"We've decided that we need to make a change." AGC Studios + Catchlight Studios have revealed an official UK trailer for a kooky time travel comedy about a family called The Present, opening first in the UK in May this summer. Strangely his has no US date set yet, despite being a US film that should be on streaming by now. A brilliant boy discovers that he can manipulate time using a family heirloom - an old grandfather clock. He soon team up his siblings in returning to the time of their parents' separation from their in hopes of changing the outcome and stopping them from divorcing. Oh boy, this sounds a bit awkward. Actors Isla Fisher & Greg Kinnear star as the parents, with a cast including Ryan Guzman, Shay Rudolph, Amir Talai, Alphonso McAuley, Easton Rocket Sweda, Sarah Jane MacKay, & Mason Shea Joyce, with Eric Tiede. This looks really cheesy,...

Could “The Baby-Sitters Club” be making a comeback? The series was canceled by Netflix after two seasons earlier this year in March, and talk has swirled since about the series being shopped for a revival — or at least a TV movie — elsewhere.
But now there’s a bit more momentum for the show: “The Baby-Sitters Club” won two awards at the Children & Family Emmys this weekend, for both outstanding writing for a live action preschool or children’s program and outstanding children’s or family viewing series.
“We’re talking about it in a very preliminary way, talking about if we can bring it somewhere else. Or if we could do maybe like a movie, like kind of a wrap up special,” executive producer Rachel Shukert told Variety. “The girls obviously are older now than they were when we started and they’ve really grown up. The Baby-Sitters Club is closing down. Netflix will not be ordering a third season of the family comedy-drama series based on the best-selling novels by Ann M. Martin.

If you were worried that Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop wouldn’t be as cool or as stylish as the original… stop worrying.
The streamer has offered us our first look at the reboot — premiering Friday, Nov. 19 — in the form of a new promo dubbed “The Lost Session,” which consists of specially created footage that won’t be seen in the series. Still, it’s a chance to see intergalactic bounty hunters/”cowboys” Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir) and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) in action… and “action” is definitely the right word for it.

Last year’s reboot of Ann M. Martin’s “The Baby-Sitters Club” was a TV highlight, not only for capturing and conveying pure delight but for giving audiences warmth and familiarity during a difficult time. It would have been easy for creator Rachel Shukert to rest on that goodwill. Instead, Season 2 of the Netflix original series is just as heartfelt, fun, and charming as Season 1 while simultaneously growing along with its characters.
In Season 1, the series already laid the foundation by creating the club itself and the central conflicts that would necessitate the club’s impact on its characters. With that being over and done with, Season 2 had two roads to take: Focus on what worked and keep the club in the forefront, or throw the club deep into the background to establish more individualized plots for the various characters. The streamer also released first-look images, featuring Season 2 cast additions Kyndra Sanchez, Vivian Watson, and Anais Lee.
Sanchez is replacing Xochitl Gomez, who portrayed Dawn Schafer in Season 1, but who departed due to scheduling conflicts connected to her participation in Doctor Strange 2. Gomez will star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of teen superhero America Chavez.
Vivian Watson and Anais Lee will portray junior babysitters and best friends Mallory Pike and Jessi Ramsey.
Mallory and Jessi‘s characters were introduced in the Season 1 finale, but they will be fully welcomed into the Baby-Sitters Club in Season 2.

Netflix announced the second season of “The Baby-Sitters Club” will premiere on Oct. 11.
“The Baby-Sitters Club,” based on the best-selling book series of the same name by Ann M. Martin, follows a group of friends as they start a baby-sitting business in Stoneybrook, Conn. As they juggle their new responsibilities as local caregivers, they also face friendship challenges with each other, various pressures from their home lives and unique situations that include diabetes (for Stacey), an absentee father (for Kristy) and parents who are dating each other (for Mary Ann and Dawn).
“In Season 2, we really get to see a maturation of the club and of the girls,” said creator and showrunner Rachel Shukert in a statement. “There are two new members [and] they’re all a year older and have more experience running a business, deeper friendships and are growing into a deeper understanding of themselves as people.

Finally some good news: The Baby-Sitters Club is back in business for a season two. The teenage cast revealed the renewal with a karaoke video of themselves lip-syncing to the show's theme song, "Say Hello To Your Friends," made famous by the TV series in 1990. In the clip out on Wednesday, Oct. 28, the actresses changed the lyrics from "You can always count on me and I can count on you/ Good times, bad times, in between, my friends will see me through" to be "You can always count on me and I can count on you/ Good times, bad times, in between, and we'll be getting a season two." At the end, star Shay Rudolph (who plays Stacey...

The Baby-Sitters Club reboot hit Netflix on July 3, and we're already ready for more. Luckily for us, the series was renewed for season two on Wednesday, and it's set to premiere sometime in 2021.
While Netflix has yet to release any other details, we have a lot of hope for a renewal. In case you weren't aware, by the time The Baby-Sitters Club ceased publication in 2000, there were 213 books in the series. The first season is only 10 episodes long, with each focusing on one of the members of the titular club, which means there's a wealth of untapped potential Netflix can pull from. In fact, the cast of the new series - Sophie Grace (Kristy Thomas), Malia Baker (Mary Anne Spier), Shay Rudolph (Stacey McGill), Momona Tamada (Claudia Kishi), and Xochitl Gomez (Dawn Schafer) - spoke to Popsugar about some of the things they'd like to see in a future season.

The rising tide of programming for the small screen, along with a greater push for diversity in Hollywood, has increased the number of roles for actors of color overall in recent years. And while it’s hard to pinpoint exactly how many of those gains have been made by younger performers — organizations such as SAG-AFTRA don’t tabulate that info — there are plenty of positive signs on the big and small screen.
Among them: Latinx characters on streamers; Kenya Barris series with a plethora of young Black talent; and roles for Asian-American kids on a number of platforms. Family-friendly shows such as “One Day at a Time” and “Party of Five” have been rebooted with Latinx families at their core, while Hulu’s “Love, Victor,” a small-screen spinoff of “Love, Simon,” centers on a Latinx teen’s struggles to fit into a new school. Growing up, I never saw anyone who looked like me. Not in school, not at home, and certainly not on television or in theaters. And I’m sure many people with disabilities can say the same thing. We all know the statistics, that in spite of 15 percent of the world’s population having a disability only about two percent of television and movies actually contain a disabled character. Factor in each subsequent generation before that, and two percent sounds like an improvement! All of this is to say that, as a kid, I latched on to the few characters who had anything passing for a disability, whether that was Lieutenant Dan (Gary Sinise) in “Forrest Gump” or, New York-based child baby-sitter, Stacey McGill.

When Netflix announced The Baby-Sitters Club would premiere on July 3, we couldn't have been more thrilled. Although the 10-episode series has been updated from the '90s to the present in order to tackle modern-day issues, you can still expect the adventures from Kristy Thomas (Sophie Grace), Mary Anne Spier (Malia Baker), Stacey McGill (Shay Rudolph), Claudia Kishi (Momona Tamada), and Dawn Schafer (Xochitl Gomez) that you've grown to know and love.
The first season revolves around the creation of the titular club along with the trials and tribulations the girls face within their relationships with each other, boys, and their families. One of the best things about the books and the original 1995 film adaptation is just how strong the group's dynamic is, and it seems like the newest The Baby-Sitters Club stars have taken this to heart. The group of five spoke with Popsugar ahead of the premiere about their love of the books,...

Parents looking for someone to care for their children don’t want to make a million calls to lock down a sitter. And because that sentiment is as true now as it was in the mid-1980s — when The Baby-Sitters Club books hit the scene — Netflix’s adaptation of the young adult novels feels fresh, fun and relevant.

Adapting any book to screen can be a complicated task, but when it is a book series that consists of more than 200 stories, the process seems that much more arduous. And that is exactly what Rachel Shukert, showrunner of Netflix’s “The Baby-Sitters Club,” was facing when she signed on to translate author Ann M. Martin’s classic coming-of-age franchise.
First published in 1986, “The Baby-Sitters Club” series of novels ranges from the original 131-book series about a group of teenage girls who started the titular baby-sitting club in their neighborhood to earn some extra money to subsequent spinoffs and special volumes that included almost 40 mystery titles, half a dozen in the single character “Portrait Collection” series, a turn-of-the-millennium “Friends Forever” subset, 15 “Super Special” aka super-sized novels, and a prequel. (Not to mention the graphic novels and “Little Sisters” spinoff that eventually followed.)

Kristy’s Great Idea, the first novel in Ann M. Martin’s long-running, mega-selling The Baby-Sitters Club series, was published in 1986. In it, seventh grader Kristy recruits best friend Mary-Anne, their estranged friend Claudia, and new girl Stacey to start a business to fill childcare gaps in their suburban Connecticut town. They post fliers around the neighborhood, and use Claudia’s bedroom as their headquarters, since she has a phone line in there. For a certain subset of ’90s girls, “Are you a Kristy or a Claudia?” was the original (and completely G-rated) version of “Are you a Carrie or a Samantha?” As each book of Ann M. Martin’s “Baby-Sitters Club” series focused on a different member of the club — from determined president Kristy to artsy VP Claudia to shy secretary Mary-Anne — it let readers take a peek into a tween life that could, perhaps, reflect their own. The books are straightforward and heartfelt, telling stories of smart and ambitious girls on the precipice of growing up that take great care not to condescend to them (like some of the grown-ups in their lives do by default).

This review is based of off all 10 episodes of The Baby-Sitters Club‘s first season.
The Baby-Sitters Club is more than just a book series. For many, the story is a girlhood institution. First published in 1986 to capitalize on a proven interest for books about babysitting, the would-be franchise was initially conceived as a four book series, but the kid market was hungry for more. More than 30 years later, the series started by Ann M. Martin includes 213 books (not including the spin-offs or graphic novel adaptations) and has sold more than 180 million books in print in more than 20 languages worldwide. Now, Netflix is hoping to build on that legacy with a new TV series.
For the uninitiated, The Baby-Sitters’ Club is the story of a group of enterprising tweens—Kristy (Sophie Grace), Claudia (Momona Tamada), Mary Anne (Malia Baker), and Stacey (Shay Rudolph)—who start their own babysitting club in the fictional town of Stoneybrook,...
