Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “Welcome to the Porch Pirate,” the fourth episode of “The Neighborhood” Season 4.
Meg DeLoatch, the new showrunner of “The Neighborhood,” knows there are many fans of the CBS sitcom who don’t follow the behind-the-scenes machinations or read news headlines about the show. So when she stepped in to take over the fourth season, she didn’t want to do anything that would disrupt the story that had been playing out on screen for three seasons already. But she did want to go deeper with it.
One of the biggest examples of this has already played out the fourth episode of the season: In “Welcome to the Porch Pirate,” Gemma (Beth Behrs) experiences a miscarriage and struggles to allow herself to grieve. The show does not depict the act of losing the baby, but comes in after in order to “lead with emotion,...

Meg DeLoatch has come onboard the CBS comedy “The Neighborhood” as showrunner and executive producer of Season 4, Variety has learned.
DeLoatch takes over running the multi-cam comedy from series creator Jim Reynolds, whose exit from the series was originally reported earlier this year.
DeLoatch most recently created, executive produced, and served as showrunner on the Netflix multi-cam “Family Reunion.” The second season of that series debuted on the streamer in April, with the first season having dropped in its entirety back in 2019. No decision has yet been made on a third season, per an individual with knowledge of the situation, but should the series get renewed, DeLoatch would remain onboard as an executive producer. Her other TV credits include “Fuller House,” “Raven’s Home,” “Austin & Ally,” and “Single Ladies.” She also created and executive produced the Upn series “Eve.”
She is repped by Gersh and Morris Yorn.

The Neighborhood will be under new leadership when it returns for its fourth season.
According to Deadline, Jim Reynolds, the creator of the beloved CBS sitcom, has announced he is stepping down as showrunner and executive producer.
Reynolds broke the news to the cast over the weekend. Reynolds previously worked on sitcoms 9Jkl, Samantha Who?, and The Big Bang Theory.
“I am very proud of The Neighborhood and have given everything of myself over the last three years to make this the best show possible,” Reynolds said in a statement to the outlet.
“I am so happy that the show has found such an enthusiastic audience and that it will live on. At this moment, in light of everything going on in the world, I had concluded that I am not the right person to continue to tell these stories. I am excited to see the show thrive and wish everyone involved the very best.

“The Neighborhood” creator, producer and showrunner Jim Reynolds has exited the show amid concerns over his leadership style.
According to a source familiar with the situation, CBS Studios had received negative feedback about Reynolds’ abilities as a leader and manager, some of which related to cultural issues, including from two Black writers who recently left the show. The series, which stars Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield, is described by the studio as centering on “the nicest guy in the Midwest who moves his family into a tough neighborhood in L.A. where not everyone appreciates his extreme neighborliness.”
Studio execs had initiated a conversation with Reynolds about a leadership change, per the source — and the showrunner ultimately agreed that stepping down was in the best interest of the series. No Hr investigation was opened in relation to his departure. Season 3 of “The Neighborhood,” which in February been renewed for Season 4, has wrapped filming.
