Arrow Fan Favorite Katie Cassidy to Star in New Psychological Thriller
Image
Katie Cassidy, known for her role in the popular CW show Arrow, has been cast in Jenni "JWoww" Farley's upcoming film.

Cassidy can be most easily recognized as Arrow fan favorite Laurel Lance / Black Canary. Per Variety, Cassidy has been cast as the lead in the upcoming psychological thriller Nanny Cam. This will be the second film by Farley of Jersey Shore fame, the first being Devon, released in 2024. The found footage horror movie starred Lauren Carlin, Steven Etienne, and Rotisha Geter.

'I Had a Short Fuse': Stephen Amell Reflects on the Struggles of Shooting Arrow
Image
Arrowstar Stephen Amell recently opened up about the struggles he faced while filming the popular CW series. He also shared his early experiences interacting with fans online.

Amell played billionaire playboy turned vigilante Oliver Queen in all eight seasons of the show that launched the Arrowverse for The CW, and while the role skyrocketed him to fame, it wasn’t all positive experiences for Amell. Speaking with Variety, he described his experience as like being “shot out of a cannon” and admitted that he never really enjoyed shooting 10 months out of the year - despite being extremely grateful for Arrow. “The first two or three years of Arrow, I was gripping so tight. I was white-knuckling it,” Amell said, speaking about what he learned from the show.

'They Were So Happy Over There': Arrow Stars Agree on Their Favorite Arrowverse Crossover
Image
Arrow stars Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey have revealed their favorite Arrowverse crossover. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, The CW series spawned a universe of interconnected shows, including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman, with Supergirl and Black Lightning eventually joining the fold.

Rickards and Ramsey were at Megacon, where the pair responded to Cbr's question regarding which show they most enjoyed crossing over with the most. "I liked going to The Flash because they were so happy over there," Rickards said. Ramsey discussed the difficult logistics and problems with tonality that came with making The Flash and Arrow crossovers happen but still enjoyed them. He especially enjoyed seeing Amell in Grant Gustin's Flash suit. "They were logistical nightmares," he said. "The Flash was on the other side of the wall and couldn't be more different. It was bright and had milkshakes. Stephen in the Flash suit.

'I Thought It Was Me': Arrow's Mystery Grave Season Had All of the Cast Afraid They Were Getting Killed Off

Arrow aired on The CW for 8 seasons, 170 episodes, and launched a TV universe that spanned across eight different shows. The first episode of Arrow’s Season 4 features Oliver Queen standing over an unknown grave, and whose it was, wouldn’t be revealed for months –not even to the cast.

Speaking at a panel at Megacon Orlando, per Cbr, Willa Holland, who played Thea Queen – as well as her superhero alter ego, Speedy – described the general air of mystery and anxiety surrounding the season four reveal. "At the end of this episode in the season, Oliver was standing over a grave and no one knew who it was," Holland said. "We didn’t know until 6 months later. What If...? Season 3 Concept Art Highlights Spider-Man And Ghost Rider Variants That Didn't Get An Episode
Image
What If...?'s third and final season received a mixed response from fans and didn't exactly conclude the animated series in a way that left people wanting more.

Interestingly, we did get a last-minute sequence showcasing all manner of Variants that failed to make the cut. Among them were a Maestro-like Hulk, Thanos-erine (the Mad Titan x Wolverine), an Ironheart Punisher, a samurai Ghost Rider, and six-armed Spider-Man.

The latter two are highlighted in newly released concept art shared by Joey Vazquez on X.

Spider-Man is complicated given the character's ties to Sony Pictures (it still feels like a miracle that we even got to see Peter Parker in What If...? season 1's "Marvel Zombies" episode). Why didn't this badass Ghost Rider make the cut? After all, we know the rights to the anti-hero returned to Marvel Studios several years ago.

It's probably because Marvel Studios wants to put its...

‘What If…?’ Writer A.C. Bradley Lost Her Home in the L.A. Fires. Now She Faces Her Own ‘What If…?’ Moments With Young Daughter
Image
“Today is an okay day,” says A.C. Bradley.

That might seem like an overstatement from a woman who just lost her Altadena home and has only two suitcases to her name. But right now, her focus, literally and figuratively, is on her three-and-a-half year old daughter, Adelia.

Bradley is known in Hollywood circles as the head writer of Marvel Studios’ What If…? animated series for two of its three seasons, and for working on the company’s Ms. Marvel show. She’s speaking by phone with The Hollywood Reporter while standing in the guest house of fellow writer and friend Joe Henderson, who lives in Los Angeles’ Studio City neighborhood. It’s her home for the time being, and she knows she is lucky to have a place to stay.

Bradley watches from a distance as Henderson and his kids play with Adelia in the yard, giving her a moment...

What If...?'s Final Episode Might Have Introduced The McU's Most Dangerous Deadpool Variant
Image
What If...? has been and gone and, judging by the reaction to the final season, there won't be many fans clamouring for Marvel Animation to continue exploring the Multiverse.

One of the biggest points of contention has been the show's shift from exploring alternate realities to essentially asking, "What if this character was that one instead?" A final montage as the series ends is exactly that - Thanos with Wolverine claws! - but there's one Vartiant, in particular, who has grabbed everyone's attention.

That's a version of Deadpool who appears to have countless weapons strapped to his back; the prevailing theory is that this could be the Merc with the Mouth from the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe reality.

We don't anticipate the storyline ever being adapted by Marvel Studios (unfortunately) but what an episode this could've made. Still, who wants to see Deadpool taking out The Avengers one-by-one when...

Fired X-Men '97 writer publicly rags on What If...? season 3, guy who's replacing him
Image
Yesterday, the third and final season of What If...? — the Disney+ animated drama about how the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be different had this or that plot twist happened another way — came to an end. Hopefully the fans enjoyed it.

One person who did not like what he saw was Beau DeMayo, the former showrunner behind X-Men '97, another animated Marvel series. "#whatif season 3 yikes just yikes," he posted on X/Twitter. "I’d watch more to give notes on how it could’ve easily been done better but I have some water to watch boil."

That is a harsh public assessment from someone who used to work for the company, and DeMayo didn't stop there, writing that What If...? season 3 "has no substance and feels like fanfic. The dialogue is flat and so obvious, and some of the premises are just weird." He called the new season "the worst kind" of show: "Mediocre.

What If...? Season 3 Finale Images Reveal Cameos From Apocalypse, Sabretooth, And More X-men Variants
Image
In the season 3/series finale of What If...?, Uatu joins forces with the Exiles - Captain Carter, Kahhori, Byrdie, and Storm - to battle a trio of villainous Watchers named the Eminence, Incarnate, and Executioner.

The trio overpowers the heroes and, in the process of attempting to wipe them from every reality, several of their respective Variants can be seen briefly on screen.

Thanks to @Cryptic4KQual, we now have some hi-res screenshots showcasing some of those characters. There's a Storm who became Black Panther, for example, along with a Byrdie who appears in both duck form and as a member of the Nova Corps.

Kahhori is particularly interesting as there are Apocalypse, Captain America, and X-Men Variants of the Native American superhero who was created specifically for What If...? In Captain Carter's case, we see Sabretooth, Elektra, Deathlok, and Valkyrie.

Somewhere along the line, it seems What If.

X-Men '97 Creator Beau DeMayo Slams Marvel's What If...? Season 3
Image
Marvel's "What If...?" premiered in 2021 and its innovative remixes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe status quo became consistent bright spots during an otherwise difficult time for the franchise. While season 1 of the Disney+ animated Marvel multiverse show combined its stylish animation with rushed storytelling, season 2 was a zany, refreshing addition to the MCU, and both seasons wound up receiving very good reviews on the whole.

"What If...?" season 3 started dropping daily episodes on December 22, 2024, and concluded a week later on December 29, and while critics haven't embraced it quite as lovingly as they did its predecessors, it's still an entertaining watch ... that is, unless you ask Beau DeMayo. The former "X-Men '97" showrunner took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share his grievances about "What If...?" season 3, and his short review made it clear that he's not exactly a fan:

"#whatif season 3 yikes just yikes"

In another tweet, DeMayo took more time to elaborate.

Beau DeMayo Tears Into What If...? And Season 3 Writer Who Will Soon Take Charge Of X-men '97
Image
Based on What If...? season 3's Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes and comments on this website, the show's final batch of episodes has disappointed the majority of fans.

Matthew Chauncey, who wrote several season 1 and 2 episodes, took over from A.C. Bradley as Head Writer for What If...?'s last year and is next set to serve in that same showrunner role for X-Men '97 season 3.

Beau DeMayo was in charge of X-Men '97's first season but parted ways with Marvel Studios in murky circumstances; there have been allegations of sexual misconduct which he's strongly denied by claiming he was a victim of a racist and homophobic working environment.

Whatever the case may be, DeMayo has some strong opinions about What If...? season 3. He started by sharing a negative review of the series before making his issues with Chauncey known.

He also suggested that claims the X-Men couldn't appear in the series were false.

Former 'X-Men '97' Writer Beau DeMayo Blasts McU's 'What If...?' Season 3
Image
What If...? Season 3 has been a festive treat for many MCU fans, delivering the final installment of the animated series with new episodes releasing on Disney+ daily from December 22. The new season has seen a more divided set of reviews from both critics and audiences, but perhaps its most scathing review has come from former Marvel Studios showrunner Beau DeMayo.

DeMayo was the creative force behind Season 1 of X-Men ’97 before he was unexpectedly dismissed by Marvel Studios just ahead of the show’s debut, and now he has publicly criticized their latest season of What If…? expressing his disapproval through a series of candid posts on social media.

In his initial reaction, DeMayo took to X/Twitter and delivered a very short, frank assessment of the new episodes. He wrote, “#whatif season 3 yikes just yikes." While his opinions came before the series completes its run, DeMayo made it clear...

What If...? Season 3 Finale Spoilers: Here's A Closer Look At All Those Crazy Multiversal Variants
Image
In today's season 3/series finale of What If...?, Captain Carter makes the ultimate sacrifice (a decision which has upset many fans) and Uatu's story ends with him continuing to watch over the Multiverse.

There was no post-credits scene and nothing to suggest there are now live-action plans for The Watcher. However, the show ended with a montage of Variants who we may or may not get to see on screen somewhere down the line.

One we recognised instantly: the Moon Knight/Blade mashup who will appear in the upcoming Marvel Zombies animated TV series. Are there plans for the rest? We suppose the Jubilee/Silver Surfer combination could show up in X-Men '97 season 2; however, there's been speculation on social media about What If...? being followed by an Exiles series featuring these characters.

Other highlights include a duck Variant of the Scarlet Witch, a Maestro-like Hulk, Thanos-erine, a samurai Ghost Rider,...

“I have some water to watch boil”: X-Men ‘97 Creator Declares War on MCU With The Most Brutal Review for Mediocre ‘What If…?’ Season 3

Beau DeMayo thinks Marvel did a bad job with the new season of What If…?. The X-Men ’97 creator, who was earlier pushed out from the franchise, didn’t even bother to pinpoint what went wrong with What If…? Season 3. A general consensus among critics and audiences suggested that the third season is proving to be an underwhelming conclusion to one of the Marvel Multiverse Saga’s best ideas.

DeMayo and Marvel Studios do not share a great relationship after the studio fired him from X-Men ’97 over egregious findings against him during an internal investigation. The studio’s explanation for his firing came after DeMayo took to his socials to accuse Marvel of unreasonably removing him from the writing credits of X-Men ’97 Season 2.

‘What If…?’ Season 3: Director’s Wish for Wolverine Cameo Left Unfulfilled: “I think we were kicking ourselves”
Image
‘What If…?’ Season 3 is airing its final episodes. Eight episodes are coming out over eight days, just like last year. Many popular characters are back, played by the same actors from the MCU. This includes Jeffrey Wright as the Watcher, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector/Moon Knight, Kathryn Hahn as Agatha Harkness, and more.

A new character this season is Storm. The creators said that if they knew X-Men characters were available, they would have made them a bigger part of the story.

In an interview with ‘Agents of Fandom,’ Season 3 director Bryan Andrews said he would have liked to include Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine if he had known Disney owned the rights. However, it was too late to add him by then.

Andrews looked back and wished they could have included more mutants in the season.

‘What If…?’ Season 3 is currently airing its final season. Eight episodes are being released over the course of eight days, just like last year. What If...?'s Howard The Duck Episode Featured The Animated Debut Of Two Daredevil Characters - Spoilers
Image
What If...?'s third season has largely shifted the spotlight to characters from Phases 4 and 5. Much has changed since the animated series first went into development, of course, including Daredevil's long-awaited MCU debut.

While we won't get an episode putting the Man Without Fear from and centre, Matt Murdock was spotted in yesterday's "What If... Howard The Duck Got Hitched?"

Alongside Karen Page, he could be seen at The Grandmaster's breakfast where the Thor: Ragnarok villain intended to serve Howard the Duck and Darcy Lewis' egg aboard his cruise ship. In this reality, Matt and Karen were clearly on the guest list and eager to dine on this culinary delight.

Some fans have speculated that this might be Scott Summers/Cyclops and Jean Grey, especially with a Variant of X-Men '97's Storm set to factor into an upcoming episode of What If...? It's a nice theory, though...

What If...? "The Red Guardian Stopped The Winter Soldier?" Spoiler Recap: Goliath, Civil War Undone, And More
Image
The third episode of What If...? season 3 begins by showing us some familiar security footage from Captain America: Civil War in which The Winter Soldier murdered Howard and Maria Stark. However, in this reality, Bucky Barnes is busy fighting...Red Guardian?!

Exploring how we reached that point, it's revealed that Dreykov wants to send Red Guardian to Ohio where he'll be forced to go undercover as a data analyst. He's not keen on the idea and wishes to prove himself, especially with the Red Room relying on The Winter Soldier more often.

They both travel to America; Alexei Shostakov is in economy class and Bucky is dropped into the country by his superiors. Red Guardian interrupts The Winter Soldier's mission and stops him from killing the Starks; as the police close in, both men are forced to flee but with only one dose of Super Soldier Serum left, Bucky has failed his mission.

What If...? Showrunner Teases 'Weird Serendipity' Between Red Guardian Episode and Thunderbolts*
Image
Two Thunderbolts* stars are getting a team up early in What If...?'s final season, though it wasn't entirely by design.

Speaking with ScreenRant about season 3's episodes, director Bryan Andrews broke down What If...?'s upcoming Winter Soldier/Red Guardian storyline and why it took so long for this episode to drop. Originally, he explained, it was "supposed to be in season 2, and it got moved to season 3 late in the game because there was another episode that got done early. Brad [Winderbaum] wanted to swap them out for a reason, and he was like, 'It's going to be great.' Which is hilarious because now it's creating this weird serendipity with the Thunderbolts* coming up."

What If…? Season 3 TV Review: Marvel Studios’ ambitious animated anthology comes to a thrilling conclusion

Plot: Marvel’s animated series “What If…?” returns in Season 3 for its culminating adventure through the multiverse. The series features an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles.

Review: When Marvel Studios announced an animated anthology series based on the What If…? line of comic books, the potential to explore different angles and twists on the same storyline seen on the big screen was almost too good to be true. The crux of the comic book is always the opportunity to see what would happen if a character made an alternate choice. Marvel TV Boss Says There Were "Bigger Universe Reasons" To End 'What If...' With Season 3

Marvel Studios' TV arm has been a mixed bag of huge successes and catastrophic lows. One of the former is the wildly inventive animated show What If...?, which ushered in a new era of the multiverse. What If...? Season 3 Episode Descriptions Reveal Surprising Plans For Mysterio And Tease Game-Changing Finale
Image
What If...? returns with its third and final season this weekend and Marvel Animation has today shared the episode descriptions and credits for every episode.

There are some significant reveals here, though the biggest is Mysterio's role in "What If...The Emergence destroyed the Earth?" With the planet no more, it appears Quentin Beck finds a way to take charge of what's left; could a Spider-Man: Far From Home retcon be in the works establishing him as a Multiversal threat?

We wouldn't bank on it but in this reality, he must have survived the events of that movie and become more than just a con man out to steal Tony Stark's technology.

Beyond that, most of these episodes sound like fun, throwaway adventures and a couple really stretch the "What If...?" premise. However, the final two episodes sound pretty monumental and could have a major impact on the...

‘What if…?’ Season 3 Episode Titles Reveal the Multiversal Madnesss That's in Store on Disney+
Image
The MCU is just a week away from dropping its third show of 2024 with season 3 of What If...?. The animated series set in an alternate timeline tells a series of fantastical, character-swapped stories through the eyes of The Watcher (Jeffrey Wright). Seasons 1 and 2 were big hits for Marvel, as they brought back fan favorites like Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) and Ultron (James Spader), and adapted fan favorite comic book story lines like Marvel Zombies. Season 3 is right around the corner, and Marvel Studios have just revealed the new episode titles, teasing what fans can expect.

Episode titles are a lost art in the age of streaming, as audiences binge-watch their way through content, not paying attention to the tiny title card that appears in the top corner. But, What If...?'s episode titles are more than metaphorical and thematic teases; they overtly tell you what each episode is about.

What If...? Season 3 Episode Titles Reveal Some Unexpected Surprises And A Wild New Take On Eternals
Image
The third and final season of Marvel Animation's What If...? premieres on Disney+ one week from today and we finally have a list of confirmed episode titles.

Some reveal nothing - what the heck is the finale, "What If... What If?", going to be? - but others provide a clearer idea of what's in store for us with this next batch of episodes. For example, "What If... The Hulk Fought The Mech Avengers?" suggests that kaiju shown in the trailers is a new monstrous Variant of the Green Goliath.

Agatha Harkness, meanwhile, is heading to Hollywood and Red Guardian will do battle with The Winter Soldier, likely decades ago in their respective pasts. As for Christmas Day's "What If... Howard Got Hitched?", it sounds like he and Darcy Lewis will tie the knot.

Howard the Duck's wedding isn't what we expected from this series but things will get a...

What If...? Season 3 TV Spot Unleashes Storm And Teases New Variants Of Thanos, White Vision, And More
Image
Disney's approach to marketing Marvel Animation's streaming offering often makes them feel like something of an afterthought - the first What If...? season 3 trailer was only released a month ago - but the hype is slowly building for the Multiversal series.

In this latest 30-second sneak peek, we hear Storm speak (X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97 star Alison Sealy-Smith reprises the role here) as several new Variants are teased.

Among them are Thanos, White Vision, Kingo, Shang-Chi, and more. We were told a while ago that the series would start throwing Phase 5 characters into the mix and Marvel Studios has made good on that promise.

Also of note is the fact we get to hear those other Watchers talk; will Uatu be forced to pay for his role in assembling the Guardians of the Multiverse and his continued interference? If so, here's hoping that story continues into Avengers: Doomsday.

What If...? Season 3 Clip Shows The Mech Avengers Preparing To Battle A Giant "Apex" Kaiju
Image
What If...? returns with its third and final season this month and the first clip from the show has just been released. In that, we see Captain America (Sam Wilson) and Monica Rambeau piloting massive Mech-Avengers.

The heroes are shown watching an "Apex" Kaiju leading an army of monsters into the ocean. A recently released promo confirmed that several of these heroic robots will assemble into a massive "Avenger" for an epic battle which feels very Power Rangers-inspired.

What If...? will be an interesting series to look back on once the Multiverse Saga ends; what was once a show meant to explore alternate realities where one decision changed everything has become an excuse to tell some pretty wacky stories.

Still, we'd be lying to say this sneak peek isn't a lot of fun!

A handful of reactions from this launch event are circulating on social media but critics in...

What If...? Season 3 Trailer Sees Storm Wield Mjolnir As Spider-man: Far From Home Villain Mysterio Returns
Image
The third and final season of What If...? is fast approaching, and Marvel Studios has just shared a new teaser offering a better idea of what's to come later this month.

While a lot of this preview is devoted to previous episodes - as a way of encouraging fans to go back and watch them - we also see plenty of intriguing season 3 footage. That includes Storm wielding Thor's hammer Mjolnir, the return of Mysterio, and Red Guardian assembling alongside The Avengers.

We still don't know whether What If...? will finally tie into the wider Multiverse Saga with this final season, though we'd imagine Marvel Animation will do something to at least tease what's to come in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Well, hopefully.

"What If...? season 3 feels like the completion of a trilogy," Marvel Studios' Head of Marvel Streaming, Television and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, recently revealed. "It...

Since it first premiered in August 2021, the creators of Marvel Animation's What If...? have confirmed a number of episode pitches that unfortunately didn't get included in the popular MCU multiverse series. Jeffrey Wright made his MCU debut in What If...? season 1 as the voice of the Watcher, an enigmatic cosmic being who watches over and narrates alternate versions of classic MCU stories. What If...? was an instant hit for Marvel Studios, and its popularity increased with 2023's season 2, but the series is disappointingly ending after What If...? season 3.

What If...?'s three seasons have delivered some brilliant twists on well-known MCU stories, and have introduced a plethora of exciting variants to the MCU. Audiences have seen Peggy Carter become a super soldier, Doctor Strange become a villain, Ultron acquire the Infinity Stones, Happy Hogan become a Hulk and the Tesseract empower a new Native American hero, among many other stories.

What If...? Season 3 Adds Natasha Lyonne In Superhero Role - Is This Who She'll Play In The Fantastic Four?
Image
Marvel Studios has assembled one of its best ensembles yet for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Led by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the supporting cast includes names like Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne.

We don't know who the latter is playing, though fans have speculated that the Russian Doll star could be everyone from Alicia Masters to the voice of H.E.R.B.I.E.

What we didn't expect was for Lyonne to join the cast of What If...? season 3 as a newly created superhero. Disney's press site has confirmed she's playing Byrdie, an original character who is shown flying into action alongside Captain Carter and Kahhori in the officially released still below.

The only character from the comics we can find with a similar name is Birdy, a mutant ally of Sabretooth who doesn't have wings...

‘What If…?’ Season 3 Trailer: A Wackier MCU Multiverse Finishes Off the Animated Series with Greater Spectacle
Image
Marvel has dropped the trailer for the third and final season of its animated anthology series “What If…?”, spotlighting more humor and spectacle. The alternate multiverse, led by a host of new characters, gets pushed to wacky extremes through the exploration of different genres.

One of the standouts is X-Men’s Storm as the self-proclaimed Goddess of Thunder, voiced by Alison Sealy-Smith, who played Storm in Disney+ series “X-Men ’97” and the original 1990s “X-Men” cartoon series. She’s a bit of a change of pace from Howard the Duck (voiced by Seth Green), who is back for a final flight.

Other characters mutating their way into Season 3 include Captain America/Sam Wilson, The Winter Soldier/Bucky Barnes, Hulk/Bruce Banner, The Red Guardian, Captain Peggy Carter, Agatha Harkness, and Shang-Chi. Plus, Jeffrey Wright’s omniscient Watcher returns as narrator. There are hints of Red Guardians and mechs, a Western and musical comedy.
