'Drones': insubstantial sci fi, solid comedy

The new sci fi Drones, directed by Amber Benson (of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fame), offers up plenty of laughs but falls short as a sci fi. This low budget gem premiered at Fantastic Fest 2010, a genre film festival held in Austin. With Indy regulars like Jonathan Woodward, Angela Bettis and Samm Levine, this film has the acting chops to pull off a strange script full of light comedy and 3rd Rock from the Sun-style sci fi.
