Reza Shad created his first short film titled "Blood" in 2013. From 2015 to 2016, he crafted several experimental films. The experimental short film "Six" received positive feedback at the Fifth Independent Sun Film Festival. «Mohammad Reza Aslani», the head of the jury, recognized for his distinguished career, provided a unique perspective among Iranian filmmakers.
Following that, he created the experimental short film "None" and later produced "Portrait," a film with a distinctive form and structure for Reza Shad, showcasing new experiences.
The films "None" and "Portrait" reached the semifinals of the 39th Alcine Short Film Festival in Spain in the same year.
Afterward, he entered the realm of storytelling with the short film "The water carry us" depicting an elderly man taking an unusual action after a disturbing dream, causing concern in his family and community. The production of this short film took place in 2018.
Reza Shad gained a new experience with the short film "At his eight," entering the Tehran Short Film Festival and subsequently participating in international festivals in France and other locations.
Following "At his eight," he created the short film "Descent," a profound and sensitive work narrating the story of a couple facing a deep rift after a harrowing incident.
In his portfolio, Reza Shad also has experience in documentary filmmaking. His documentary "A report about killing" of September 2023, depicting the killing of Mahsa Amini and the nationwide protests in Iran, was screened at the Can Film Festival Palace and presented at the Film Festival in Linz, Austria.
Some of Reza Shad's social documentaries have been broadcast on Voice of America and Iran International networks.
