Jorrit Smink (Amsterdam, 1976) always worked as a writer and a journalist before switching to the movie industrie. He wrote six books, before debuting with Spanish spoken Lo Siento Laura as his first movie in 2016 in Chile. Smink studied Human Geography at the University of Amsterdam for four years, but chose to work for Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool before graduating. There he wrote for the sports section, until he emigrated to Chile in 2006. After working on many writing projects, Smink set up production company Ahora Si in 2015.
Personal life Smink married Carolina Farias in 2006. They divorced in 2010. With Carolina, he has one daughter: Emily (November 15, 2006).
