Anchors away to Mideast

NEW YORK -- Networks continued sending anchors to the Middle East this week as a progress report on the troop increases in Iraq is released and tensions with Iran continue to be high.

NBC's Today co-anchor Matt Lauer will broadcast live from the Iranian capital of Tehran on Thursday. He'll talk to Iranians in a Tehran marketplace about their views on the U.S. and be joined by Middle East correspondent Richard Engel.

Meanwhile, CNN sent anchor Anderson Cooper to Iraq for his fourth trip since the start of the war. Anderson Cooper 360 was scheduled to originate live from Baghdad beginning Monday and continue until Friday. CNN said that Cooper would, among other things, report from the front lines with U.S. troops near Baghdad.
