls to voters’ phones on behalf of the new co-chair, Lara Trump, Donald Trump‘s daughter-in-law.
Despite calls from prominent Republicans to focus on the future and win in 2024, the RNC, under Lara’s leadership, continues to propagate baseless claims about massive fraud in the last election.
As a commentator and surrogate for the former president, Lara has consistently supported Trump’s unfounded allegations. The recent call obtained by CNN, estimated to have reached approximately 145,000 recipients between April 1 and 7, echoed Lara’s previous statements.
The scripted call alleged various forms of election fraud, such as the absence of photo IDs, unsecured ballot drop boxes, mass mailing of ballots and voter rolls that contained deceased individuals and non-citizens. It even suggested that Democrats aim to cancel out legitimate votes with those cast by non-citizens.

Donald Trump reportedly did not expect to win the presidency in 2016, which isn’t surprising considering how ill-prepared he and his team were to take control of the country. He appointed established conservatives to key positions before learning some had personal principles that extended beyond indulging the president’s ego. Trump wreaked havoc on the United States for four years, but the damage might have been even greater if he wasn’t battling career public servants who tried to check his impulses, or if he wasn’t such a political neophyte.

MyPillow ads have disappeared from Fox News, as Mike Lindell complains that he’s being silenced but the network says it’s because his company has not paid its bills.
“As soon as their account is paid, we would be happy to accept their advertising,” a Fox News spokesperson said on Friday.
Lindell talked about the situation on Steve Bannon’s podcast and in his own video message on his site, FrankSpeech.com. Lindell said that Fox News “has cancelled MyPillow. We don’t know why. We can only make a couple of guesses. Maybe it was because Lou Dobbs was added here over at Lindell.com.”
Dobbs is the former Fox Business Network host who was pulled from the lineup in 2021. Dobbs had amplified claims that the 2020 election was rigged, and was named as a defendant in election systems company Smartmatic’s defamation lawsuit against the network. “I believe...

Donald Trump can still be restricted in what he says witnesses as well as lawyers and court staff, and their families, in his federal election conspiracy case, an appellate court ruled on Friday.
The three-judge panel largely upheld Judge Tanya Chutkan’s gag order in the proceedings, with the exception that the restrictions do not apply to Special Counsel Jack Smith, a frequent Trump target who he has labeled “deranged.”
The judges also set parameters for the type of restrictions on Trump’s comments about attorneys and court staffers, writing that it applied in cases where his statements “are made with the intent to materially interfere with, or to cause others to materially interfere with, counsel’s or staff’s work in this criminal case, or with the knowledge that such interference is highly likely to result.”

Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson said that ex-President Donald Trump is paranoid he will be “poisoned.”
Hutchinson’s new book, Enough, details the president’s phobia that can make dining problematic for him.
Hutchinson recently told comedian Jimmy Kimmel on his show, “[Trump] does have a very potent fear of being poisoned… So he uses and prefers the small Heinz glass ketchup bottles because he likes to hear his valet or whoever’s serving him his meal, he likes to hear the ‘pop’” when the bottle opens.
Her comments were in response to Kimmel’s reference to her testimony in front of the House committee in the investigation of the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Update: Donald Trump offered a fusillade of unfounded claims and falsehoods in his interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, who seems to have gone into the sit down with a strategy to challenge the former president on certain topics and move on at other moments.
“Why did you have this very sensitive national security defense documents, like the war plans for a strike on Iran?” Baier asked, referring to a central claim by federal prosecutors in last week’s indictment.
Trump responded, “So like every other president, I take things out, and in my case I took it out pretty much in a hurry but people packed it up and we left. I had clothing in there. For many of Donald Trump’s supporters, today is a dark day indeed: The president pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts today after being formally arrested in a Manhattan courtroom. But for those in the Qanon conspiracist movement, hope springs eternal, and “The Storm” is always just around the corner.
Ahead of Trump’s arrest, mainstream conservatives argued that it set a new precedent, opening the door to future cases against Democrats including Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton. But the Q hardliners have taken this idea much further,...

Exclusive: The furor over a Chinese spy balloon that flew over U.S. airspace has further chilled D.C.-Beijing tensions, but the entertainment industry already has been swept up in the heightened atmosphere of American hawkishness.
Hollywood studios and producers are poised to get a new level of scrutiny over their dealings with China — reflecting a bipartisan hardline toward Beijing and escalating concerns over its influence.
A little publicized provision of a recently passed defense bill restricts the U.S. government from spending funds on movies that, to gain entry into the Chinese marketplace, are altered in the face of Chinese government dictates.
The provision in the National Defense Authorization Act, approved in a bipartisan vote of Congress and signed by President Joe Biden in December, is the latest example of an increased focus on China’s role, not just in the entertainment industry but also in sports and social media.

Donald Trump is fueled by grievances. He has demonstrated time and time again that he holds grudges, and that he’ll use whatever power he has — legal, political, or *gulp* executive — to punish the people he feels have wronged him. It’s shaping up to be a bloodbath if he wins his third bid for the White House in 2024.

One case that House Republicans are likely to ignore is Special Counsel John Durham’s probe into the Russia investigation, despite The New York Times reporting on Thursday that Durham and former Attorney General Bill Barr, who appointed him, may have abused their investigative powers in a litany of ways, including by using sketchy Russian intelligence to gain access to the emails of an...

Former Attorney General William Barr has been subpoenaed in Dominion Voting Systems’ 1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News, brought by the election systems company last year against the network over claims that the company rigged the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Barr has given deposition testimony to the January 6th Committee in which he said that the claims of election fraud were without merit.
In its lawsuit, Dominion contends that Fox News personalities and guests continued to amplify election fraud claims even after elections officials and Barr said that there was no evidence of widespread fraud. Barr told the Associated Press on Dec. 1, 2020 that they had not seen “anything to substantiate” allegations that election machines were programmed “essentially to skew the election results.”
Barr’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

When Donald Trump is asked about the January 6th attack on the Capitol in Alex Holder’s Discovery+ docuseries Unprecedented, he both downplays the insurrection and affirms the mob’s madness.
“Well, it was a sad day, but it was a day with great anger in our country,” Trump says, a couple months after the attack.
In their interviews, Trump’s children decline to comment on that day.
So too, does Vice President Mike Pence, albeit he has one of the most candid moments of the docuseries. About to sit for an interview six days after the siege, Pence is shown an email with the Democrats’ resolution that he invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. “Yeah, excellent,” Pence says to an aide. “Tell Zach to print me off a hard copy for the trip home.” But Pence doesn’t elaborate, and instead goes into robotic talking points.

Updated, with latest: A number of lawmakers, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fl) and Rep. Mo Brooks (R-al), sought presidential pardons after January 6th, according to testimony before the committee’s hearing on Thursday.

Update: At one point after the election, as he made wild and false allegations of voter fraud, Rudy Giuliani accused election worker Wandrea ArShaye Moss of handing her mom, Ruby Freeman, of passing around a Usb drive full of votes. Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr has been making the media rounds of late, and in several of these interviews, he’s suggested that former President Donald Trump would not listen to anyone and “went off the rails” following the 2020 election. It probably shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, then, that in 2018 Trump’s Justice Department secretly subpoenaed Apple for Schiff’s data as part of a leak investigation, The New York Times reported Thursday night.

Updated, with Trump statement: Facebook said on Friday that Donald Trump would be suspended until at least January 7, 2023, concluding that the former president’s actions warranted “the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols.”
“We are suspending his accounts for two years, effective from the date of the initial suspension on January 7 this year,” Nick Clegg, the company’s VP of global affairs, said in a blog post.
The company’s Oversight Board last month upheld Trump’s suspension from the platform, but found fault with Facebook for imposing an “indeterminate and standardless penalty of indefinite suspension.” They recommended that Facebook review its decision.
“We are today announcing new enforcement protocols to be applied in exceptional cases such as this, and we are confirming the time-bound penalty consistent with those protocols which we are applying to Mr. Trump’s accounts,” Clegg wrote. “Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr.

Donald Trump’s office has ended a blog from the former president, less than a month after its launch as part of an effort to counter his suspension from platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
A spokesperson for Trump, Jason Miller, confirmed that the “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump” page would not be returning and told CNBC that it was just “auxiliary to the broader efforts we have and are working on.”
Unveiled last month, the webpage was not groundbreaking, but it did initially offer a function for readers to share his postings on their own social media accounts. Although some billed it as Trump’s new communications platform, Miller said that it merely was “a great resource to find his latest statements and highlights from his first term in office.”

Update, 3:53 Pm Pt: Joe Biden told reporters Friday that it was “simply wrong” and that he would not let the Justice Department seize phone or email records from reporters during his tenure.
Biden told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins that the practice was “absolutely, positively, it’s wrong. It’s simply, simply wrong.”
“I will not let that happen,” Biden said.
CNN’s Wolf Blitzer responded, “That is really encouraging news, especially those of us, we are all biased,” referring to concerns among journalists that such actions stifle the reporting process.
CNN reported on Thursday that its Pentagon correspondent, Barbara Starr, was informed that during the Trump administration, prosecutors had secretly obtained her phone records, presumably as part of a leak investigation. The Washington Post reported recently that three of its journalists also had their phone records for that year also seized.

Former president Donald Trump was so convinced that the radical left and antifa posed a domestic threat to the country, he drew law enforcement resources away from focusing on violent groups on the far-right.
“The United States of America will be designating Antifa as a Terrorist Organization,” Trump tweeted in May of 2020. Right around that same time, according to reporting from the New York Times’ Adam Goldman, Katie Benner and Zolan Kanno-Youngs, the Justice Department began reassigning federal prosecutors and FBI agents from investigating white supremacists to investigating anarchists and antifa,...

Donald Trump, making his first public appearance since the siege on the Capitol, told reporters that his speech beforehand was “totally appropriate.”
“If you read my speech — many people have done it, and I have seen it in the papers and the media, on television. It has been analyzed, and people thought that what I said was totally appropriate,” Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews.
Trump has been blamed for inciting the riots, by Democrats and even a number of Republicans. His former attorney general, William Barr, said that Trump’s conduct was a “betrayal of his office and supporters” and that “orchestrating a mob to pressure Congress is inexcusable.”
The House is expected to vote on an article of impeachment on Wednesday, charging the president with inciting an insurrection.

Former Attorney General William Barr said that President Donald Trump’s conduct in advance of a mob siege of the Capitol was a “betrayal of his office and supporters.”
According to a statement to the Associated Press, Barr said that “orchestrating a mob to pressure Congress is inexcusable.”
Barr resigned last month, and was replaced by Jeffrey Rosen, who is serving as acting attorney general. Before he stepped down, Barr said that the Justice Department had found no evidence of widespread election fraud that would have changed the outcome of the presidential election, even as Trump has continued to push false claims.
In June, in the midst of Black Lives Matter protests, Barr appeared in Lafayette Square Park in advance of the clearing of demonstrators from the area. Trump then staged a photo op in front of a church. Barr later denied that he gave the order to clear the demonstrators,...

President-elect Joe Biden gave a sobering year-end message, particularly about the challenges remaining in the Covid-19 crisis and in the impact of the massive cyberattack on U.S. government agencies.
Biden said that there was hope with a new vaccine, which he received on Monday, but that the virus is still raging out of control, with more than 3,000 deaths per day.
“Here is the simple truth: Our darkest days in the battle against covid are ahead of us, not behind us. So we need to prepare ourselves, to steel our spines. As frustrating as it is to hear, it’s going to take patience, persistence and determination to beat this virus.”
The major news networks and NBC and ABC carried the remarks. CBS streamed the remarks on Cbsn.

Ana Navarro came out of the gate with a lot of criticisms for McConnell.

In a world where a 'swamp' endorsed news media, oozes out a false narrative about a presidential victory Before final election tallies can be certified, US President Trump's legal team has filed lawsuits, backed by court evidence, alleging massive voter fraud across America, with US Attorney General William Barr authorizing federal prosecutors to pursue substantial allegations of voting irregularities:

Donald Trump’s loss to Joe Biden was a fitting denouement to a presidency replete with hateful policy, deliberate neglect, and slothful governance. The vote count looked good for Trump on Election Day, in part because he’d discouraged his own supporters from using the postal service he’d sabotaged to mail in their ballots. As the count went on, Biden benefited, and Trump behaved as if math was magical.
Trump didn’t see the punch coming, or acted like he didn’t, because he was fighting an opponent he didn’t see.
