The recycling of old telly by UKTV goes on with the launch of a new Freeview channel that, as its name suggests, focuses on thespians doing serious stuff. Still, let's not be too cynical, not when the lineup contains shows you might happily watch again on DVD. On the opening night that means Martin Shaw in his sombre Inspector George Gently (9pm) guise, while Sharpe, Jonathan Creek and, toughest and smartest of all, the baby extractors of Call The Midwife all feature in the schedules this week.
