Charmaine Bingwa is a Zimbabwean-Australian actor and writer. She is best known for her powerful turn as Carmen Moyo on The Good Fight (2017), and for starring opposite Will Smith as Dodienne in Antoine Fuqua's Emancipation (2022). She reunited with Antoine Fuqua for the historical epic King Shaka (2023). She won the Heath Ledger Scholarship (2018), awarded for exceptional talent and craft, and an Equity Atlantic Award winner with a Sydney Theatre Award nomination to her name.

Her screen credits also include winner of the Jury Award at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Netflix's Trees of Peace (2021) and the Sundance-selected Black Box (2020).

Bingwa's performances are marked by precision, courage, and emotional fluency - she moves fluidly between vulnerability and command, inhabiting roles with rare specificity.

Of her Good Fight casting, creators Michelle and Robert King said "We are thrilled that Charmaine is bringing her enormous talents to The Good Fight ensemble. The moment that we saw her audition, we knew that we had found our Carmen, and we can't wait to start writing for her in Season 5."

Charmaine made history becoming the first person of color to be awarded the Heath Ledger Scholarship in its 10 year duration. The judging panel included Oscar-winner Matt Damon, Naomi Watts, Elizabeth Debicki, Rose Byrne, Carmen Cuba and Jeremy Podeswa. Elizabeth Debicki commented "in the end, Charmaine's final audition, which showcased her raw and vivid talent, absolutely blew me and my fellow judges away." Naomi Watts also praised her saying, "we were all incredibly moved by her performance in her final audition and can't wait to follow her career."

Charmaine's performances ripple with truth and soul. She is proud to bring her whole self to her work; as echoed by Deadline Hollywood, "Charmaine Bingwa represents a new wave of LGBTQ People of Color in Hollywood."

An accomplished theatre performer, she starred in 5 different productions in 2017 and has collaborated with high caliber playwrights such as John Patrick Shanley. Critics have praised the quality of her performances saying, "a rivetingly poignant delivery... so finely calibrated its elevated to unforgettable status." Brad Syke, Buzz From Sydney. (Doubt: A Parable, 22 May 2017)

A true multi-hypenate, she also starred, wrote, produced & directed the series Little Sista, winner of Best Screenplay at the LGBT Toronto Film Festival and included in over 15 festivals including Web Series Festival Global, Out Web Fest LA and Melbourne Web Fest.

She also received critical reception for her writing on Stille Nacht, which premiered at Academy© Qualifying and BAFTA recognized film festival Flickerfest. Her latest directorial work In the Shadows (2019) was selected to be part of APRA AMCOS' Screen SongHubs 2019 and premiered at the Academy© Qualifying St. Kilda Film Festival.

Multi-talented, she also sings and plays guitar and has supported international artists like Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony and Rachel Platten on their shows down under.

She holds a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Commerce.
