Werner Herzog dispensed sage advice Sunday during the International Cinematographers Guild's 16th annual Emerging Cinematographer Awards at the Directors Guild of America Theater in Los Angeles. Among his recommendations to the next generation of cinematographers were to seek out knowledge of celluloid film and to be vigilant during the shooting of a scene to avoid excess coverage. "Be bold, develop your own vision, and stick to it. And don't be afraid -- because you are the future," Herzog encouraged the honorees.
