During Monday’s episode of “The Voice,” Gwen Stefani paired up Rose Short and Destiny Rayne for her latest Knockout. Rose (34) took on “Big White Room” while Destiny (23) performed “Tell Me You Love Me,” but only one powerhouse singer could advance to the Playoffs of Season 17. After a brief deliberation, and a little help from her boyfriend Blake Shelton, Gwen decided to keep Rose and say goodbye to Destiny. Do you think Gwen made the right decision? Taylor Swift has been keeping busy mentoring all of the remaining artists on “The Voice,” but one act stands apart for the emotional impact they’ll give the pop superstar. During this week’s final Knockout episodes (airing Monday and Tuesday on NBC), Taylor meets Hello Sunday of Team Kelly Clarkson, the remaining duo of Season 17. Comprised of Myla Finks and Chelsea Grover, ages 13 and 14, this talented twosome brings Swift to tears during their rehearsal. “I’m totally crying,” Swift tells Clarkson as she wipes tears from her eyes. “I don’t know why. This is really really great.” Watch the preview video above.

Of the four artists to be eliminated so far during “The Voice” Knockouts, fans are most outraged about Marina Chello of Team Blake Shelton. Even though her performance of “I (Who Have Nothing)” wowed all four coaches during Monday’s episode, she was ultimately cut by Blake who favored Cali Wilson‘s cover of “Wicked Game” a bit more.
In our recent poll, a whopping 78% of “Voice” fans voted that this Uzbekistan native was most robbed of a slot in the Playoffs, followed by Melinda Rodriguez (Team Kelly Clarkson) at 9%, Jessie Lawrence (Team Gwen Stefani) at 8% and James Violet (Team John Legend) at 5%. If going into Tuesday’s Knockouts on The Voice, you felt like you’d been smacked upside the head, you weren’t alone. I, too, was seeing stars — and not entirely in a good way.
During the Battles, Blake Shelton had let go Cory Jackson, a contestant who was all but laminated in star quality, in favor of the just-pleasant-enough Zach Bridges. And in Monday’s Knockouts, he’d dumped Marina Chello after she’d practically sung a lung out in favor of Cali Wilson, whose performance had been mostly pretty but somewhat uneven. I was so flummoxed, I started to think,...

Usually around this time of year, “The Voice” asks a famous face to act as a mentor for all of the artists that made it to the Knockouts. This time around, NBC’s reality TV show stepped things up by hiring a so-called mega mentor in the form of 10-time Grammy winning pop star Taylor Swift. “I didn’t realize that I was now being called a mega mentor,” Swift declared after her introduction during Monday’s episode. “That’s really gonna go straight to my head. I would like a latte right now. No one? Glass of wine?”

Monday’s episode of The Voice brought to an end Season 17’s Battles (as well as four more acts’ hopes of advancing) and kicked off the much-missed Knockouts with Taylor Swift on board as Team Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, John Legend and Gwen Stefani’s “mega mentor.” Of note — aside from my lingering irritation that Blake dumped the awesome Cory Jackson for the eh-some Zach Bridges — is the fact that the coaches have only one steal, as opposed to a steal and a save as in seasons past. Got all that? Then, as Carson Daly would say, the recap starts now.

Something tells us Blake Shelton regrets having used his “save” already on Marina Chello, because that meant he had to let go of one of his country cowboys during Tuesday’s episode of “The Voice.” Blake paired up Cory Jackson and Zach Bridges in a battle to “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” and had a tough time picking which bearded artist should advance to the Knockouts and who should be eliminated. In the end, he decided to keep Zach because his lower register was stronger than Cory’s falsetto. Do you think Blake made the right choice? Kelly Clarkson‘s team is shaping up nicely so far on Season 17 of “The Voice,” thanks in part to the strategic way in which she’s putting it together. During Monday’s episode she pitted Jake Hoot against Steve Knill in a battle to “Always on My Mind,” a song that meant a lot to her personally. While both men killed the song, Kelly decided to advance Jake since he rounded out her team nicely. Do you think Kelly made the right choice, or should she have kept Steve instead? Blake Shelton has been a coach on “The Voice” for 17 seasons now, but this is the first time he’s had a “literally awful” time picking a battle winner. During Monday’s episode of NBC’s reality TV show, the country superstar pitted 37-year-old Marina Chello against 29-year-old Ricky Duran in a battle to “Valerie.” After their near-flawless performance, Blake essentially threw his hands up in defeat and admitted, “I’m picking the winner of this battle not because I think somebody is better than the other, it’s just based off of this song.” Watch “The Voice” battle video above.

We’re only on Night 3 of The Voice’s Season 17 Battles, and already, I’m running out of gasp. Sometimes the shocks that the show has delivered have been good; for instance, Team John Legend’s Zoe Upkins turned out to be more of a bottle rocket than a mere sparkler, and coach Blake Shelton opted to keep Kat Hammock, a potential Addison Agen 2.0, over the far countrier Josie Jones. Other times, the shocks have been… er, not so good; lookin’ at you, Kelly Clarkson, for rewarding Injoy Fountain for kicking Alex Guthrie’s ass… by dumping her. What surprises...

Battles just began last week on Season 17 of “The Voice,” but coaches Kelly Clarkson and John Legend have already used their only saves of the year. Was this move too early in the process for each of these coaching champs? The other interesting early move was Gwen Stefani using her one and only steal for this season. Here is what remains for each coach:
Blake Shelton
Gwen Stefani
Kelly Clarkson
John Legend

With only one episode left of “The Voice” Season 17 blind auditions, each coach is thisclose to completing their teams. In fact, thanks to the show’s savvy editing, all four coaches — Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Gwen Stefani — currently have exactly 11 out of their 12 required artists. That means the Monday, October 14 episode will showcase the last four artists to join the coaches’ teams before we head right into the exciting battle rounds.

The Season 17 blind auditions of “The Voice” premiered Monday night on NBC, and already one coach is seemingly having a difficult time acquiring artists for his new team: Blake Shelton. No other “The Voice” coach has come close to matching Blake’s winning record — he’s mentored Six artists to victories over the years — which makes his struggles in the season premiere all the more head-scratching. So what gives?

Perhaps aspiring contestants are finally keen to the fact that since Blake is the G.O.A.T. (Greatest Of All Time), that means they’ll have difficulty shining on his team. “The Voice” voters clearly have a soft spot for the country superstar, putting more of his artists into their finales than any other coach in “Voice” history. But all that comes with a price.

Are you as excited as we are for the return of “The Voice” on Monday, September 23? Season 17 will be the first in the history of the franchise to not have Adam Levine as one of the four coaches. But don’t despair. The other veteran on the panel, Blake Shelton, has gotten his long-time love Gwen Stefani to take Adam’s place. She had been a coach on seasons 7, 9, and 12 and served as a mentor on seasons 8 and 10.
Expect plenty of sparks to fly as these lovebirds compete to convince “The Voice” contestants to join their respective teams. Also in the hunt for talent are reigning champ John Legend (he mentored season 16 winner Maelyn Jarmon) and two-time winner Kelly Clarkson.
